  1. THIS! This is the type of things i've been wanting to hear people say when they come here! Geniune excitement and a "i'm seeing what you got going on Buffalo" type feel. Not just the "i'm glad to be here and this is great team" blah blah blah. It really seems like something is coming together here and even if we don't succeed, i'm thrilled with the plan put in place. Bravo One Bills Drive! It feels good to say that once again.
  2. I meant give him the money we planned to use on Meachem.
  3. http://www.buffalorumblings.com/2012/3/21/2889471/mark-anderson-mario-williams-bills-free-agents-2012 Apparently, we're one of FIVE teams interested. If we want to do this, I have a feeling it's going to cost a bit. But we were willing to pay a decent amount for Meachem before he left town; so give him Meachem's deal!
  4. Seriously. This is a big time free agent we're bringing in and all you guys can do is try to one up each other with jokes about how little we care about him vs. Mario Williams? I got news for you. This may not be as huge of a signing as Mario Williams. But landing a 20 something year old pass rusher coming off a double digit sack season is about as big as some teams can get in FA. Add in the fact that we already have Mario and this would be HUGE. But, of course, continue on with the ridiculousness.
  5. Man, if we get him, I dare say that players are starting to take notice to the winds of change around here. And if it happens, I think Chris Kelsay will be getting a lot of playing time as a DE and OLB respectively, but not manning anything full time. Which would be a good role for him.
  6. No one has any idea on who has called, if any. Everyone is just speculating. But this NFL.com article would like to say hello: http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000d5d827b36c8/article/tim-tebow-stock-watch-where-will-he-play-in-2012?module=HP11_hot_topics
  7. Yes, because our offense is so strong and stacked with weapons that we can afford to pass. Fitzpatrick is 100% a sure thing and completely guaranteed to not get hurt. Tyler Thigpen is a backup QB you can totally count on and develop. And Brad Smith is better than Tebow at running an offense in special situations. Listen, I find the Tebow fanatics ridiculous. Dealing with them would suck. But the nfl.com article brings up some really good points. He's a good fit and could be had cheap; most likely the 4th we got for Lee and picking up a rookie contract with the signing bonus already paid. I would be very shocked if a team signs him to be their starter. I don't think it's going to happen. The role that Tim Tebow is most likely to play is a role that Buffalo is looking to fill. A developmental project. And one that gets on the field in special packages. We sign Mario and all of a sudden, everyone's on their high horse. The revenue to the Bills and surrounding areas alone would be worth taking a shot.
  8. Well, if nfl.com's running with it, might as well have fun with it right?: 1.) We need a development quarterback - Say what you will about him, but he was able to come from behind to beat the Steelers in the playoffs. I'd say that's a pretty good place to start the devolpment process. 2.) He can contribute on offense while holding the clipboard - Wildcat. Yes, we do have Brad Smith in place. But why can't we be greedy? Both can run it. Hell, imagine them running the gimmick together? Coached on it by it's creator, our new QB's coach, by the way. 3.) ALL eyes on Buffalo - If Mario Williams put us back on the map a little; getting Tebow would REALLY make people pay attention to us. It'd be a welcome change of pace. 4.) Charity - The NFL.com article is right. Chan Gailey is probably one of the very few people who would know how to use the kid. David Lee as well. Honestly, the kid may not have a better opportunity than us. 5.) $$$ - You could probably make a profit on what you'd have to pay him in jersey sales alone!
  9. Honestly, if his fans weren't so psychotic, I'd be okay with them giving as high as a 3rd. I think Brad running the wildcat with Tebow would be dangerously interesting. Not to mention, he'd be a more than exciting prospect in the "Developmental QB" role. But, again, his fans are a maniacal cult. The media being a part of it. If he were to come in, I think there would be some serious chemistry complications.
  10. Yep. Unimpressive combine, unimpressive pro day, and being projected at Guard. Might want to change the title from "Bank on it!" to "No fudgin' way!".
  11. Not high on him. I'm fairly positive he played Right Tackle in college. He's essentially a Bryan Bulaga clone. Which is great. But we need a Left Tackle. Pears is set as our starter for that role. Some people even say Reiff's best fit is Guard. No, don't like him. If we go OT, the pick is either Jonathan Martin or a trade down for Mike Adams. I really think Martin is the pick.
  12. I don't know if you've had a chance to look at Mario's deal or not, but it pretty much took all of our cap space we had beyond what we need to sign our draft picks and resign players who's contracts are up after this season. And Buddy's stated we're most likely out of the UFA business after the Mario deal. Beyond that, the FA pool for what we need (#2 Speedy Big WR and LT) is pretty much dry. So barring a surprise release we can get at a fair price, I don't think we're doing anything beyond the draft and resigning our own. Which is the right move to make. No point in signing someone just to sign someone. Maybe we can get Bell and/or Scott back, but that's the most I expect.
  13. Psh. We signed the #1 draft pick from 2006. Isn't it just like Miami to have to go out and sign the #1 draft pick from 2005?
  14. The real question here: is he flying out to pick her up? Or did he fly her in? If he flew her in; that's huge! Paul Peck has had some pretty big scoops. This could be his biggest!
  15. Really, Silver? You don't like how it's being run? Were you a fan of Tom Donahoe then? Nix is running things better than it's been run in years. I don't get that comment.
  16. If this is accurate, I think it's pretty great that Stevie is just a 4.3 mil cap hit for this year. To get him back for that this year will leave us a lot more money to get guys in FA. Kudos!
  17. My problem with it isn't that I think it's NOT laughable that he'd come here. Such an idea is a pipedream. But if you're going to talk seriously about Cleveland and Jacksonville; how can you post "LOL" about the Bills? Like the Browns and Jags are an upgrade!
  18. http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=ms-peyton_manning_colts_ranking_new_teams_030612 What's so gosh darn funny?!
  19. According to Nix, it's not gonna happen: http://www.buffalorumblings.com/2012/3/1/2835452/buffalo-bills-are-not-in-on-robert-griffin-iii-per-buddy-nix
  20. According to Nix, it isn't going to happen: http://www.buffalorumblings.com/2012/3/1/2835452/buffalo-bills-are-not-in-on-robert-griffin-iii-per-buddy-nix As much as i'd like to say "smokescreen", Nix isn't the smokescreen type. His word is usually always true.
  21. Apparently not. http://www.buffalorumblings.com/2012/3/1/2835452/buffalo-bills-are-not-in-on-robert-griffin-iii-per-buddy-nix
  22. This was a no brainer. But he won't be there when we pick.
  23. I hate when we drafted him. There were better DT's on the board than him. But I just shrugged and said "well, this is Nix/Gailey and not Jauron/Brandon or Marv. They must think he's a better fit". Almost two years later, it looks like an even worse pick than I thought at the time :/
  24. I was a fan of Aaron Maybin coming out of college. His year coming into the draft was nothing short of amazing. I was excited we got him. But when he came to Buffalo, it just wasn't there. I think he got drafted and got paid and got comfy. He was given opportunities and failed. We cut him. The Jets signed him and then the Jets cut him. Because of injuries, he was brought back. He now plays with intensity. I think he sat and home and realized his career was over before it started. And that is why he has finally shown something. His back was COMPLETELY against the wall. In the end, Aaron Maybin would have never played that way for the Bills, in my mind. Good for him and his future in the NFL. But it makes me sick that he wouldn't do it for us.
