  1. He has looked slower, heavier-footed and totally off-balance this season. I get that he won some offseason ironman competition but I’m just reporting what my eyes told me, which is that he came into the season not physically prepared to play at a high level. Which by the way is his MO after getting paid. Which probably means they shouldn’t have paid him.
  2. There was a running play on Monday night that looked like it was schemed specifically by Reid with the expectation that Hughes would immediately vacate the edge and crash inside. Which he did, immediately at the snap, and the back ran right into the void for a huge gain. I wonder if it’s obvious on film that if if you block a certain way, Jerry will freelance because he can’t resist. PS - my wife is tired of me yelling at the TV, “Get back in your *#+$ lane Jerry!” She has no idea what it means other than she probably made a mistake in marrying me.
  3. For sure that was going on. Their statement before the Titans game was odd - that Spain was inactive due to a foot injury they had “just learned of” or something to that effect. That was the first salvo in all of this.
  4. Still it’s stupid. Someone said upthread “McBeane has zero tolerance for attitude issues.” You know what I’d prefer? Zero tolerance for losing. Manage the attitudes and hurt feelings, it’s your job. Cutting players who complain is insecure and shortsighted.
  5. Oh I realize it’s not a salary thing - but the draconian approach is the same. Why cut a depth player in an injury-riddled season? We know how this will end...
  6. Shades of Langston Walker. Why not keep him for depth? In the Ralph days they’d cut high-paid players who fell out of the starting lineup in order to save cash, sacrificing depth in the process. And then they’d proceed to suffer a rash of injuries at the position, always, like clockwork.
  7. Showed up out of shape and never really seemed bought in this year.
  8. Here was Daboll’s play calling during the critical 3Q possession, down 20-10: 2 Yard Run (1:18) Z.Moss right tackle to BUF 27 for 2 yards (D.Wilson). 1st & 10 at BUF 25 7 Yard Pass (:43) (Shotgun) J.Allen pass short right to T.Kroft to BUF 34 for 7 yards (C.Ward). 2nd & 8 at BUF 27 Run for No Gain (15:00) Z.Moss up the middle to BUF 34 for no gain (A.Hitchens, D.Wilson). 3rd & 1 at BUF 34 I would add that the first down run was out of I-formation. Needing to get his offense on track in the second half, and after a halftime break to make “adjustments,” Brian “the Brain” Daboll thought it would be a good idea to run out of a formation that the Bills don’t do well in, handing to a rookie who has shown a complete inability to make plays. The next play was a short completion to a slow-footed tight end, followed by another inept handoff to “Skates” Moss (who sucks, by the way). Brian Daboll is bad at his job.
  9. He’s really hurt and I suspect they may have to shut him down. He can’t move. Beasley is really fighting through his foot issue too.
  10. Tell her it’s not about size.
  11. This. His offseason work focused on bringing his LEFT arm in tight during the throw (“taking a bite out of the hamburger” or whatever Cover1 was calling it). He can’t do that as well, or without causing pain, and it’s throwing his mechanics totally out of whack. That’s my theory, at least. The ball seems to be sailing a lot more than it was pre-injury.
  12. Yeah? Just a factual one. Best QB prospect in over 20 years. A win ties them with Jax, Atlanta, Houston.
  13. Frustration over terrible playcalls and game planning.
  14. Honestly? Potentially knocking the Jets out of the Lawrence sweepstakes with a loss might be the best thing for the Bills long-term, if they could somehow overcome the emotional toll it would take.
  15. Replacement-level QB play today.
  16. Missing out on DJ Reader seems to have been a pivotal loss.
  17. He was openly musing about retirement before the season - his heart ain’t in it anymore. He’s played for a lot of losing teams.
  18. Uh, that’s because it’s a tautology?
  19. I really think he’s hurt. The adrenaline kicks in during the fourth quarter and helps him fight through the shoulder pain. He’s not able to bring his left arm in tight enough right now and it’s affecting his entire game.
  20. As he should - he was terrible.
  21. The left shoulder is preventing Josh from driving through his throws. That’s my theory.
  22. On THE critical drive in the fourth quarter they went I-formation and handed to Moss for a paltry gain. Neither that formation nor that player have worked ALL YEAR. That was Daboll’s play calling in the critical moments of the game. He thinks it’s like New England where you can just shape-shift into a power running team whenever you need to. But his coaches and players (especially his running game coordinators) lack sufficient attention to detail to pull this off and he has to know better.
  23. Loss was 80/20 on the offense. But the defensive scheme was yet again stupid in key moments.
  24. He was garbage. I’ll give him the injury excuse, I think his left shoulder injury is preventing him from driving through his throws. But he has been a horrible QB two games in a row.
  25. I don’t think Zach “Skates” Moss belongs on an NFL field right now. For starters.
