  1. Trading a first round pick for someone would involve squeezing in their contract to our cap situation and paying them much more than a Rookie. Not to mention it would have Beane trading his first away two seasons in a row. I don't see it.
  2. People upset about this should look at it this way: Would you rather have him on the Exempt PS list again or off the team completely? His best case scenario IMO was earning his way on the Practice Squad, unexempt this time. And even that seemed like a longshot when you consider Antonio Williams is above him on the Practice Squad, they brought in Devonta Freeman down the stretch last year so that even *Antonio* didn't see the field, we signed Breida, and we're almost guaranteed to Draft a RB somewhere between Rounds 1 and 7 (and a later Round pick could end up on the Practice Squad as well).
  3. He sure did. Somebody should have reminded him he's a PUNTER. Don't think I've ever heard of a punter telling his GM "nah, I'm good on a long term deal. I'd like to get paid a big one year deal or I'm going to test the market". For as good as some of his kicks were - he did shank a couple. Which when you factor in how little he punted in the first place - the couple he did do probably equated to a pretty high percentage of shanks overall. Don't really feel sorry for the guy.
  4. Except he's not a WR. He's a 5'10" Running Back.
  5. Between Lamar's ability as a passer and Sammy's injury proneness - this has got 500 yards tops written all over it.
  6. That's what I mean though. Last season, we carried Singletary, Moss, Yeldon, and Jones. If you're of the mind that Jones is staying, unless we're going to carry 5 RB's (and as such, taking away from a different position) - I can't see us keeping 2 RB's who provide nothing in the Running game and are strictly Special Teamers.
  7. If he wants to make the team, he's going to also have to be a good gunner and beat out Taiwan Jones. Don't see them using 2 RB spots for strictly Special Teamers.
  8. Talked to one of my friends who's a Dolphin fan and asked him what went wrong in Miami:
  9. Nobody says The Process like Aldon friggin' Smith 🤦
  10. No, I don't think it's completely out of the realm of possibility. Just like it's not completely out the realm of possibility that he is part of a competition in a crowded backfield, finds himself the odd man out, and doesn't even make the team. It all comes down to whether or not we draft another RB (and how high he's picked), how Breida performs in Training Camp and the Pre-Season. And similarly, how the rest of the RB's perform. I could be way off. But my gut says we draft another RB and then it's a 4 man competition for 3 spots. In the end, either Singletary gets traded, Breida gets cut, or it's a late round RB that ends up on our Practice Squad.
  11. He averaged a little over 600 yards a season in his 3 years in San Francisco and was such a "feature back" that they traded him. Not saying he's trash - but "feature back" is really overselling the move. Especially after last season.
  12. I like Breida. But I see this more as a replacement for Yeldon and insurance more than anything else. Could easily see Singletary, Moss, Breida, and a Draft Pick battling it out for 3 positions with the odd man out being traded (if it's Singletary) or released (if it's Breida).
  13. Never spoke in absolutes. You'll also notice on the first page I said we might do a restructure and maybe make a small move or two (like Obada). But that the idea of being able to get whomever we want regardless of price (like Kyle Fuller or Jadeveon Clowney) bc he can easily find it is ridiculous.
  14. I think there's still some space after Obada. But we were reportedly over the cap by a little more than a few million as of yesterday, so a chunk goes towards first getting us out of the red.
  15. With Jerry Hughes, Mario Addison, and A.J. Epenesa going nowhere, as well as them really liking Daryl Johnson - I don't expect anymore additions to Defensive End in FA or with a Day 1 or 2 Pick.
  16. It wasn't me. And I think we could make a small move or two with, say, a Hughes extension/re-structure. But this whole "go get em - we can find the space" mentality when a guy like Kyle Fuller or Adoree Jackson comes available is just ridiculous.
  17. I'm not saying it's impossible. I'm simply saying this rampant "he can make money" like it's a thing he'll definitively do - his words and actions (not doing it while the market dries up) speaks otherwise.
  18. Funny thing is - I actually cut some of it out in transcription 😆
  19. One thing I keep seeing over and over is fans saying that Brandon Beane can "easily" create more cap space without detriment. Every time someone becomes available - it's the same thing. But I think you all should listen to Brandon's words. Just because you feel he "can" doesn't mean he will or he wants to. Below, you'll find his latest press conference. From 37:15 - 38:47 he discusses this thought process. I've also transcribed it if you can't watch the video atm:
  20. I really think you're confusing "thousands" for like one or two people...
  21. He's not the only one who will be vetting him. If he checks out okay, no way he makes it to the 30. If he doesn't and falls ALL the way to 30 - that means he's untouchable to The Process. Just not gonna happen any way you slice it. This is not the regime to take a chance a guy with issues.
  22. If character concerns have him dropping that badly - then he'll drop past us as well. If almost every team in the league isn't interested bc of his character - you better believe Beane and McDermott won't be as well.
  23. If we would have done more (/had more money to spend) in Free Agency - I probably wouldn't be opposed. But since we were basically only able to bring back our own - that 30th pick is necessary. Also, from the other team's perspective - unless they are in the Super Bowl - they'd end up giving up more than a 30th the following year. And if it's a Houston Texans situation - they'd be giving up a *lot* more. Don't think many teams would be interested in that trade.
