  1. And here I thought you might finally be coming around to a 1st Round WR being the most likely move we'd be making at WR help alongside Diggs and Davis. Then you post 1st Round WR... AND Hopkins? That's never going to happen. They aren't going to go from thinking Gabe Davis is showing enough promise as a #3 that he should get a shot at #2, to he failed at #2 - so demote him to #4. We have Stefon Diggs, a top 5 WR in this league who we're paying like a top 5 WR in the league. At most, you're going to bring in 1 stud acquistion alongside him. No team carries 2 Top 10 WR's and then trades up in the 1st Round to take another, who's ceiling would be WR3. That's Madden level ridiculous. It's one or the other. Either would put us in a MUCH better situation than most teams in the league. And with OBJ being paid what he was paid, it makes the minimal chance we could make Hopkins happen even less at this point. We have holes on this team, places that need upgrade, and places lacking depth. We can't afford to use Draft resources to trade up and select a WR, Draft resources to trade for Hopkins, and large amounts of cap space for Hopkins all at one position and neglect places like MLB, OL, and TE.
  2. PFT agrees with me that if the rumors are legit, it's probably for a WR.
  3. If signing Richie James and their cap situation not being great removes KC, in your mind, than our cap situation and signing Deonte Harty and Trent Sherfield would remove us as well. Between our Jordan Phillips deal not being on the books and their James deal not being on the books, our cap situation isn't much different. And we have a better WR core than they do, at the moment. KC doesn't have a true #1 right now. They only have MVS, Kadarius Toney, Skyy Moore, and Richie James - after losing Mecole Hardman and JuJu Smith-Schuster in FA. After what OBJ just got, I don't see the Bills or the Chiefs being able to afford Hopkins. I think we'll both be Drafting WR's within the first 2 Rounds.
  4. No, the Jets never even made sense to me for OBJ. They have Garrett Wilson and already signed Mecole Hardman and Allen Lazard. They aren't breaking the bank for Hopkins too. But I think you're right. If there was any hope that Hopkins might take a pay cut, that flew out the window with the money OBJ got. Absolutely insane Baltimore paid that.
  5. Knox is a good Tight End that we pay like a Top 5 TE. I think Knox is decent. But he's not a Game Changer. It seems like for every "wow!" low percentage catch he somehow manages to pull in against all odds, he has another high percentage catch hit him right in the hands that he drops. I don't think fans who don't think that he's on the level of Kelce and Kittle are "knocking" him. Nor is the idea we should get another TE in here on his level a knock on him. I like Dawson. But there's a good percentage of teams that run 2TE packages. I think that was the plan when we signed OJ Howard. It just didn't work out. Having 2 TE's at a high level would allow us to run 2TE packages. It would keep both Dawson and he fresh when only 1 TE is on the field. And Dawson may be good, but what happens if he gets hurt? Josh needs more reliable pass catchers at the ready. Another TE provides that and it gives us insurance if Dawson gets dinged up. As good as you think he is, we have to have someone solid with him and he can't be on the field every single play.
  6. Because a.) Knox is good, but not great. He has a number of frustrating drops. And b.) We have nothing else there. If we want to run 2 TE sets, it would be good to have another solid TE. And if Knox gets hurt, we're pretty much nowhere.
  7. I guess I don't know how contracts work. How can you give someone a base salary of 1m+ and incentives of 3m and then give them a 13m+ signing bonus? I thought bonus' had to be a percentage of a contract? How can you give someone a bonus that's like 4 times the amount of the actual contract?
