Bridgewater was the last safe clear upgrade, unfortunately. The list that remains all have questions marks when it comes to age and/or performance. Matakevitch isn't going anywhere. With the losses of Taiwan Jones, Jake Kumerow, and others who were core Special Teamers - Matakevitch is clearly the Captain of the Special Teams. He is currently on the PUP. I don't know if it's a short term issue that will have him activated for Week 1 or it's something longer. If he isn't activated by Week 1, his roster spot could temporarily go to someone else. But make no mistake about it, when he's activated, he's on the 53.

Mine is very close. But Reggie Gilliam is staying and that's not even a question. He plays a number of roles for this team and was given a two year extension just last season. I'd say the differences between mine and yours would be Boettger and Lewis are Practice Squad and Reggie Gilliam and either Boogie Basham or Shane Ray sticks. And while I like Sternberger sticking instead of Quintin Morris, I think he'd really have to play extremely well in the Pre-Season for that to happen. Even then, they might put Sternberger on the Practice Squad. The team really likes Morris. Hamlin and Phillips? What? Damar Hamlin will not be cut. Either he's ready to roll mentally and physically, in which case he's unquestionably the 4th Safety. Or he's not and he's put on a Reserve list. After everything he's been through, they aren't going to outright cut the guy. Especially when you consider you need 3 vested years in the league to earn a pension and he's only had 2. They'd never straight screw him over like that. Jordan Phillips? No way. When healthy, he's one of our most productive Defensive Lineman. If we didn't want him, we'd have never re-signed him. And he just came off the PUP and is ready to roll. We aren't going to keep less than 5 DT's (there were times last year during injuries where we had 6 or 7). And honestly, if there was a cut there, I'd cut Settle before Phillips.

I was surprised to see he was with the 1's on the 1st series at the Red and Blue scrimmage in the Slot. They also had Kincaid lined up behind Knox on the line and then set him into motion. He caught a TD that night too. He's been impressing all Camp. If that series is any indication, with Diggs, Kincaid, Davis, and Knox all also on the field at the same time - Sherfield is going to be find himself open pretty often.

But I wouldn't be against bringing someone in from the list for the Pre-Season and maybe Practice Squad just to have a look see or an emergency fall back.

I mean, I don't know for sure as I don't know all 31 other teams most visited message boards. That said when something happens like us signing a player from another team and I go looking for that teams message board, more often than not I find a board that barely has any recent posts on it.

I'm positive between how safe this regime plays things and after the signing of Leonard Floyd that they're going to take their time. I think Floyd's signing was almost entirely about having another stud on the starting Line that could buy Von time to get 100%

This late in Camp, Bridgewater is in jeopardy of not being on a roster this season. That and a year older, you're looking closer to 4 than 6.5. That would still involve a move or two to be made. But there are moves to be made. If Josh were to be lost for the season, we're screwed either way. But with what Kyle has shown, I think we'd be in trouble in the short term where someone like Bridgewater is more capable of pulling out a win or two. Pickens are slim when it comes to who's available now. It's Bridgewater, Carson Wentz, and Matt Ryan (who I think is shot) as far as the best available guys. But at this point from what we've seen in Camp, I'd definitely be looking into bringing another guy in for the Pre-Season to cover our butts.

If we're honestly asking if we're better off having Matt Barkley as our backup, I think we need to sign another QB to be the Backup.

Outside of MLB, Backup QB. Literally everywhere else is upgraded or the same.

Yeah, Kyle did not look good at the Blue and Red Scrimmage I was at too. I get what they're saying when they say replacing him would mean cutting one of Josh's closest friends. But let's be honest, that why Barkley is here too. In my opinion, one or the other can stick on the Practice Squad for comradery. But not both. We should be calling up Teddy Bridgewater's agent at this point. He can at least steer the ship if Josh had a minor injury. I don't see Kyle being able to do that.

When the NFL switched to Nike jerseys in the late 2000's, for the first couple seasons or so the Bills had jersey collars that were not so affectionately referred to as "The Toilet Bowl Jerseys". Named that because the collar would be 3/4 Blue on a White Jersey or White on a Blue Jersey and then the opposite color for the other quarter, looking like a Toilet Bowl around the neck. I remember hating the look of it on jerseys I purchased during that time period. Luckily, the Bills decided after the first couple years to change to an all solid collar that looked more natural and better all around for all the years that followed. However, if the Blue and Red Scrimmage is any indication, it seems they've returned. If it's a league wide thing where every team in the league is mandated to do it, so be it. Otherwise, I'm not sure why they'd make the choice to bring this style back.

At the Blue and Red scrimmage today, the first Scrimmage play was a hand off to James Cook. He quickly bounced to the outside on a well sealed edge and glided for a big gain.

I'm all for Bills players getting in the Hall of Fame. But Butch Byrd? Has he ever even been on the ballot? He's been eligible for decades. I've never heard him getting consideration.

