  1. I'm not saying "the hell with J.P., let's get Omar!". I think we should cover our ass is all i'm saying. As a 2nd, he doesn't have the stigma of being a 1st; therfore needs to be started. J.P. has shown that he can be good or very bad. No one knows for sure what we have in him. After this season if J.P. isn't the answer, we're back to square one. Why not get a head-start and train someone who could be a great backup or trade bait at the very least? I addressed both lines on my "Day 1" mock. More OL/DL would be taken on Day 2 and we'd take some vets in FA.
  2. http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/football...8p-323974c.html I don't see why it's SO outlandish to believe that the Giants would give up the 25th pick overall for Nate Clements. It's not like we're asking for the 8th pick overall like some rumors were suggesting last year (the Clements draft day to Washington rumor). And for the love of god, please don't bring up the whole "Shaun Alexander and Edgerrin James couldn't get a 2nd" argument! If arguably the top corner available won't warrant a low-1st, what will? http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2277901 Defensive tackle Grady Jackson, one of several Packers veterans who will become free agents, expressed support for Sherman. "Mike was a great guy and I know he'll be coaching somewhere else," Jackson said. "Wherever he goes, I won't mind playing for Mike Sherman. He's just that great of a guy." I love know-it-all's. You're right about that. I forgot all about that rule. Well, you've all given me things to think about. I'll be back in a little bit with an edited post. I look forward to TSW's most infamous of dickish comments along the way.
  3. Well, they still have to interview a minority candidate per the NFL's "Rooney Rule". So expect an interview with Ted Cotrell (whom I would interview regardless). Interestingly enough, the D&C reports that they may also interview Art Shell.
  4. Round 1: Haloti Ngata, DT Oregon Round 1 (from New York Giants): Max-Jean Gilles, OG Georgia Round 2: Omar Jacobs, QB Bowling Green Round 3 (from Tennessee): Dominique Byrd, TE USC Round 3: Devin Hester, CB/WR/KR Miami OR Round 1: D'Brickashaw Ferguson, OT Virginia Round 1 (from New York Giants): Gabe Watson, DT Michigan Round 2: Omar Jacobs, QB Bowling Green Round 3 (from Tennessee): Dominique Byrd, TE USC Round 3: Devin Hester, CB/WR/KR Miami With the Giants publicly acknowledging their love for Nate Clements, it makes PERFECT sense that we trade him to them. They have a late-1st (25) and there's no one they want more. For the most part, I think it all depends on which way the Jets go. If they don't want to draft DeAngelo Williams (or a RB at 4), then they'll take the Brick. Otherwise, he may fall. I made it appearant (sp?) in the past that I did not want Ngata. But given some time, i've reconsidered. If Ferguson and Mario Williams are off the board like most suspect they will be, he does make the most sense. Omar Jacobs is a pick that I think would be huge. Most mocks i've seen have him going at mid-2nd. With the uncertainty surrounding J.P. Losman, Omar would be a great insurance policy. The Bills won't take a QB in Round 1. But a project in Round 2 won't jeopardize Losman. People won't scream for Omar Jacobs if J.P. is having problems. If it's decided that J.P. isn't the guy after all, we'll have had a jump on his replacement. And if he is? Well, then you have a solid career backup or viable trade bait. EDIT: I originally had a piece on Anthony Fassano to Buffalo in Round 3. I figured it would be a little bit of a reach. So I moved to Dominique Byrd instead. Devin Hester is a project that I REALLY believe in. Most people flame me for him being on my mocks, but he's someone who could really be something. I feel that the Bills will sign a veteran FA to go with McGee, so Hester could develop and MAYBE push Eric King at the nickel position as a rookie. But he's one of those explosive playmakers that don't come around too often. He regressed a little this year and came out too early. That's why he'll be there in the 3rd. PLUS he can play both sides of the ball. Given time, he'll be special. Mike Sherman SHOULD coach this team. With Payton and Mangini off the board and Hasslett reportedly as well, there is no better candidate. Sherman was the man who was in love with Losman. So much so that he had him hang out with Brett Favre and look into property in Green Bay. It was no secret. People were shocked when we jumped in front of them and took him. Sherman will make sure that Losman is coached well and will start him. I think he had a good coaching plan set for him all along. Mularkey on the other hand dropped the ball. Sherman is a proven winning head coach that has connections in the league. With him here, we could win again. He'd also help bring Grady Jackson in. Which brings me too: FA Signings: LeCharles Bentley, C New Orleans Antonio Bryant, WR Cleveland Will Allen, CB New York Giants Grady Jackson, DT Green Bay Bentley will break the bank and be well worth it. Antonio Bryant won't cost so much. Grady Jackson has gone on record saying that he wants to be like Sam Adams and Pat Williams. He's the exact DT we need in here. With Adams most likely leaving, we would need another DT alongside Ngata or Watson. Jackson and Ngata would be a SCARY combo. Gone: Sam Adams Eric Moulds Trey Teague Nate Clements Chris Villarial Bennie Anderson Mark Campbell Josh Reed Jeff Posey And that's how we'll sign those 4 guys above. We reportedly have a massive amount of money available already. Releasing those guys will free up a lot more. Mike Williams should stay though. The Bills will have to release him and then resign him for SUBSTANTIALLY less. But he seems game. He was injury prone last season, yes. But I think he can be made into a great OG if he is given the offseason and training camp to work on it. I don't think Marv gives up on him. By the way, here's what our OL would look like after my revamps: Mike Gandy Mike Williams LeCharles Bentley Max-Jean Gilles Jason Peters OR D'Brickashaw Ferguson Mike Gandy (He was an OG before Buffalo switched him back to OT) LeCharles Bentley Mike Williams Jason Peters So there!
