Video: Von Miller Behind the Scenes of Free Agency
BillsFanForever19 replied to BillsFanForever19's topic in The Stadium Wall
I don't think he just came here for the money. He even said to McVay, it wasn't all about the money. He'd have taken a little less to stay with them. It was the money AND the fact that we're a Super Bowl favorite. He couldn't pass up the money and the opportunity to be the only player in NFL history to win 3 rings with 3 different squads. He seems to be a very deep person who obviously really loved being a Ram. He probably thought he wasn't going to leave there. So it was difficult for him to have to turn his back on them after publicly saying he wanted to run it back. I don't blame him for that. I also think part of it is he doesn't want his Rams fans and family to think he doesn't care and he just left for the money. He wanted to show them he did care about them. By acting in this fashion it changes the narrative from "screw you Von" to "aw we loved you too Von, we're rooting for you even though you're no longer here". And honestly, even if he did just come for the money (which I don't believe is the case), I wouldn't really care. Because he's not the type of player to take the money and not put in the work. He's an all timer when it comes to preparation and production. And to me, having that is all that matters to me. Yeah, I don't think we've ever had a Buffalo Bill who's been on Dancing with the Stars and Saturday Night Live. He's a next level Superstar. -
I think we all expected Hughes wasn't returning after this season. The writing was on the wall. Von Miller being signed sealed it for me. It's a lot to ask and expect Jerry Hughes to come back for pennies on the dollar, in a rotational role, and take a backseat to Von Miller after 9 years with the team, most of which as the unquestioned leader of the Defense. I think it would be an uncomfortable dynamic for both he and Von. I believe if anyone's coming back and doing that, it'll much sooner be Mario Addison than Jerry Hughes.
-
I'm not 100% sure either will be there. But I feel it's more likely one will be available there then it is one will go on Round 1 and I still firmly disagree we should take one Round 1.

I did this mock based off the report from Sirius XM that players may be moved in Draft Day trades. I think Epenesa represents a guy who has the most value that we could afford to move. Having White on one side and Sauce on the other would be a game changer that could take us over the top, combined with Von Miller. As for Hughes - If Jerry is cool with playing for pennies on the dollar, being a rotational piece, he's comfortable taking a backseat to Von, and Von's cool with it - I'd be down. But I just think it's a lot to ask and may mess with the new era they're looking for in the Defensive End room. I see Mario Addison returning as being more likely.

We're on pick 46 of the TSW Mock Draft and a RB has yet to be selected. And I think this is a more likely scenario than a RB being selected in Round 1 of the actual Draft.
-
You mean to tell me a Running Back hasn't been taken by pick 44? I'm confused. I was told this wasn't possible and that we'd be stupid for not taking Breece Hall at 25 😆

Tyquan Thornton. Can't teach that speed and it's something we need. If he can be coached up a bit, he could be extremely dangerous. And I think he offers a little more as a Receiver than what he's being given credit for already.

Video: Von Miller Behind the Scenes of Free Agency

I'm sure his people received clearance from Josh before putting the video together. Other than that, it was just his agent, his dad, and all we heard from the McVay call was Von's side of it. For all we know, Von may have told Josh on the call that he was being video recorded. -

Papa Miller is now a folk hero in Buffalo. To the victor go the spoils. -
Really wild. Von's video diary of going through the process of Free Agency and ultimately signing with the Bills from his YouTube page. Includes him talking to Josh Allen on the phone, his dad telling him to go to Buffalo, and him saying goodbye to Sean McVay.