  8. Wrong again. Hines is under contract for two more seasons. And Spotrac hasn't updated the contract since his restructure. But OTC has, it's a 2 million dollar dead cap hit (on top of the 4 million we paid up front and the 5th Round Pick we spent on him): https://overthecap.com/player/nyheim-hines/6989 And you sort of answered your own question there. They didn't do all of that for him to "just return kicks". Both Beane and McDermott have said they could have used him more last season on Offense and expect to use him more this season, as he'll have a full offseason with the team and won't be learning the playbook midseason. And I can guarantee you Damien Harris didn't sign here when he did in FA without guarantees that he'd get playing time. We didn't do that just to have him ride the pine on Sundays while Robinson and Cook are dressed (which is what would happen if we drafted Robinson). You might not be a fan or worry about his injury history - but they made the move. They're not just going to replace him weeks later bc you want more. As for next year, even if Harris is gone, you worry about RB then if you need to. This year, the position is covered. We need to worry about the positions that aren't covered this year, rather than upgrading the RB core again and again when it isn't necessary. Again, we've already spent a 2nd and a 5th and signed Harris. The 2nd we paid on Cook (which is a high price for a RB these days) is proving dividends. Now we want to delegate him to RB2 as he's showing growth after the price we paid? Why? And no one is saying trade up for a Defensive player. The rumor isn't even for a Defensive player. The OP got that wrong. The rumor is a skill position player or an OL. In my eyes, this rumored trade up is most likely for a pass catcher. You talk about RB and "what happens if". But look at WR. We've got Diggs and Davis on the outside. Davis underachieved last season. And when one of them needs a breather, we want to put more than 2 on the field, or God forbid one of them gets hurt - it's Trent Sherfield time. We need another outside WR. And TE? We've got Knox and Morris and nothing else. Knox isn't a top tier TE to begin with. If we want to use 2 TE sets, Knox and Morris doesn't scare anyone. If Knox gets hurt, then what? This isn't even a run heavy team. Allen needs more reliable pass catchers then he had last season. Harty in the slot hopefully helps. But he still needs more. We were in on Hopkins and OBJ for a reason. But neither panned out. Now the Draft is the only real option. If it's for a Skill Player, it shouldn't be and won't be for a RB. If they want to add another developmental player in the later Rounds, that's fine. But in the first few Rounds we need to be looking at WR, LB, TE, and OL.
  9. I think teams are falling in love with Zay Flowers playmaking ability. Hopefully he and JSN are the first WR's off the board. Making Quentin Johnston fall in striking range of a rumored trade up.
  10. No Odell, No Hopkins, definitely feels more and more like 27 will be a WR.
  11. Because people are in denial and won't let it go.
  12. Oh damn, I missed it. Thanks. That's surprising to me. More so that Sanders is the 3rd LB to come off the board. I think Beane would be looking to move up in this situation.
  13. Trenton Simpson is gone. Drew Sanders, Jack Campbell, and Daiyan Henley still on the board. Interesting spot. I think Beane would wait a little while longer and let the board come to him. Once one more MLB comes off the board, I think he'd try and move up. For MLB it's falling how I'd expect. Sanders and Simpson will be the first off the board. Campbell may very well be there at 59, or at least within striking distance. Taking him at 27 is foolish.
  14. Your take on Hines is just false. We just handed him 4 million dollars in cash as a restructure to keep him. Teams are not in the business of giving someone 4 million dollars if they aren't in the plans. We also gave up a 5th Round Pick to acquire him not even a year ago. Not to mention 2 million plus in Dead Cap to release him. Hines is going nowhere. We also spent a 2nd on Cook less than a year ago. Slowly worked him into the lineup and by the end of the year, he was showing growth. You don't spend a 2nd on a RB and when he shows development, then spend a 1st on another. That's insane. If we had a solid roster with depth all over the place and Robinson was there at 27, maybe. But the fact is we lack depth in places, have outright holes at other places, and don't have cap space to fill them all. Drafting Robinson and especially trading up for him is incredibly shortsighted. This idea is like Buddy Nix drafting CJ Spiller.
  15. So are a good percentage of WR's coming out of College. The same things were said about DK Metcalf. Johnston like most prospects needs to be coached up. But the fact remains - he's the best Outside WR Prospect with the blend of size and speed I foresee us looking for at WR on the boundary. Flowers and JSN are clearly slot guys. Addison is a bit of a tweener. If Beane moves up to select him, than he feels he's closer to Boom than Bust.
  16. Bijan Robinson is talented. But we're covered at RB. We've already spent a 2nd Round Pick on James Cook and a 5th Round Pick on Nyheim Hines in less than a year. Then we went out and signed Damien Harris to compliment them. There's zero chance they then spend a 1st Round Pick AND trade up for one after what they've already done. Less so with the holes we have to fill. And I've said this a million times, but I'll say it again - McDermott has only ever dressed 3 RB's on Game Day. 2 true RB's and 1 RB/ST. Nyheim Hines will dress for the latter role. Meaning 1 of Cook and Harris would be made inactive on Game Day. I don't think they signed Damien Harris to be our TJ Yeldon/Matt Breida "Break Glass in Case of Emergency" inactive RB. Cook, Harris, and Hines is a very solid core to dress on Game Day. Especially with how we tend to use RB here. I get liking Bijan's talent. But we have too much to do elsewhere to be making CJ Spiller-esque upgrade luxury picks. Picking him and especially trading up for him is nonsense.