  5. http://www.wgrztv2.com/news/news_article.aspx?storyid=34569 I'm sure the guy below me will want some "You were right" backups.
  6. I was just watching "Cold Pizza" and in the "Cover Two" segment they had a piece on the Bills. They said that Ralph was furious at Marv for not denying that he was a candidate for the HC job. They went on to say that the leading candidates are Jim Hasslett and Sean Payton. What would you guys think of Payton? I think he would be a good selection. He's spent the last couple seasons under the tutilege (sp?) of Parcells and usually gets praised for being an awesome assistant and QB guru.
  7. By "after next season", I meant after 2007. Sorry, as far as i'm concerned; this season is 2006. Last season ended when we lost to the Jets. Confusion is my middle name.
  8. He doesn't have character issues like Marcus Vick or anything. He just doesn't have any real passion for the game. He is a great talent, but he doesn't really care. All one has to do is listen to him talk to figure that out. It doesn't matter what's going on to him. If we're winning or losing, as long as he gets his carries; he doesn't care. He said it himself. And that's exactly the type of thing Marv is talking about when he came in. We don't have any criminals or murderers. We have a lot of people who are just in it for the money. And it's not like i'm the only one who's saying this. Look, i'm a Willis McGahee fan. Hell, i'm wearing his jersey as we speak. I don't want to see the guy go and when I talk about getting another RB, i'm not looking for his replacement. Quite frankly, we're pretty slim at RB. And you can't say that he was dominant this season. Do you really want to go into next year with Shuad Williams running all the time again? The fact is, his contract is up after next season and I seriously question whether or not he wants to be here.
  9. I have a sinking feeling that Gabe will be there in the 3rd. He's expected to go after Ngata, Bunkley, Wroten, Wright, and mabe even Mahelona. He regressed a little this year, but you're right; he's the type of DT we need. With the exception of Ngata (whom I think is overrated), he's the only DT I see fitting the mold. On a side note, I think Marv will keep Sam and hunt Grady Jackson. It may not be a complete neccessity to pick a DT in the 1st (or 2nd for that matter) like everyone thinks. But we will take one on the first day. Omar Jacobs will be taken in the 2nd, maybe even the 1st if his combine is good enough. If he's available in the 3rd, he won't be by our first 3rd (from Tennessee). I think if he's there, we should take him. As for Hester, maybe you're right. He did regress. But I just think he's a playmaker ala Terrence McGee that could really develop into something nicely.
  10. There's various ideas as to when he'll go floating around. I've read a couple of them that have him going in the 2nd (one had him in the 1st). But for the most part, he's projected as a 3rd-4th round pick. Especially with the flood gates opening up when it comes to Junior CB's. He's the top returner in the country and he's just starting to pick up steam everywhere else. Most people (including myself) think it was a mistake for him to come out. He doesn't have any character concerns by the way. Not everybody from Miami is a Sean Taylor. And yes, he declared his eligibility weeks ago.
  11. This is a REAL deep RB class. We may be able to get him in the 2nd. I list it like this: Reggie Bush DeAngelo Williams Lendale White Laurence Maroney Michael Bush (if he comes out, decision later today) Brian Callhoun Joseph Addai (sp?) Maurice Drew
  12. I don't know if i'd package the 3rd's, but I wouldn't have a problem with a 3rd and a 4th (or a 5th) to take Callhoun. He's a GOOD back and would compliment McGahee well. Given some time to develop, he could be a stellar replacement.
