  1. Good for him...he's a good man. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warrick_Dunn
  2. Eh. pV = nRT. Brownian Movement. Clausius-Clapeyron equation. Carnot cycle. The intensive/extensive properties. Scalar and non-scalar vectors. Wives. I love flinging out terms I used to be up on.
  3. I dunno - I think the tot has a promising future in politics.
  4. Is auto tranny current code for that? I'd never know... Don't know if it's urban legend or not, but it was bandied about that there was film released to some theaters, that showed Heston wearing a wristwatch in the chariot race scene. Nice link...kudos to Heston and the others - I'd say that most have had a bit of time on a saddle somewhere along the way, but holding the reins on 4 steeds hauling a chariot...
  5. Arrested? Never. Bringing shame upon my family's name is beyond unthinkable. Shame about one's actions seems to be very much back-burner these days, though. There used to be a gesture - stroking one index finger across the other, which meant "for shame, for shame"... I haven't seen it used for decades. But everybody's special now!
  6. Thanks, LM - That's the impression re recruiting that I got.
  7. Heh. I made a journey once to Ye Merry Olde for the auto company I worked for. They set it up that I had the use of one of the spiffy models. That was very kind of them, but in my heart of hearts, I knew there was nothing good that could come out of me negotiating around RH drive England in a large, powerful sedan (saloon!) with the added complication of it being a 5-speed manual. I put on the proper diplomatic behavior hat, and somehow, they found me a rare bird - an auto tranny Polo sedan.
  8. Gordio, people have flaws. I'm not a hero worshipper by any means - certainly few in sports. I wouldn't cross the road to speak with President or Pope, decent souls as they may be. I have never bought a single piece of sports paraphernalia - I don't have a stitch of clothing with any business's logo. But IMO, the NFL is full of decent young men - much more so than not. Here, numerous players have established substantial charities - I am sure the same exists among BUF players, and across the league. There was something in the news recently, about Charles Woodson forking over $2M for some good purpose. I have memory of the decent actions of many a CIN player, and I'm sure that folks residing in WNY could relate same. Anyone who has graciously bothered to read my posts over time obviously has detected that I'm not exactly the world's most optimistic guy (understatement there) - but please try to see a way to find the good in these youngsters, my friend.
  9. Years ago, when I traveled to W. Germany with some frequency, headlights were flashed, and you pulled back over, as a matter of course. For reasons unknown here, such is occasionally considered to be fighting words. Go figure...
  10. I'm no fan of violence, but there is such a thing as cosmic justice.
  11. Do you live in a gated community in Utopiaville, USA?...
  12. Could be - but the characterization as him being a major criminal is far-fetched...you missed my point.
  13. Yes - that "just starting to turn his life around" stuff is common - I see it all the time when somebody dies while perpratating yet another crime. As to 5 arrests (somebody here referred to him as a major criminal or some such), I wish that that were the criterion for being called a major offender. Here in Cincy - the same in cities across the nation - folks commit unspeakable crimes, and have an arrest record, often violent, numbering in the 20's, 30's, 40's etc. We here have one of those "Crimestopper" programs like many localities do - a police officer talks on the morning radio about this or that one, and chronically, they have these extensive records. Henry's criminal record wouldn't merit a single blip on the so-called "radar".
  14. I recall the sad case of OAK's Barret Robbins. Life can be so hard for people, sometimes. Seems he doing better these days - good for him: http://www.nbcbayarea.com/news/sports/Barr...-And-Sober.html
  15. I read something a few weeks about a "National Signing Day" or some such, for high school prospects. Feb. 3rd comes to mind. I don't know why the NCAA can't/won't push that back? - the idea, as I have also read, being that getting a new coach on board early is to go and work the deals - dunno.
  16. Can you give me the conversion to British pounds, please?
  17. I just heard on the local radio here in Cincy that he has passed away. They said that they can't yet verify that. EDIT: There is now verification from the Charlotte PD... Tough year for the CIN club, with DC Zimmer's wife dying suddenly several weeks ago. As well as for BUF, with Ralph's daughter passing away in April. R.I.P.
  18. Here's one I have never figured out: The roadway is clear, I'm doing the limit, and ahead is somebody in the right lane driving, say 5 mph less. That's ok - I do that myself from time to time, but if traffic is such that I would be an impediment, I speed back up. I approach the slower driver, signal my intentions, pass well ahead, then signal and drop back in the rt. lane. Somehow, this affronts that slower driver - they speed up, pass, me, then slow down again. This can go on and on.
  19. Good article by the Cincinnati Enquirer's Paul Daugherty in today's paper... http://news.cincinnati.com/article/2009121...tions+for+Jones
  20. That's just...plain... mean.
  21. That's another reason why I almost exclusively drink Milwaukee Ice...absolutely no pressure on me to dig into my vocabulary and come up with witty adjectives while I'm snockered...
  22. ND's been a member of the Big East for some time, in athletics other that football. Here's the rah-rah official site: http://www.bigeast.org/ViewArticle.dbml?&a...;ATCLID=1150057
  23. There are always some players - child-like- that have buttons that are very easy to push. Some taunting chatter by a DL when everybody's in their stance- bingo - he's off . After his years, he's not going to learn anything.
  24. There's not a jursidiction in the nation, that couldn't balance their budget by simply putting their police force on most any corner and issuing tickets for failure to signal intent. As well as States that require a front license tag. I bet half the lunks in my daily travels won't bother to put on the front plate given to them. Easy money, to good purpose... BTW - message to the late-night crowd - a burnt-out tail light, a brake light, a bum headlight, no front plate if required, are mother's milk to your police force. They will pick you off every time when the sun goes down, because you made yourself an easy target.
