How would you construct the 2024 Bills WR Room?
Coach Tuesday replied to Kirby Jackson's topic in The Stadium Wall
Find a way to get BOTH McConkey and Mitchell. Hard but not impossible. -
I think there is some truth here. I wouldn’t say “no leadership” but I do think that Allen will have to find a higher level of commitment and leadership this year for the Bills to have the same amount of success.

Tipsters gonna tip.

Totally agree. A trade up for Thomas if he falls, or trading up one or two slots for Mitchell or McConkey, then an aggressive move up to the top 8 of round 2 to “double dip” is my dream scenario, AND I’d add a vet like OBJ. Two kids who can grow together (Worthy and Thomas, Ladd and Mitchell or Legette) and you’ve fixed the position and cost-controlled it for four years without leveraging your future with a massive trade up. Plus add a vet like OBJ and suddenly the worst WR room in the league is one of the deepest. -
Random talking head says something about the Bills

The Stephen A. Smith-ization of sports tv shows is why I don’t watch them anymore. Who sits and watches two guys yelling at each other about things that dont even matter in life? -
He’ll get more guaranteed $ than $3.5M in his new deal regardless, unless things really go off the rails for him.
-
This is a strong IOL draft - bizarre move but on-brand.
-
Who is his agent holy moly. Got Diggs and his impossible to trade contract traded to his preferred destination, got him more guaranteed $$ for 2024, and got him the opportunity to get himself a new deal in 2025. That is superb representation right there. Wow.
-
I am sure I didn’t go “nuts” about the trade itself but I am sure I was angry about the lack of investment in the position. Same as now. They’ve known who this guy is for several years and they should’ve been loading up on young talent to replace him instead of chasing to fill the gap when we’re weeks away from rookies reporting.
-
Again, though, for those of you saying "Beane has a plan" - if he had a "plan" why didn't it involve targeting more WRs in LAST YEAR'S draft than Justin Shorter? Now they're scrambling to fill a hole that should've been addressed already.

Worth going back and reading this from 2020. “His standing in the Minnesota offense was just one of several slights that didn’t seem to sit well with Diggs, and early on last season, it became obvious to those around the Vikings organization that the union between the wideout and the franchise was fraying. He missed practice despite not being listed with an injury, used cryptic emojis in his tweets, and eventually said he was “frustrated” with Minnesota’s 2-2 start.” And this: “Yet as great as Diggs had been for Minnesota, his departure seemed inevitable. A month into 2019, the receiver responsible for the most spectacular touchdown in Vikings history skipped team meetings and a practice over displeasure with their run-heavy offense. He was painted as petulant and selfish. The Vikings fined him $200,000.”
-
Yup. The extension was a reaction to pressure from Diggs and now the trade is a reaction to pressure from Diggs (Houston was his preferred destination) and so Beane has just put a “kick me” sign on his own nuts. All of the agents know now that Beane is easy to manipulate.
-
It’s not a bad trade given his age and contract - it was a bad contract given his age and antics.
-
If this was strategic, as opposed to reactive, it would’ve happened a month ago before all of the WR-needy teams picked a mate, or during the draft. This was a reaction to something, plain and simple. And it’s a terrible look for the organization - they signed him to this contract and kept adding money to it, yet they couldn’t make it work. And this regime ALWAYS finds some reason why they have to wait to fix the offense until some future year. ALWAYS.

After yesterday I think Penix goes before Nix. Much higher ceiling IMO. -
McDermott is feeling the pressure
Coach Tuesday replied to Ethan in Cleveland's topic in The Stadium Wall
There is randomness to which side recovers a fumble but that's about it. McD's playoff philosophy, especially when Leslie was his DC, was "we're not going to change what got us here." That's a terrible philosophy in the playoffs against elite playcallers and game planners and it probably explains the turnover discrepancy @HappyDays cited. -

The announced PSL prices probably have put more heat on McD than anything else, tbh. -

Wouldn’t surprise me. This regime almost always talks themselves into dealing with the offense tomorrow. -