Khalil Shakir is consistently taking #1 Slot reps but to some fans of this board he's not a lock to make the roster and "has to earn it".

Or they want to see what each of the young guys bring to the table there early in Camp, already knowing what they have in Klein. It's just as likely of a scenario that they've already determined he's not going to Start for us but will be a steady veteran backup. Players given reps with 1's at a position in Training Camp during a battle and then not making the roster is not unheard of. Especially if he's one of 3 being cycled through and this early in Camp. Doubly so for a 7th Rounder who had 12 snaps in the prior season.

Spector is a fan favorite, but I don't see him making the roster this season. At most we're going to keep 6 LB's. A lot of times we've only kept 5. But that was when we had to Pro Bowl caliber starters in Edmunds and Milano. With the dropoff at MLB this season (as well as investing another Day 2 pick on a LB), I think we keep an extra this season. But Spector is still the odd man out to me. Milano is an All Pro and the one sure fire starter we have, he's obviously locked in. Bernard and Williams are Day 2 Draft investments, one a Rookie and the other going into just his 2nd season. So neither are going anywhere (regardless of what anyone here thinks of Bernard). Matakevitch is Captain of the Special Teams, so he's also safe. Then it's Dodson, Klein, and Spector. I think Klein, Dodson, and Bernard will represent who will be manning MLB for us. One will start, not sure who, and we may cycle between them to keep one fresh at all times since there's a talent drop off. But yeah, I think Spector's Practice Squad bound this season. The LB core of the 53 will almost surely be Milano, Bernard, Williams, Dodson, Klein, and Matakevitch, in my opinion. Beane said in his last Presser that he's not going to be playing MLB this season. He's going to be Milano's backup. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing because when Milano needs a breather or if he gets banged up, we haven't had someone capable back there.

I couldn't disagree with you both more. Shakir is safe. I don't think he's "the second coming of Jerry Rice". But he played well being brought along slowly as a Rookie and has been talked up by Beane and McDermott post season as in line to get more reps going into Year 2. The Drafting of Kincaid will surely mean he's going to being splitting reps in the Slot. But he isn't going anywhere barring injury. At the end of the day, Isabella is only making it if we decide to keep 7 WR's or someone gets injured. Diggs, Davis, Harty, Shakir, Sherfield, and Shorter are pretty much set in stone - save for an injury.

Not really. Usually don't cut a 5th Round Pick in the same year. 6th Round is usually the ceiling for same year Draft Picks cuts. Justin Shorter would really have to fall on his face in an epic fashion to not make the 53. Beane even said when he picked him he envisioned him "having a jersey" Year 1 as a Special Teamer, at least. I don't think Shorter is going anywhere Year 1. With his physical attributes and where he was selected, it would be a risky proposition trying to sneak him on the Practice Squad and keep him there.

Now we wait to hear which from the list of KeeSean Johnson, Dezmon Patmon, Isaiah Coulter, Jalen Wayne, Tyrell Shavers, Bryan Thompson, or Marcell Ateman are released to make room.

Beane likes to get a shot at guys that he liked in Previous Drafts but missed out on. I like the idea of bringing in guys who were highly touted coming out of College and were Day 1-2 Draft Picks and seeing if there's something there that can be capitalized on with a change of scenery. Low risk, potentially high reward - even if the potential for high reward is a small one. Been a lot of that this offseason between Shane Ray, Darrynton Evans, Jace Sternberger, Cameron Dantzler, and now potentially Andy Isabella.

He had issues with injuries. Also D'Onta Foreman rose into a very solid RB for them during his time there. He never really had much of an opportunity. So they see untapped potential. And ultimately, Beane brought in Hines for his speed, receiving ability, and return ability. He wanted another RB like that. Evans fits that same type of build.

We signed him

Well 2 of those numbers will be going to Darrynton Evans and Jace Sternberger. Probably #25 and #84 if I had to guess.

This is the exact type of signing you make to replace Nyheim Hines. I couldn't roll my eyes harder at people saying we should get Saquon or Dalvin when the injury was announced. That would have been like saying "we need Hopkins now" if Trent Sherfield went down. We weren't going to move Cook or Harris down the pecking order because Nyheim Hines got hurt. Evans was someone Beane liked a lot heading into the 2020 Draft. We visited with him multiple times Pre-Draft. I was honestly a little surprised that we drafted Zack Moss instead. Evans was the next RB off the board. With Hines going down, I knew Beane would be looking for a similar style RB - as the Speed, Return, and Catch Ability is what brought Hines here. Evans was a converted WR with 4.41 speed. A former 3rd Round Pick who just turned 25. He had some injuries and never really got much of a shot in Tennessee. He's an intriguing prospect and I wouldn't be shocked to see him make the 53 in front of Murray, if he seizes this opportunity to reclaim his career.
