  1. If they want to take a guy they like in the mid rounds, sure. But you don't take a guy in the 1st or 2nd as insurance. Especially with the holes we have elsewhere. If he fails this season, then you move on and replace him next offseason.
  2. After the Hamlin game? You mean when we were down to our 3rd Free Safety? Tre White was just getting his feet under him, Jordan Poyer was playing hurt, and Christian Benford was hurt. We'll be going into the season with Micah Hyde returning from injury, Tre White will have a full offseason, Poyer was re-signed, Dane was re-signed, Taylor Rapp was added, Elam will have a year under his belt, as will Benford, who will go into the year 100% We can't just assume White won't return to form and look to replace him already with a 1st or 2nd Round Pick. If there's a player who falls that can't be passed on in Round 3 or later, go nuts. But those first 2 Rounds have to be a WR, LB, OL, TE, or DT (in no particular order). We're set in the Secondary.
  3. No, I think it's just a matter of a mid round prospect having Elite measurables. So it doesn't shock me that most of the teams in the league want to sit him down, get to know him, and pick his brain to see if he's someone they can squeeze a diamond out of in a mid round pick. But if he interviews really well with a team, it wouldn't shock me to see him be a player that gets "overdrafted" in experts eyes. Side note: with Tre White, Kaiir Elam, Dane Jackson, and Christian Benford as Outside CB's and Taron Johnson in the Nickel - we're loaded at CB. So much so, there's been discussion of moving Benford to Safety (which with the return of Poyer and the addition of Rapp seems unnecessary). There's no way we take a CB in Round 1 or even Round 2.
  4. https://www.nfl.com/prospects/julius-brents/32004252-4551-0110-2798-7a9b05aa2760 6'3" Corner with 34" arms. Don't need to say anything else.
  5. I wouldn't pay that and I doubt Beane will either. 6.5 base on a 1 year deal. Add a voidable year of funny money that you can use to bump up his signing bonus on the 1 year deal. Bringing it close to 8 million between base and bonuses. Take it or leave it. From the sounds of it, that's a lot better than he's being offered and might be the best he's going to get on a prove it deal. Which if he wants anywhere near what he's asking is what he's going to have to do. Prove it with us this year, cash in next year.
  6. With Poyer, Hyde, and Rapp - Hamlin could be brought back slowly and have limited reps. This will be his 3rd year. Keep him on the roster so that he can become a vested player. He's earned it.
  7. Kinda what I was wondering. He was untradable before. Then, after this happened, he restructured his deal to help the team and make him even harder to trade. Diggs isn't going anywhere.
  8. Looking at Arizona's cap situation, they're about 12 under right now. I'd imagine they want to get out from Hopkins massive contract. But they aren't in such bad shape that they have to. Between that and their actions, says to me that their stance is that they'll move him if someone blows them away with an offer. But if not, they're fine with keeping him. Our stance is "if the price is right" (as stated by WHAM13's Dan Fetes after talking to team sources) and they're desperate enough that it's a good deal we couldn't pass on, we'll make a trade. Those two stances just don't line up.
  9. Well then he's not playing NFL Football this year. No one's coming close to that price. Mecole Hardman just signed for 6.2. OBJ isn't even getting 10. If he wants his big contract, he's going to have to sign for the best deal he'll get this season on a one year deal, prove he's worth it, and then try again. Bet he's waiting for after the Draft and hoping a team that's desperate will up their price. But $15m? Never going to happen.
  10. I'm surprised to see all the hate for this. I mean, if so many of you are convinced Sean McDermott isn't good enough to get us over the hump and want him gone - how could you balk at Bill Belichick replacing him?
  11. I don't think it stinks. It's just lacking that Calvin Johnson type Top 5 Elite WR Prospect and isn't particularly deep. I really like Jaxon Smith-Njigiba, Quentin Johnston, Jordan Addison, and Zay Flowers. The problem is most if not all will be gone by our pick. And Zay is a great route runner with speed, but is diminutive and plays out of the slot a lot and we need an outside guy.
  12. Kingsley Jonathan was signed to the roster after the year under a Futures contract. Glad to see him talked about. I have thought that he could make this team as the last Defensive End on the 53 if they decide to not pay Shaq and I don't think he'd bring any less than Epenesa or Basham has. Though I'm still hoping Shaq is brought back under an inexpensive deal.