  13. Mario Williams is a DE, he may not be a tackle; but he's the best pass-rusher this year. Which is something we desperately need. The Jets would love to have Reggie. But if they stay put, they'll try and move down. If (or when) they can't, they'll get the Brick and address RB in FA or in the 2nd. In my mock, you'll notice that my 2nd 1st rounder is an OL (Gilles) and in the 3rd I have Gabe Watson (a DT), to go along with Williams (DE).
  14. I was sitting here thinking of different things about this draft. 1.) What if we had lost to Cincinnati and gotten that 3rd selection instead of Tennessee? It would be Buffalo that everyone would be talking about when it comes to Vince Young. How divided would this board be? 2.) With the New York Giants openly expressing their interest in Nate Clements, do we whore him off to them for their late (most likely 23) 1st rounder? 3.) With McGahee's lack of Marv's "character" and coming off a poor season, what would you guys think if we drafted a RB in the first day? Say Laurence Maroney were to fall to Round 2 (with Bush, Williams, White, Maurice Drew, Brian Callhoun, and maybe Michael Bush coming out). Or if Ngata, Ferguson, Williams, and Hawk were all gone, but DeAngelo Williams and/or Lendale White was there while we still had another late 1st for Nate to grab Max-Jean Gilles along with a high 2nd and two (possibly 3) 3rd's. I think this is a very real possibility. McGahee's contract will be up after 2007 and will most likely be gone after (or even before) that. I know people would think i'm crazy, but the thought of DeAngelo Williams or Lendale White in Bills colors excites me to no end! Although Maroney, Drew, Callhoun, or Bush in the 2nd/3rd is more feasible. 4.) With the uncertainty surrounding our QB's, if Omar Jacobs is around for our 2nd pick; do we take him? He's a guy who before this year where he was injury-plagued, was pegged as a high-1st pick. He's a guy that wil need some time and could be something REAL special. With him behind Losman and Holcomb, there wouldn't be much pressure on us to push Jacobs out. He could develop and sit in the wings if Losman isn't the guy. 5.) If Devin Hester is available in the 3rd (which many think he will), what would you guys think if the Bills took him? He's an explosive playmaker who is very raw. He's a CB who also play's WR and is a special teams ace with great speed. There will probably be a better CB available at that time to come in right now. But Hester is a project that has more upside than whomever will be available. With McGee and whomever replaces Clements (i'm crossing my fingers that we'll be able to steal restricted Ricky Manning Jr. away from Carolina), along with Greer, and Eric King; nothing more than 4th CB is needed from him right now. And with all this being said, here's my mock for the Bills on Day 1 (including how I think the top 8 will go): Houston - Reggie Bush New Orleans - Matt Leinart Tennessee - Vince Young New York - D'Brickashaw Ferguson Green Bay - Lendale White Oakland - Haloti Ngata San Francisco - A.J. Hawk Buffalo - Mario Williams 1.) Mario Williams 1.) Max-Jean Gilles (from New York) 2.) Omar Jacobs 3.) Gabe Watson (from Tennessee) 3.) Maurice Drew 3.) Devin Hester (Comp. for Pat Williams)
  15. 1.) Houston - Reggie Bush 2.) New Orleans - Matt Leinart 3.) Tennessee - D'Brickashaw Ferguson (Curveball) 4.) New York Jets - D'Angelo Williams (CP is healthy again and they acquire Philip Rivers from San Diego for their 2nd and future consideration) The Green Bay Packers have traded the 5th pick overall to the Buffalo Bills in exchange for the 8th pick overall, their 2nd round pick, and a 3rd round pick (acquired via comp. for Pat Williams). The Buffalo Bills select Vince Young, QB Texas. Later in the day...... With the 23rd pick acquired by the New York Giants in exchange for CB Nate Clements, the Buffalo Bills select Max-Jean Gilles, OG Georgia Later still...... With the 3rd round pick acquired by the Titans in exchange for RB Travis Henry, the Buffalo Bills select Gabe Watson, DT Michigan Four picks later...... The Buffalo Bills select Will Blackmon, CB Boston College
  16. Vick in the top 10? He could have been a 2nd round pick if he was lucky before all this, now he probably won't even be drafted.
  17. "Flame away" is code for "I know what i'm about to say isn't popular and will most likely be a lightning-rod for a-hole's like you, but it's my belief and I don't care".
