  1. It really affected me when I read that she still had JFK's blood all over one of her arms and on her dress...just unreal
  2. I see...yeah, cost is always a factor. I know a lot of people ditch their cable/satellite entirely and sign up with Netflix and Hulu. I guess it just depends on what floats our boat!
  3. . See, the problem I have is that it only takes about ten minutes on Google to find some pretty impressively credentialed folks from major universities who seem to disagree about certain aspects of evolution. So that's what I'm interested in figuring out...which components of the theory are considered scientific fact and which are still debated.
  4. They clearly are better.
  5. Someone in the comments section over at Ives said that Klinsi is working them too hard...I don't know if that's true or not, but might be one possible explanation for that stinker yesterday.
  6. I'm not hung up on anything lol...to whatever degree the science is proven, I'm there. I'm not attempting to debate evolution. I'm glad you posted that...here's a question: Is the fossil record consistent with that diagram, and are there fossils that represent the transitional species that link humans all the way back to a common ancestor? This is where my interest lies. I understand the process isn't linear....what I'm curious about is to what degree the FACTUAL evidence supports the theory. Feel me?
  7. I would send Fezmid a PM and ask him the best way to get a great deal...he helped me out when I got signed up, and from what I understand they would rather work with you on a deal as opposed to losing you as a customer. Fez usually encourages people to contact customer retention. If you only have the ticket and not an actual package, I would think that they might offer you the same sort of deal that new folks get. With my package, I have one HD-DVR but I am able to watch recorded shows in any other room, even though those boxes don't have a DVR built in. It's pretty cool.
  8. Very cool, thanks man...I'm not much for fiction, so always happy to check out a title like this.
  9. For a minute there I thought he was the smiling guy from those male enhancement pill commercials.
  10. My view on evolution is whatever the current accepted and agreed upon factual scientific evidence of evolution is. The beauty of the scientific method is that it doesn't require me to "believe" or disbelieve anything - either a relationship exists or it doesn't. As I agreed with earlier, I don't view evolution as an invalidation of God or my faith and I'm completely fascinated by the concept. What I've said is that I've seen and studied what was pretty clear evidence that species evolve and that the concept of natural selection was valid. But last I knew, other aspects of evolutionary theory are still highly debated and, while logical, fall short of being factual. Hence, if there is also conclusive evidence of how distinct species (not referring to sub-species that stop mating) evolve into other distinct species, then I apparently have just not seen it.
  11. LOL@1:30 and 2:15
  12. Yeah, too many people are simply unable to identify with something and then prevent themselves from being offended when others don't identify with it, too. I think the problem is that generally speaking, people are insecure a-holes.
  13. Aside from having to live with the name "Ut Phuc", that is an amazing story.
  14. That's exactly why I'm critical of those who stay in their comfort zone culturally and intellectually. When people adhere to one strict set of ideas and are inflexible, particularly over time when there will almost certainly be new evidence or information that affects our world view, it really lays the groundwork for some bad things to happen, IMO. I just turned 40, and if I live another 40 I can only imagine just how much new information will be available to us through science. People can either fear that or embrace it, and I prefer the latter. With regard to faith, I read a quote from Socrates many years ago and have pretty much adopted his approach: To paraphrase, he said something like, "Death will either be like a dreamless sleep or you'll be in the presence of God"...I'm hoping for the latter, but I can deal with the former.
  15. HFB, Dr.D!!! Hope you have a great one!
  16. Okay, that sounds pretty consistent with what I was taught...definitely an interesting field of study
  17. No, I totally HAVE lol. I'm using the Georgia thing to illustrate my point about the "Christians" down here...all they know is what their parents and their pastor taught them. They have no clue about the cultural landscape of this country outside of their own isolation, let alone the world. It's just a big "rah-rah" brainwashing session in lot of churches down here...to each their own, but I think a conviction for Mazda's beign the best cars on the market is much more valid when you are also knowledgeable about Fords, Hondas, VW, and whatever else.
  18. Tie against the Canadians? Something has to be up here...they must have been tired or something, I dunno. Consistency is something that comes with time, though, and we're a long way from that point. Clearly they've shown flashes of the new culture with the MNT, so it's just going to take time before they can play well consistently. Looking forward to the WC qualifiers coming up!
  19. Yeah, I figured it was probably a weather thing based on what you said. That's the exact situation where they can probably help with the signal. Is it still the same dish you installed years ago? If so, they can get you a new one and install it to where you'll have less issue with storms. I went through the same thing when I had DTV several years ago. I had signal loss at the drop of a hat, so they sent someone out to adjust the dish and recalibrate it. Had no probs after that. I just think DTV is a much better product now than it was last time I had it, and anyone who had a poor experience previously may find that it goes a bit more smoothly now. Either way, I'm just glad you're going to get some HD channels!! lol
  20. This is sort of where something like Darwin's Finches would fall though, right? Not really evidence that a finch evolves into some other more complex character, but evidence that variation exists to such a degree that one finch is differentiated from another finch by classification? Sort of how there are like a thousand different types of ant or fly or whatever based on certain differences and the fact that the fly with the bigger eyes won't mate with the fly with the stubby wings?
  21. Totally agree.
  22. Glad you liked it...the ending really had me contemplating the events of the film with regard to what was known and not known prior to his actions. I really enjoy the smaller indy films like that that don't focus on big name actors and all sorts of special effects...it's all about the story and the characters.