  13. Everything I've read said it's worth up to 4.6 with the base seemingly 3.
  14. I'm surprised by the money. Must be a big market for DT's this year and/or there was some competition. He was injured a lot last season - but when he was healthy he was a force as a rotational D-Lineman. Hopefully he can stay healthy and make the price worth it. As it stands now, Ed Oliver, Daquan Jones, Jordan Phillips, and Tim Settle will all be Free Agents next year - which is our entire DT room. So i'd expect to see an extension or two soon.
  15. Oh yeah, players often fly in on their own dime days early when the front office isn't in town to hang around town and wait for them.
  16. And we just paid him 4 million in cash up front in the restructure. I know someone will say "that's not cap, so who cares?". But teams aren't generally in the business of handing someone 4 million dollars if they have even the slightest intention that they won't be in the plans. The idea of a 1st or 2nd Round RB this season went out the window when they paid Nyheim Hines and Damien Harris.
  17. Yes and yes. For one, McDermott has only ever dressed 3 RB's on Game Day. 2 RB's and 1 RB/ST. So one between the Rookie, Cook, and Harris wouldn't dress unless there was an injury. Take a guy late round, sure. But a 4th RB when the team has holes (MLB & TE2), has positions that need upgrading (WR & OL), and more expensive positions (like DT) that will have multiple FA's after this year? No way. We just paid 4 million cash in a restructure to Hines (who we also spent a 5th round pick on less than 6 months ago) and he has a 2 million dead cap hit. We're not cutting him. We spent a 2nd Round pick on Cook less than a year ago. Now we're going to spend another 1st or 2nd on another RB? And we just signed Damien Harris less than a week ago to be their Thunder. If you need to replace Harris after this season or Cook doesn't continue to ascend, then you Draft a RB in 2024. But a 1 or a 2 on a RB in 2023 is MADNESS.
  18. Spotrac just doesn't have the exact details of the re-structure and it's effect on the Dead Cap. OverTheCap does, however: https://overthecap.com/player/nyheim-hines/6989
  19. After his restructure paying him millions in bonus money up front and the dead cap hits on his deal, he's pretty much locked in. Beane never restructures players and then cuts them. We also gave up a Draft pick to acquire him and he's only played a handful of games. RB in the 1st is out. Bet the farm.
  20. I wouldn't. Not based off of things that have been said by Beane and McDermott or his contract. I think he will be used as a Returner (although it's possible he isn't as Harty was a 2019 First Team All Pro return man), but will also get some plays in between Cook and Harris. And if we take a guy in the 1st, who's inactive on Game Days? We're not going to dress 4 RB's. Even when we had Taiwan and he dressed for ST, we only ever dressed 2 other actual RB's.
  21. I don't agree with the idea that (not that I'm saying you're saying it) Hines is just going to be a Special Teams guy. I don't think Beane traded for him just to be a Returner. Even McDermott has said they could have used him more on Offense. And with what we're paying him, I'd be further surprised if that were the case. As for Harris on a one year deal, I feel like it makes more sense to Draft a RB next year if you need to replace him and/or Cook regresses than it does doing it this year. It has to be WR, LB, or OL in Round 1. Maybe a DT if they think they might want to move on or won't be able to bring back Ed Oliver and/or DaQuan Jones after this season. Maybe a TE if they feel they need 2. RB is just a luxury pick that you shouldn't do in the 1st Round to begin with. Doubly so if you already have 3 RB's to feel good about and Triply (is that a word?) so if you have holes to fill.
  22. We spent a 2nd Round Pick on James Cook just last year. He really started coming on strong down the stretch. We traded for Nyheim Hines a handful of months ago. Just signed Damien Harris to be the Thunder to their Lightning. Our RB room is in real good shape this season. Maybe we take a late round flyer on a guy. But in no way, shape, or form are we drafting a RB in Round 1 with the holes we have to fill on this team and the RB's we have already.
  23. I have hopes that WR's fall as a whole and teams go with other WR's before Quentin Johnston first. Probably wishful thinking, though I did see Daniel Jeremiah mock him to us at 27. Anyone who watched the TCU v. Michigan CFP should know what I'm talking about.
  24. He's the one who's available. In no way is LA ever trading Cooper Kupp.
