  1. You do understand most star RB's in the league weren't selected in Round 1, right? And Breece Hall doesn't have the complete skillset of the studs that were. If this were two seasons ago and you focused only on the top two guys, CEH and D'Andre Swift, and said "why take one at all" if you can't get one of them - you'd have had us not drafting the 3rd best prospect, Jonathan Taylor
  2. No, we didn't. We did meet with Rachaad White though. But he's not Breece Hall, so he's apparently not worth talking about.
  3. In relation to my point, he is. Najee Harris was taken at 24 and Travis Etienne were taken at 25. Breece Hall may be (and I'm not even convinced he is) the top RB in the Draft. But he's not the prospect that both of them were, nor did he have the college career, or production that they did. Again, I'm predicting a RB will not go as high as they did. As for who I want in Round 1? A Cornerback. Idk if you've noticed, but we don't have a CB2 and our CB1 won't be ready to start the season. We're looking at starting Dane Jackson and Cam Lewis right now. And if we don't retain Bates, we'll need a Starting Guard. And Beane has spoken of needing speed at WR. We don't have that. I'm in on taking a RB. But I think a good one can be had in Round 3. People need to stop obsessing over one guy. Watch some James Cook footage. Check out Isaiah Spiller. Breece Hall isn't so much better that he's worth ignoring other needs just to have the "It" guy.
  4. Everybody likes to point to them being interested in Etienne as reasoning that we'll be in on Hall. Two things - 1.) Hall is not Etienne. 2.) There's no saying that we would have taken Etienne at 30 if he were there. People made the connection (just as they're doing this season) that his value was in where we were selecting and that we don't have a game breaking RB. But I'd bet dollars to donuts that we still would have selected Rousseau, even if Etienne were there. They said they didn't expect him to be there. I doubt we would have passed on him for a RB. Hell, we STILL selected another DE after we took Rousseau. Which says to me DE was the focal point going in. Beane's MO is to not spend premium draft picks or premium money on the RB position. And I think that's the right call. We're only looking for a complimentary back next to Singletary. That's why we agreed to a deal with McKissic for 3.5 million per. If selecting Hall in the first were a thought, we wouldn't have made that move. And you don't shift from that to taking a guy in the 1st. It doesn't make sense. So? You don't reach for a guy just because they won't be there 32 picks later. Especially at that position.
  5. I feel like Breece Hall is not the talent that Najee Harris or Travis Etienne was coming out of college. I'd bet despite all the hype and the mocks, a RB doesn't come off the board until Round 2.
  6. Trent McDuffie and Chris Olave both being on the board at #25 is an ideal situation for us. However, I think they'd go McDuffie over Olave and wait until Round 2 or 3 for WR. Also, I see no way we can afford to wait until Round 3 for CB with Tre most likely not ready Week 1 and after losing Levi Wallace (who we were looking to upgrade from). And I really don't see SEVEN WR's going between our 1st and 2nd pick. Even if they did, not selecting Olave would push Metchie to us in your draft. Would much rather go McDuffie 1, Metchie 2. As for OG - I wouldn't select one higher than Round 3. Even if we don't retain Bates, I think we'd bring in a veteran there on a bargain deal for RG. Even Saffold was just a 4.2 million cap hit. I'd bet we could land one later in FA for the 2.5 we tied up in the Bates tender. Certainly a lot easier to get a cheap quality OG then it is a starting CB. Then it's developmental depth in the Draft at OG, No higher than Round 3 or 4. Also - I'm not in the Draft a RB in Round 1 camp. But if Kenneth Walker is still on the board in Round 2 and we've gotten our CB in Round 1... man, I gotta give that some serious thought. Especially with Singletary and Duke Johnson both on one year deals.
  7. If it's that important to them, maybe we should just let them have it. They need it more than we do and we hardly play with that toy anymore 😛
  8. This may be true. But you never know. Chicago's offer might not be that much more. And Beane's full of surprises. I agree, it's probably more likely we don't retain him. But I'm not counting that egg until it hatches.
  9. I'm not counting Ryan Bates leaving until we announce we aren't matching the Bears offer. If Bates comes back, I think our starting OL is set for this season and we're just looking for depth and development for next season. If we lose him, than our cap space goes from 2.98 to about 5.48 or so (as Bates tender has already been factored in). With that little extra space, I think we can find either a mid tier starting Guard or a cheaper vet CB that can hopefully be at least average for us until Tre is ready. Though I'd imagine we could find a Guard easier. A Gilmore, Bradberry type move isn't possible. Maybe Haden comes in for a few million, but even that is pushing it. But counting tea leaves, it's a Round 1 or 2 Draft Pick and Dane Jackson on the outside with Taron Johnson in the nickel, until Tre is ready. I'm not in the camp that a Round 1 CB can't be solid right out of the gate. I think there's a good chance that they could provide a lot more than any veteran in our price range.