Since you were able to land Christian Watson and Kyler Gordon (as well as grabbing Tyquan Thornton and Matt Araiza), I'll give you a pass for going RB with our first pick. Just this once 😛
-
Traded 25, next year's 1st, and AJ Epenesa to secure Sauce Gardner. Fanspeak and PFF seem to Draft players in our need wheelhouse too low and The Draft Network Drafts them too high.
-
You've got OL way too high after signing Rodger Saffold, retaining Ryan Bates long term, re-signing Ike Boettger, and also signing Greg Mancz. Starting Line is set for this season and 4/5 of them are on long term contracts. Maybe a mid round pick or two for development. But none of Dawkins, Saffold, Morse, Bates, or Brown are being benched and you don't spend your first rounder on a rotational Lineman who won't see much playing time in Year 1.
-
Garrett Wilson, Jameson Williams, Chris Olave, Christian Watson, Skyy Moore, Alec Pierce, Velus Jones, and Tyquan Thornton. 4.41 is my cut off as both Beane and McDermott has been preaching needing speed. One of those guys needs to be a Buffalo Bill, even if it's just Jones or Thornton late. Idk enough about Danny Gray to add him to the list. I'd make an exception for Jameson Williams though bc I think he's a next level WR.
-
You're right. He has freakish speed. And he lasted until the 6th Round. What does that tell you? We needed speed and someone to stretch the field last season and they didn't use him. Even when we had injuries at WR. What does that tell you? Maybe he'll stay on as the 6th or 7th WR. MAYBE. But it's insane to think he's going to be a contributor.
-
I had hopes for him. But we needed speed last season and the coaches didn't use him, which speaks volumes. And when he got his shot at being the return man, he showed a proclivity for putting the ball on the ground. Both he and Hodgins were end of the draft picks that have shown nothing. They aren't people you count on.

Loved this one. Just did 6 Rounds. 25 and 130 traded for 39 and 48. Totally unrealistic that it would fall this perfectly. But I would be doing backflips if it did.
-
You're going to be disappointed. He's either going to be extended this offseason or they'll wait until next offseason to make the decision. They aren't trading him and they aren't drafting his replacement this season. Beane has outwardly said he disagrees with his detractors and McDermott has never wavered his faith in him.
-
He for sure has value. That's why a team would want to trade for him. I was looking at guys who have value, but won't kill us to lose. We have our starting DE's locked up for at least the next 3 seasons in Von Miller and Greg Rousseau. In my opinion, I'd sooner let go of Epenesa than Basham. To me, Basham was more impressive in college than Epenesa. And while Basham underachieved a bit, it was his Rookie year. I feel he has more room to learn and grow than Epenesa does. His two seasons have not impressed me and I've seen very little growth. His lack of impact and growth is why we had to go out and get Von Miller. I feel we can get his production from Basham, Shaq Lawson, or a mid round pick. If packaging Epenesa will make a trade up happen, I'd have no problem doing it.

You're beating a dead horse at this point. Arm length is not the be all, end all when it comes to being a baller. You yourself pointed out that we took Ed Oliver because his on field play outweighed his less than ideal measurements. Is it less than ideal? Yes. But Kyler Murray and Russell Wilson's size were also less than ideal. McDuffie's very good vertical makes up for some of that length on reach. And his very good football IQ and lock down production, not allowing a TD in his final two seasons in College cannot be completely undermined simply because his arms are a whole quarter inch under 30. Beane would not have met with him and scouted him as hard as he has if he was off the Draft board like you're determined to make him. You're entitled to your opinion. But you are in the extreme minority.
-
I almost expect Beane to move up. We're kind of in no man's land when it comes to landing one of the top 4 CB's or top 4 WR's. Maybe one of them falls, but it doesn't look good and I don't expect Beane to sit there and risk losing out on a guy he sees as a difference maker. But as I said in a previous post, I wouldn't be looking at starters when it comes to veterans being packaged with picks. He'd just be creating a hole and then needing to fill it, on top of our other holes at that point. I'd expect we're talking about guys like Zack Moss, AJ Epenesa, or Cody Ford. Guys who teams may have liked coming out of college and think they could benefit from a change in system.
-
You just mentioned a guy we took that didn't have perfect measurements. I'm not saying it's not a factor. But I am saying it's not the be all end all. His fit in the system, his production, and his IQ also matter. His arms a little short, but he also has a very good vertical, which makes up for some of the length. And again, if he was someone who wasn't on their board bc of the measurements, I don't think they'd have met with him at the Combine and the Pro Day. And I'd expect you'll see him come in on a Pre-Draft visit as well.