  18. I'm just looking to be a lightning rod for flame posts after my Vince post earlier. But I feel this is the truth. We don't know what we have in J.P. Losman and Kelly Holcomb is just not the answer long-term. He's arguably the best backup in the league, but asking for much more out of him is pushing it. You're all right, it's too early to give up on J.P. Losman. But the last thing we need right now is to tank this season too. If Marv decides that Losman isn't progressing and/or he's not the guy for Buffalo, we have Holcomb and we're back to square one; waiting on a QB in the 2007 draft. But with Marcus Vick, he's f-cked up his situation so bad that he won't be picked until mid-2nd at the ABSOLUTE highest (most places say he can only hope to be picked in the 3rd). He's not going to be a starting QB anywhere. The best he can hope for is a team to take a chance on him that has uncertainties at QB so that MAYBE he can get some playing time. This is perfect for Buffalo (and for Vick). We could draft a guy in most likely a 3rd that has 1st round talent. But since you picked him in the 3rd, nothing's expected and it won't cost you a lot of money. If we were to trade Nate for a 2nd, get a Comp pick for Pat Williams (like a 4th), and have our 3rd for Trav; it would be a risk we could afford. Even if we didn't trade Nate (only if we can't resign him), we should still get a comp for Pat. Especially since Denver got three 3rd's for losing 3 bum DT's last year. He has some MAJOR character concerns, this is true. But so did a lot of players under Marv's wing. I could see Marv taking a chance on him if he's apologetic (even if it's fake) and Levy thinks he can change him. In the long run, talent-wise; he's just too good to pass on with a 3rd and the fit is glove-like. If it doesn't work, it doesn't work. But the upside far outweighs the downside in my opinion. Oh yeah...... flame away!
  19. What everyone seems to be missing is that I feel we can (or could rather) strengthen our O-Line and get an upgrade at QB. I'm not saying draft Vince Young and we're set. No, not by a long-shot. I'm saying draft Vince Young, get someone like Max-Jean Giles in the 2nd, and a DT (or 2) in the 3rd (maybe Gabe Watson will be there, if not we could easily move from 3 to 2). Sign Brantley and/or Hutchinson and do some shifting. Keep Sam Adams and try to sign Grady Jackson.
  20. Vince Young. Now i'm going to be flamed on two different threads about the same thing
  21. Yes, we need to address the line. But I don't think that's going to happen with the #8 pick. I think that's going to happen with FA. Guys like LeCharles Brantley and/or Steve Hutchinson. I think it will happen with our 2nd pick (or picks depending on Clements and how many 3rd's we have and whether or not we want to trade up) with someone like Max-Jean Gilles, Davin Joseph, Daryn Colledge, Jeremy Trueblood, or maybe even Jonathan Scott (as Ferguson, Justice, Winston, and McNeill all will go before he does). And J.P. got better with every game? Did you see him in the Chiefs game and then the Carolina game after that? He has the potential to have a good game, then he get's cocky and falls on his face. Even he has admitted that. It's something that just hasn't been able to be fixed his entire life. That was his problem coming out of Tulane. He was never spectacular in college. He was journeyman and expected to be a 2nd round pick. But then GB got a hard-on for him and we had to jump in front of them.
  22. Do I think J.P. Losman is a bust? No, it's too early to tell. But here's what I do think; I think Mularkey has no faith in him. I think the entire team has no faith in him. I also think that Losman has played significantly worse than most "young QB's" that just need a little experience. Talk around the media and the league is that the kid just doesn't have it mechanically. He plays great when everything's going well, but so do most NFL QB's. He just doesn't make things happen and he's no leader. Might he be a good QB someday? Maybe. But do I think Vince Young would be an upgrade? Most definitely. Right now, we don't know if we have a starting QB on this team. So why not? Again, Ngata is not a good choice and their isn't an OL or DT worth taking at 8.
  23. I agree with you whole-heartidly. Our priority is with the trenches. But I feel that should be addressed in free agency and in the 2nd and 3rd rounds. There are a lot of DT's that will be there in Round 2 who will be quality. As well as Max-Jean Gilles perhaps on the OL. OL and DT at #8 is a stretch for anyone besides D'Brickashaw Ferguson.
  24. Am I the only one who was watching the Rose Bowl angry at our playmaker McGee? Had we just lost the Bengals game like we should have, our QB situation could have been answered by Vince Young or Matt Leinart with our #3 overall pick. Yes, either one of them could be "busts". But so could anyone else we pick. But since we won that meaningless game, we'll pick 8th and draft someone on the OL or DL that probably won't make much of an impact right away. Tired of the sexy pick? I'm sure you are. But with Losman and Holcomb, it's actually needed for once. After the Rose Bowl, i'd do almost anything for Vince Young to be wearing a Bills uni next year. Flame me if you want, but I stand by it.
  25. As long as Modrak is here, it's going to be the same ****. All one has to do is go to bb.com, go to the multimedia section, click on "Bills T.V. Network", and watch the selection entitled "2004 Draft: Part 2". You'll see a INVOLVED Ralph Wilson sitting next to TD as they draft J.P. Losman as well as Modrak hosting the bit.