  10. We signed Duke Johnson at 1 year, 1 million. I'm not convinced he even makes the squad. I'd bet he would have been signed even if McKissic hadn't spurned us. My feeling is that he's camp competition for Zach Moss and someone we end up drafting in the mid rounds. One will be active on game days as the complimentary to Singletary, one will be the replacement for that Yeldon/Breida 3rd RB "break glass in case of emergency" role, mostly inactive unless there's an injury, and one will be released.
  11. Unless we come to an agreement on an extension for Diggs, I don't see how we can sign anyone of true substance. We've done pretty much all the releases and restructures we could just to do what we've already done. Beane has said time and again that we're pretty much done. Any acquisitions going forward will be of the 1 year variety for people who "value opportunity over money". Signings like Duke Johnson for 1 million in cap space and Jamison Crowder in 1.98 million in cap space are those types of moves. Signing a quality starting Corner and being able to fit them in is a huge ask. It appears we're all in on the Draft.
  12. There seems to be 3 lines of thinking amongst fans: 1.) Take Breece Hall in Round 1 2.) Take a RB in the middle rounds 3.) Don't take a RB at all, maybe Round 6 or 7 I'm FIRMLY in Camp 2. I think people in Camps 1 and 3 are nuts.
  13. They don't like me on the Breece Hall thread - but they'd REALLY dislike you 😆
  14. I'm not advocating a RB before Round 3 at the earliest. But not taking one at any point in the Draft is a mistake. They targeted JD McKissic early in FA at 2 years, 7 million. So they are looking to upgrade the complimentary position to Singletary with someone who provides more in the Receiving game. And I don't think Duke on a 1 year deal worth 1 million is anything more than competition with Moss as RB3.
  15. This mock doesn't have "CB x2 in the first 4 rounds". It has one taken in Round 3 and one in Round 6. We have a hole at CB2 and Tre White won't be ready to go Week 1. We can't afford anyone of substance in FA or Trade. Right now we're sitting with Dane Jackson at CB1, Cam Lewis at CB2, and Taron Johnson at the slot to start the season and you're cool waiting until Round 3 at CB?
  16. Think you're misunderstanding me. I'm saying in this mock, we didn't take a CB before Round 3. I agree - we absolutely need one in Round 1, Round 2 at the absolute latest. Devin Singletary, Duke Johnson, and Zack Moss are not a TON of RB's. Especially when you consider what Duke and Moss bring to the table. Personally, I feel Duke and Moss should be a competition for #3 - one stays, one goes. I'm not for taking a RB in Round 1. But we have to take one at some point. We can't go in to next season with the same backfield minus Breida, plus Duke. That's a wash and we need more from that position, especially the 2 spot.
  17. No CB before Round 3. No WR before Round 4. No RB at all. Do not like.
  18. The issue here is that if they're willing to pay his salary and take on his 22 million dollar cap hit (does it work that way? Do they take the cap hit too? Otherwise, it doesn't matter if they're paying his salary - we can't take a 22 million cap hit) - I'd imagine they're going to want at least a Day 2 pick for him. Idk that I'd want to give up a premium pick for a guy on a 1 year rental, as he's a FA after this season.
  19. KC is in a better cap position than we are and even they want him to lower his asking price. Common sense would have said that him not being signed yet was bc his asking price is too high, even before this report. And I know people like to point to Beane's signings of Duke Johnson and Jamison Crowder as him lying when he stated they were done. But that's not what he said. He said any acquisitions going forward would be budget signings, most likely of the one year variety, for people "who value opportunity over money" to improve their stock for next season. Duke is a 1 million cap hit on 1 year. Jamison is a 1.98 million cap hit on 1 year. Stephon Gilmore does not fit this billing. We can't afford him.
  20. McDermott has used a roster spot for a special teams gunner since Day 1. The year we didn't have Taiwan, we had Senorise Perry in the role. So if it wasn't Taiwan, it would have been someone else. And if that gunner were at a different position, it wouldn't add another RB on the roster or another RB on Game Day. We'd just carry 3 RB's instead of 4 and we'd still carry 2 RB's on Game Day. This is how McDermott operates. It is what it is. People need to get over it.
  21. Oh, there's no way Walker would be there in Round 3. That's why I said I'd do backflips. I usually pick James Cook in Round 3 or Rachaad White or Zamir White in Round 4. When I saw Walker still on the board, I laughed.
  22. If their plan is to replace Tyreek Hill with Skyy Moore and Laviska Shenault, have at it boys.
  23. I would do backflips if this was our first 3 rounds 😆
  24. Has anybody noticed getting a CB without reaching is WAY harder on The Draft Network than any other simulator?
  25. I could see Olave. Williams and especially Wilson, no. London, Wilson, Williams will def be gone. But it wouldn't shock me if Treyvon Burks went before him and perhaps another surprise WR, as Dotson and Watson have been getting a lot of buzz as of late.
