  1. I like Dinger best, but he's going to Denver. Arians is a name I didn't think of and he might be an excellent choice. Caldwell, I would support wholeheartedly. Thing is, given the Jauron focus on D, we need an OC who has some experience doing the job because he'd be on his own. We need a Dan Henning type, not a guy who has just been elevated from QB/WR/RB coach and is looking to prove how smart he is to become a HC in 2-3 years. I really think that is a recipe for disaster. This is why I think Palmer or even Joe Pendry wouldn't be bad choices. I'd be MUCH more concerned with a guy like Fairchild or some other 30something with something to prove on his way to becoming a HC (think Mularkey in Pitt).
  2. They can have him. He was Greggos RB coach in 01 and 02. Do you guys remember our RBs doing anything of note in 01? Henry was decent in 02, but c'mon. I'd like to see EXPERIENCE.
  3. And Oakland is very much over the cap and will need to make some cuts. Having a player such as Big Ted publicly say he wants to play for another team and coach, is one way to ensure he is one of the cuts.
  4. Thats AWESOME. Can you imagine Big Ted next to Sam??? Forget about running the ball up the middle. WOW!! C'mon Marv, get er done!!
  5. Alright you POS, now you pissed me off. As someone who worked across the street from the WTC on 9/11 (and still does), the ONLY reason the towers fell was due to an act of depraved murder and violence so horrific that it sickens the soul. You say innocent people are dying...you're right. There were over 3000 innocent people in those towers and on those planes, some of whom were very good friends of mine. What did they do? They went to work, school, or boarded an aircraft that day. Folks such as USMCBills fan are fighting in Iraq, Afghanistan and soon to be Iran, to ensure that nothing as sick and depraved ever happens to innocent Americans again. I salute and commend all of our Armed Forces men and women for protecting innocent Americans from ever having to experience what I saw and lived through on 9/11. You use words such as "unjust" and "dead bodies strewn on streets without a care" and think you have a clue. I'll tell you about dead bodies "strewn on streets without a care" but the names of the streets are Liberty Street, Church Street, Broadway and Maiden Lane...all streets here in lower Manhattan. "Unjust"...you have no idea what that word means...its "unjust" for a single mother working as a receptionist at Cantor to decide if she has to jump 107 floors to her death or face the flames...knowing that her daughter is inside the WTC Day Care Center and not being able to know if her child is alive...that is the very definition of "unjust." You want to continue????
  6. Seattle has the cap room to sign both Hutch and Alexander. So we won't get Hutch. Backus, I love. He should our LT next year. I would love a run at Bentley. Perhaps... LT - Backus LG - 2nd Round Draft Pick C - Bentley RG - Villarial RT - Peters MW gets cut and we save the 5mil and give it to Bentley.
  7. Donnie Henderson would really be a nice hire. I'd be very glad to have him running the D. The offense on the other hand....
  8. Good. I just hope we don't end up with Steve "I was #4 on Greggo's list" Fairchild.
  9. If you see year-to-year progress, sure. A cowher coached team has never gotten out of hand the way Mularkey's team did this year.
  10. DC - Cottrell, Capers, Bates (May want to re-establish himself quickly, Buffalo D with decent blocks could do it). OC - Wyche, Caldwell, Pendry? I didn't think Pendry was that bad. He ran the ball. Well.
  11. Ummm, midtown. And you'd have an easy walk from Penn Station (LIRR) to your office, 2-3 blocks.
  12. MaCI Fundriaser Tonite... sponsered by Starbucks!!
  13. No, local writers sought out one of the few current Bills who had actually played for Jauron. Thats all.
  14. Buddy has both my eternal thanks (for doing that) and my eternal wrath (for not hitting him harder).
  15. As the Lackawanna-born grandson of one those steelworkers, I say great post!! Ask your Dad if he ever spent any time at Baich's Tavern or Copper John's in Lackawanna.
  16. That was a GREAT win, wasn't it? I really enjoyed that game.
  17. Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but we just hired a Head Coach not a defensive coordinator, right? We have been burnt the last couple of years hiring coordinators who didn't have the stones or moxie to be head man. Jauron, as evidenced by Villy's article (I respect Villy a lot, BTW), can be a head coach. He'll only be better his second time around. Get Capers or Bates in here as DC and lets get this thing rolling.
  18. I support Jauron and I support Levy to pick a coach. And I won't do it anonymously!!
  19. Man, I'm actually quite suprised at the level of animosity toward Jauron. Of all the candidates we interviewed when we hired MM, I thought he was the 2nd best one (after Weis), and would have been thrilled if we had hired him. I was ambivalent between him and Sherman. I'm just glad they went with an experienced guy. I think Dick Jauron will be a good choice. I believe he will have learned from his mistakes and will be a decent head coach. I just hope we get an experienced OC/DC.
  20. That depends, if the #8 pick could be dealt (along with perhaps our 1st in 07) for Sherman's old QB. Favre.
  21. Alcohol at the stadium isn't really the problem. It would be more of a symbolic gesture. How many here have had more than 2-3 beers at the stadium, ever? I never have. Its too damn expensive. The problem is the parking lots. She may have a point in denying entry, but who's to tell if someone is obviously intoxicated? Sure if they're throwing up walking into the stadium, fine, but could the Bills deny entry to someone who paid their 50 bucks or whatever, based upon apparent intoxication? Its not like they have breathalyzers set up at the gates. Also, do they want to get into arguments with "drunks" regarding entry and further delay the process? Its really a no-win situation. She identified a legitimate problem but offers up half-hearted solutions.
  22. Green Bay fans, thanks for all the insight. I appreciate it. It sounds like Sherman would be an excellent coach (I like conservative with tough D) and I'm excited he may be here. To answer a couple of questions...Jerry Grey would run a pretty good D for you guys if you had the right personnel. He runs schemes he learned from Gregg Williams and Dick LeBeau, so expect your D to look like Pitt or Wash. He has traditionally been very good at halftime adjustments, in 04 the Bills D didn't allow a 3rd quarter TD all season. We stumbled badly this year, however. BUT, and its a big but, if you don't have the right personel, you will get beat by the big play. Last year (04), our D constantly went for the big play, and usually made it. We came up with a bunch of turnovers and sacks. In 05, we REALLY missed Pat Williams (who should have been re-signed by our then-idiot GM Tom Donahoe) and the run D suffered. Consequently, we had to commit more people to run-stuff and were unable to be as agressive. Losing your best player to injury, Takeo Spikes, hurt as well. Bottom line is your D would probably imporve for a year or two, until the league got film on you and figured out how to beat the schemes. Of course, then you may be in rebuilding mode as Favre would retire and Grey may have moved on. It really would not be a bad move for you.
  23. The Vikings hired a bunch of women on Lake Minnetonka this year.
