If you want even more awesomeness, pour a little hydrogen peroxide in those potato holes and then scrub around with that thing.

Dark Knight Rises - Midnight Screening Roll-Call
ajzepp replied to ajzepp's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Just got home...I have to say, that actually exceeded my expectations. I don't remember a single time when my mind wandered due to the pacing slowing down too much, which surprised me given the running time. I saw one review before I went that complained how the story was told with too many flashbacks but that is just a complete non-factor for me. The flashbacks were appropriate to the story and I didn't feel as if there were too many at all. The acting was phenomenal, Hardy as Bane was intimidating as all hell, and I loved the way the story came full-circle from the first Nolan film, especially the Raj-al-gul (sp) story arc. My favorite aspect of these films has been the fact that they don't feel like superhero/comic films at all. They feel like vigilante dramas more than they do anything else. I think it's very refreshing compared to Batman efforts of the past. Thumbs way up from me...this was a strong trilogy from start to finish and the last chapter was a very satisfying conclusion. I hope the rest of you guys enjoy(ed) it as much as I did. -
Athletic chicks are the best.

Apparently JBJ said he wasn't able to do the show, so I guess he's out. Unless it's a negotiating ploy, but I doubt it. And I think you're exactly right...they'll throw a ton of money at someone who can attract the teen audience.

I just started and finished watching Breaking Bad

As much as I loved the Sopranos, it never captivated me and brought me into the situation like BB has done. There have been times when I've truly felt stress and anxiety in my gut watching this show, which is a big reason why the S4 finale was such a satisfying payoff. It's like you could share in Walt's sigh of relief once it was over. It's not often a show affects me like that. -

Totally...and then when Walt gets a rare moment of sexual aggression and wants to make sweet, sweet love to his wife, what does she do? She makes him feel like he's a rapist or something...I guess Walt wasn't quite as tender as the guy she was CHEATING with...I can't stand that biatch...I wish she and her sister had been visiting Hector that day. -
I'm not sure I see it this time.

Dark Knight Rises - Midnight Screening Roll-Call

I appreciate it, as well...I intended for the spoilers to come after we saw the midnight showings tonight, so definitely hope to avoid them until that time. JL's got me psyched to see it though!! -
Dark Knight Rises - Midnight Screening Roll-Call

Yep, I enjoy it at home but really the only film I've seen in 3D at the theater that I felt was worth the price was Avatar. I typically will just choose the regular 2D film at the theater unless I have reason to believe there is something special about the 3D version. -

That's the way I'm leaning, as well. And I'm kinda glad this movie isn't in 3-D lol. -
I've been checking out BB after dark on Showtime 2 at night while I'm playing online, and I've come to the conclusion that the coaches twist is brilliant. It completely mixes up the game and keeps it moving, because even though the coaches aren't playing directly against the main houseguests, they share common interests. Further alliances are multi-layered, which also keeps things very interesting. I think this is a better way to go than to have them directly competing like they have done in the past on here and on Survivor. It sets the stage for someone having interests that may be in-line with his alliance, but in conflict with his coach and/or his "team". It also threatens their sovereignty to a degree because the coaches have their own goals and will attempt to maneuver the players as pawns in a chess game, which may or may not be fruitful. Whoever thought of this should get a raise...it really adds some depth to the game in terms of the strategy and psychology. Also, JoJo is a babe.

The only thing that tarnishes Seinfeld for me is the fact that Seinfeld himself is a d-bag. Costanza rules, though, and I've had a thing for JLD ever since she was on SNL back in the early 80s.

Sleeping is such a waste of time...imagine how much more we could accomplish in life if we didn't need it. Have you really? You're pretty much in the same position I was with Prometheus. The last film was damn good, so I agree. The aspect of this one that really gives me hope is the presence of Tom Hardy and, to a lesser extent, Joseph Gordon-Levitt. These are two of the best character actors on the planet, in addition to being two of my favorites. I really enjoyed both prior Nolan Batman films so it's really hard for me to imagine not enjoying this one. The running time is 2:44, though, which is a real challenge for me...I don't often do well in those seats longer than 2 hrs...but Avengers was pretty long, too, so that's not a deal breaker. You goin' IMAX or regular big screen? -
It's probably about time for hindsight to kick in

I had a blast going to the midnight showing (actually it was like 2am or something) of The Avengers, so was wondering who was going to be hitting the midnight showings for TDKR? **I'm hoping anyone who goes will chime in with their thoughts about the film when they get back, so fair warning that the posts that follow may contain spoilers!!!** Anyone planning on going? I'm 90% certain I'll be there...my favorite theater has a crapload of showtimes between midnight and 0300, including two IMAX shows. Not sure which I want to go to yet.

The Iggles are my favorite NFC team, but dang, someone needs to tell them to STFU in Jan Brady town...ridiculous. -
There are indications that it will be available to stream online...I don't know what events or aspects of it, but I'd love to check it out if anyone has any info.

Oh she's gone, too? WOOOHOOO!!!! I heard Jon Bon Jovi and Charlie Sheen were in the running...that would shake things up a bit. Charlie would be half lit every show lol. J-Lo is so overrated it's not even funny...and no, the only songs I can think of that she sang are the lip-synced Selena songs from the movie...that was back when I actually liked her. I remember seeing her in that bank/train robbery movie with Snipes and Harrelson...she was mad hot...but now? I don't get it. Hopefully her kids don't get the fugtard gene passed to them.

That sounds like a great synopsis to me...I know a lot of my female friends tend to get caught up in the honeymoon phase of a relationship to the point where it's almost like an addiction. When it fades, instead of working on a deeper bond with their partner and transitioning into the next phase of the relationship, they miss the butterflies and the excitement of someone new, so they start the cycle over again. Divorce just doesn't seem to scare anyone anymore and is so convenient that people choose that instead of actually putting some effort into working on their relationship. These people who think that their relationship should be nothing but blue skies and daisies and bail when it's not really scare me. I made that mistake myself and paid the price for it. It's really a shame...I grew up around many extended family members who fell into category #1 of your post. People who truly did reach the goal of sitting on the back porch in rocking chairs reflecting on their lives together and love that was tried and true. It's too bad people have lost sight of what a beautiful thing that really is.

Totally agree...and he does it without being a major d-bag like A-Rod seems to be. I'm not a Yankee guy but gotta respect Jeter for sure. The religious aspects aside, the institute of marriage has become so watered down since I was a kid. How can anyone take someone seriously in terms of a relationship when they've been married 3,4,5+ times? I don't get it. How do you write marriage vows to multiple people?
