  1. Since Posey's contract is up after next year, and we spent a 3rd round pick on Crowell, does anyone see Crowell stepping into the starting lineup next year? Can he play in the NFL, and by play, I mean be a bit of a playmaker? I'm not sure he ever had a chance. Any thoughts from the LB gurus?
  2. I've been playing in various leagues for years. Let me tell you something....those bats should be taken off the market. The ball is hit too hard. I've seen guys, good players mind you, at 3B, have their faces shattered in tournament play by those bats. The team using them was DQ'd when the ref realized what was going on, but it didn't help the 2 guys who were sent to the hospital.
  3. He was undersized for a DE, and unable to keep the speed he had when he added a ton of weight. He would have been a decent situational pass rusher. Is it his fault the folks at the combine made him the #9 overall pick?? Unable to play football? Now thats a bit much. He almost singlehandedly destroyed Notre Dame in consecutive years for BC, including once when ND was ranked #1. In the 2 ND games he had 6 sacks and over a dozen tackles with a forced fumble. He was unblockable. Great college player, miscast as a pro DE, might have been a decent 3rd down pass rusher in the right system.
  4. AL: Yankees, Twins, Angels & Red Sox (WC) NL: Braves, Cardinals, Padres & Phillies (WC) Series: Yanks over Braves MVPs: Sheffield & Pujols CY Youngs: Unit & Smoltz
  5. I think the 2nd round swap is so we get a shot at Matt Jones. I think its gonna happen. Else I'd like to see C or CB in the 2nd rd. TE Kevin Everett in the 3rd.
  6. I have a couple of questions for all the people who were protesting....do you people have jobs? If so, why were you not at them? If not, why not? And how in the hell are you supporting yourselves? Seriously, even if I felt very strongly about an issue, there is no way I could tell my boss I'm taking a few weeks off to go protest. Utterly ridiculous.
  7. Again, who is the rest of your team. Both pitching and hitting. And what are the league categories? Roto, points or H2H? I'm inclined to say go for it b/c Rollins is so good, but need to know the rest.
  8. In addition to Rich's choices, I would add nominations for Alaska Darin & Jay Rosen for outstanding contributions to the board.
  9. SpikedLemonade...where are you??
  10. Very interesting article. Maybe Teflon Tom is dragging his feet??? Hey Tommy, you have some 'splainin to do!! Some quotes... And the most interesting one... http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=ap-b...ov=ap&type=lgns
  11. Finally, utility is an easy position to fill. Just pick up the hot bat du jour and let it ride.
  12. Absolutely NOT! 2B is the thinnest position this year. I don't know your categories, but even with standard 5x5, no deal. You'd be getting raked over the coals. Cabrera is good, but he's an OF and you have Ordonez (I assume Magglio). I would not deal Soriano at all. But, if I was going to deal him, I'd ask for 2 players back, a 2B and a SS (Jeter or Nomar, Lugo ain't gonna cut it). Forget keeper league vs non-keeper league, figure out who you are keeping in July (if not in contention).
  13. There are still guys out there I'd love to see the Bills get... I still think the Shelton/Henry trade will go down. Sign Bennie Anderson of the Ravens (UFA) Then your left side has Shelton & Anderson on it. Thats damn nice to run behind. Other moves.... Sign Anthony Thomas or Tyrone Wheatley to backup Willis. Sign Marcus Bell to add to the DL rotation. I'd be thrilled if we ended right there....but if we wanted to get cute.... Sign Kevin Johnson or Corey Bradford as the slot WR Sign Ty Law to an incentive laden deal I think we go C or TE in the draft. The C would be to replace Teague when his contract runs out after next season.
  14. With their current teams, they are tied in number of playoff appearances...
  15. Garza played with Atlanta last year
  16. We still have options... Bennie Anderson - Ravens - This guy is huge. Ht: 6-5 Wt: 345 Position: OG Projected as: OG Position Rank: 9 Date of Birth: 2/17/1977 Experience: 4 High School: Cleveland NJROTC Academy (St. Louis, MO) College: Tennessee State Biography: Bennie Anderson went from playing for the XFL's Chicago Enforcers to starting for the defending Super Bowl champions in a matter of months. 17. 1/2 day for me tomorrow. Have to have the corned beef, cabbage and Guiness for lunch and one of the great Irish pubs in lower Manhattan (Beekman probably). Seems lunch will last well into the wee hours!!
  18. I think the News is wrong. The quote no source from the Bills about the numbers, TD said yesterday "Don't believe ESPN's numbers." I'd like to know where we stand, but I'm not sure who is correct. Unless I hear something from the Bills themselves, any number is going to make me skeptical.
  19. I do hope we resign Prileau. He was our leading ST tackler. TD offered him a 3 year deal, which reduced his rate but his agent thought he could do better elsewhere. Here's hoping he can't and TD takes him back, cause I'd love to have him here again.
  20. FREEDOM!!!!! FREEEEEEEDOM!!!!! A revolution of epic proportions, allowing Erie COunty to secede from the waste that is NYS and join, hmmmmmmm, Hawaii, as long a we get discounted airfare!!
  21. What about Giambra? Maybe we should include him as well, just in case he gets any future ideas.
  22. They have the past 2 years spent cash to improve it. Think about it. They now have Phat Pat and Kevin Williams at DT, Udeze at one DE, Napolean Harris at LB, A. Winfield, Smoot & Sharper in the 2ndary, and 2 1st rd picks. These are only the players they brought in the last 2 years (thru draft or FA). They can basically have any player they want. Now I know that McCombs is cheap & positioning to sell the team, but I think they are doing something with accounting of incentives and bonuses that ensures oodles of cap room for years to come (regardless of what they spend). Why can't we do that?
  23. Everyone should flood their inboxes with emails stating, in a clear, poliye manner, that they ought to resign due to the mess they made in Erie County and before they do any further damage with the Bills.
  24. West Seneca/Buffalo/29/Brooklyn
  25. I have a question here... Every year, at least recently, Minnesota has been about 30 mil under the salary cap. Apparently this happens for two reasons. (1) Minnesota builds difficult to reach incentives into contracts, counting them against their cap as "likely-to-be-earned" and when they are not reached, the team receives a cap credit the following year. And (2) They do not backload contracts, thereby eliminating the need to restructure. Here is an article documenting the procedure... http://www.startribune.com/stories/510/4892214.html In essence, Minnesota operates with virtually no cap, as the team is always so far under they are able to operate based on cash on hand. They can aquire any player they can legitimately afford. My question is, why aren't we doing this, and what, if anything, is the downside?