  17. I see all the rumors and am skeptical about it. We have a lot to do in this Draft. I don't see him giving up our 2nd this year. I could see him banking on that 3rd comp next year and using a 3rd next year. I don't know how far a 3rd this year and a 3rd next year would get us. I see a hypothetical move up being for Quentin Johnston. OBJ visiting the Jets could mean he's out. We did look into DeAndre Hopkins, but my guess is they feel they can't afford the cost of the contract. Johnston is the only true Outside WR with the blend of size, speed, and athleticism I think they're looking for in Round 1 and is at least just out of reach at 27. I think they will Draft OL prospects, but I don't think they're looking for someone to outright replace Spencer Brown this year. And I don't see them trading up for a Guard.
  18. This is a made up concept amongst fans, just as trading Tremaine Edmunds last season was. Nothing Brandon Beane has said has led me to think he believes anything that you're saying he believes. On the contrary, he talks up how he'd like to keep him (and Gabe Davis) for years to come and is excited to see what he does as a Bill this season.
  19. I wouldn't be opposed to bringing him in as an extra arm in Training Camp and the Pre-Season. No guarantees to make the team.
  20. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2023/04/07/cam-newton-should-target-bills-chiefs-for-backup-role/
  21. I'm seeing it's for a "Skill Player" or Offensive Lineman. Not Defensive End. So a WR, TE, or OL. Maybe Bijan. But I would be shocked to see us trade up for a RB with the core we have and what we need to fill in the Draft. My guess is for Quentin Johnston, if he happens to fall within range or Darnell Wright. https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10071545-nfl-rumors-bills-eyeing-trade-up-from-no-27-pick-in-2023-nfl-draft I'm in line with most prognosticators - which is Drew Sanders and Trenton Simpson are ranked above him. And thus far, Simpson is the only MLB prospect we have lined up for a visit (that has been reported on). If Campbell is a target, you don't take him at 27.
  22. Jack Campbell fans about to fire up burner accounts when the Bills are on the clock at 27.
  23. Toney had 14 receptions for 171 yards and 2 TDs for the Chiefs last season. He was used in spot duty off the bench. He and Moore could take a step forward and will be given more reps this year. But I think they're still looking at getting a clear WR1 or WR2 to replace Smith-Schuster and Hardman. Whether that's a Round 1 or Round 2 pick or a trade. I don't think they're solely relying on Toney, Moore, and now James to completely fill that void.
  24. That makes their core right now MVS, Kadarius Toney, Skyy Moore, and Richie James. They lost JuJu Smith-Schuster and Mecole Hardman this offseason. I don't think this takes them out of anything. It's a Trent Sherfield like signing. They still need more help at the top of their depth chart.
  25. Perfect way of putting it. Certain posters want Hopkins so badly that they'll legitimize the clearly illegitimate because they want to have something that keeps their faith no matter what. Instead of reviewing everything and thinking critically, it's all based in emotion. Exactly this. ErieCountyBulls "reporting" is 'Become a Twitter Source and Get Followers when you're not a Source 101'. Twitter is filled with ErieCountyBulls "reporters" every offseason. People who read tea leaves on leaks and make claims before everyone else so that if it happens, it legitimizes them. He called David Edwards would sign... after it was announced he was in town visiting with a team that has his former OL Coach. He said we're in on DeAndre Hopkins and are leaders of the "pact"... after Hopkins followed Josh and Von on IG and made his "Buffalo Soldier" post, while fans were in a fervor, looking for any information. Like you said, where was the Taylor Rapp information? It didn't exist because there was no info to piggyback off of. Another dead giveaway to me is them Re-Tweeting people that claim he had things before everyone else and is legit. A real source wouldn't feel the need to make "see! I'm legit everyone!" posts and block anyone who says they're not. Even if Hopkins is traded here, ErieCountyBulls isn't legitimized in my eyes. He'll have just happened to make a post that came true. I, or anyone else, could have put that out there on their Twitter account when everyone was excited and looking for info.
