  7. It's really a huge adjustment to go from having every successive episode available to just push "play" vs having to be patient week to week. I've experienced that with a few shows, too. I've thought about it quite a lot and I much prefer being able to watch shows on DVD instead of weekly...it's just a lot more fun, IMO.
  8. Nice quality stream tonight...very cool that they did that. I have DTV at home, but I spend a lot of time at my friend's house helping her raise the new pup, so I signed up for the stream since she's got Dish. So nice to have this show back!
  9. I'd probably go for a Darth Maul, myself...he's a badass
  10. Oh okay, if they have the others available then I take back my criticism That's definitely the sort of thing I'd buy...it's a conversation piece if nothing else!
  11. of all the characters they choose, Admiral Ackbar gets the nod? That's a big "wtf"!

  13. Yep, having a family member as your advocate is the best way to ensure proper care. Being in the hospital is a very dangerous proposition...nothing makes me angrier than an RN or doc who doesn't take the responsibility seriously, and I've seen that more often than I would have ever expected.
  14. I'm with you on the Motrin...in the hospital we'll even go up to 800mg every 8hr for the short term. (Long term use is bad news.) I think it will take a pretty broad approach in order to combat this problem. If I'm using the hospital setting as my example again, the RNs (staff in general, actually) are spread so damn thin that education often takes a back burner to "not killing anyone". I'll tell you guys a secret that is something that bothers me quite a lot...the hospital is more concerned that the staff complete their documentation than they are the patient's education. I never really knew how widespread the issue was until I became a supervisor and I started following behind my RNs and techs. Aside from one or two of them, nearly everyone documented things that never actually were done. It was more a function of not having enough time than it was not wanting to provide solid care, cause I worked with some fantastic nurses in terms of their skill sets. Hospitals want to make sure they have documentation on-hand for lawsuits. If nurses actually provided all the education that they were instructed to provide, the physical care would suffer....there just isn't enough time to do both anymore.
  15. I'm not sure of his intent, but I will say that it's amazing to me how much latitude people take with Rx meds. Everything from antibiotics to sleeping pills and everything in between. People take far too many liberties and it's time for some changes to take place.
  16. It really is...seemed like a really good kid...I feel bad for Sly.
  17. With the availability of tv shows on DVD, blu-ray and streaming so prevalent, there are many people who love to rent a season, or even an entire the entire series, and have a marathon viewing session. It's something we've talked about on here from time to time, so instead of discussing whether it's better to watch after the fact or during the show's actual broadcast, I thought we could discuss some of the best choices for marathoning. The first time I really watched a series on DVD was probably the Sopranos back in the early 2000s. But my first experience with a marathon session was S1 of 24. It only took me a couple days to get through all 24 episodes and it was a total blast. I ended up doing the same for the next few seasons until I was caught up with where the show was at the time S5, I believe. I have to say, I found that watching back-to-back on DVD was much more fun than watching week-to-week. That's the sort of thing I'm focusing on in this thread...not just which shows are your favorites, cause we've had lots of conversations about that....but which shows do you feel best lend themselves to marathon sessions? Also, for those who know if their suggestion(s) are available on Netflix streaming, please let us know. The show I'm marathoning currently is one that many of you have suggested to me for a while now - Friday Night Lights. I figured I'd just watch from time to time, but having been on leave from work a bit recently I found myself really going on some long stretches. The show is much better than I expected it, with excellent acting and writing, and with very little in terms of "filler", which is something I really can't stand (e.g. Falling Skies...way, way too much filler). I started a week or two ago and I'm already into S4. So what are some of your best recommendations for shows to watch in large chunks at a time that actually enhance the viewing experience as a result?
  18. New York Post RIP, Sage...
  19. Couple of babes for sure...I like how they're doing the coaching thing...I think that will make things more interesting. Janelle looks as amazing as ever! I could do without Britney being a coach...she was one of the most annoying players ever. I would have rather seen them bring back one of the most unstable women from the show's past to make it interesting. Have three legit coaches and one coach of death I'm so happy the show's back!!
  20. lol, I know, shame on me People have some major balls...it never ceases to amaze me how successfully and easily people are able to lie. Reminds me of a book I read a while back...i think it was called The Truth Machine. It was a sci-fi read about what society would look like if everyone were forced to submit to lie detectors, even with just trivial matters. It was very interesting!
  21. I half agree with Sapp. My personal feeling is that, while this year will be very important, the two years after this one are when we'll make a splash. I think we'll be in the mix for playoffs this year, but I won't be heartbroken if we're not. I want to see us solidify some positions, get the young kids a bit more seasoning, and then really make our run in '13 and '14.
