  1. Hogged-out watermelons.
  2. The line in my local paper shows NE* by 7. Been a while since I've seen that low edge. An optimistic angel is sitting on my shoulder (what a rarity! ) telling me that unless the ref crew is headed by certain chaps - notably, Don Carey, Scott Green, or Carl Cheffers, they have a legit shot.
  3. I hear recently, that certain third-world nations want a trillion dollars forked over to them - Asian and African and South American. Despotic regimes - I'm not aware of a true democracy that is poverty-stricken - forking money over to any these tyrannical regimes is the ultimate in stupidity. They merely will line their pockets in same fashion, like any aid they received through the years. These clucks now in Copenhagen, living the high life, talk about stupidities like...windmills. Those nations need things like sanitary water supplies, sewage systems,a certain level of reliable power supplies, help in fighting malaria, HIV, shovels, seeds, etc. Not...windmills. Cap 'n trade is the ultimate con job, IMO. The profits, huge monetary gains for a few, and the losses socialized and heaped and extracted from the hides of the many. Your hide. Your kid's hide. Your parent's hide. This global warning crowd is exceptionally jaded, and in deep love with their own fannies. Holding this dog 'n pony show in Copenhagen in the winter? How idiotic. If I were calling their shots, it would be held in the summer somewhere with a sweltering climate. IIRC, AlGore had something similar in NYC a few years ago, when near record-low temps took place. BTW - as an exercise, trace Al's money trail and how he's lined himself up to garner billions off this.
  4. Oh. Isn't there a rear sight already incorporated in the handle? And a front sight? I'm aware of that firearm, but that's where my knowledge stops. FWIW, if you buy mainstream ammunition, I'm a fan of Winchester's offerings. That's based on chambering problems with Remington's shotshell cartridges, though. BTW, If you own a revolver (living in FL - you should), Win's factory Silvertip bullet loads are tops, IMO. My personal .44 Special piece is loaded with a Federal shot shell, followed by a Cor-Bon composite, then three 200 gr. Silvertips.
  5. Why do you say that?
  6. Perhaps. When Pike was out, his replacement, Zach Collaros, put up big stats: http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/player/profile?playerId=232807 U Cinn has a trio of good receivers, a game approach that emphasizes getting the ball up field in big chunks, and an OL that isn't especially big, but somehow does a bang-up job of pass protection. Pike got taken to the cleaners in '09's Orange Bowl against VT - 1 td pass, 4 interceptions. I'm fairly certain that CIN has an eye on him, though. We'll have to wait and see how he does in the Sugar Bowl against FLA. He certailny gets high marks for pocket presence and scanning the field. He was a disaster in last year's bowl appearance; if he does well, he might sneak into the late 2nd. My best guess is that he goes somewhere in the latter 3rd.
  7. Thanks! - I'll look for it. Every now and then, the History Channel (I think) re-broadcasts the Band of Brothers series. A must-see...a very moving story.
  8. Here's a report by the Cincinnati Enquirer consumer reporter, John Matarese: http://www.wcpo.com/content/news/localshow...1FSIR0mhcw.cspx
  9. Do you mean a black powder rifle? I guess you do, and yours is tapped for scope mounts, sans iron sights. I've pretty much used Lymans through the years - but the choices are endless. I'd follow the advice of a gunsmith - drilling and tapping a barrel in the vicinity of the chamber is a critical task. I've come across some clip-on devices for shotguns here and there.
  10. Yes - you make a good point here. My only coffee story: At a place I worked at, I was almost always the 1st one in. So I'd fire up the pot, and made it on the weak side, because I knew that it would sit for a fair while and concentrate. A couple of my workers bitc*ed about it - so I simply informed them, that they could solve their problem by beating me into work. They never did...
  11. Nuts!, as the good Gen. McAullife said... http://www.csamerican.com/Doc.asp?doc=mcauliffe
  12. http://news.cincinnati.com/article/2009121...+named+UC+coach I feel a bit for the players - loyalty in sports counts, and I imagine that some are feeling like they're riding on a yo-yo. Welcome to the adult world, I guess..
  13. What a great send-up flick that was! Galaxy Quest, too.
  14. You're welcome. I'm not smart about such, but to me, he has one of those voices that covers several octaves, and could carry a note forever...he goes from a baritone to a soprano in an instant. Amazing.
  15. Any one of the Ella Fitzgerald songbooks - Harold Arlen, Cole Porter, etc. Mozart's No. 25 and No. 29, performed by the Academy of Ancient Music. A most powerful presentation - it will shake your teeth and fling your hair backward. There is nothing else in the musical world that can compare to a symphony orchestra thundering in full voice... Shawn Phillips' Second Contribution album. What a remarkable vocal range... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shawn_Phillips
  16. Here's one you might like, DrD.
  17. Yes - lifting a leg on some item a good soul gave you as a gift is poor. One may use it or not. Either way, all one should do is thank the giver. I'm reminded of a post several years ago - the poster was invited to Thanksgiving at his brothers' house, who recently married. He was livid because evidently the woman was not the best of cooks, and purchased one of those dinners that the grocery stores offer. Good for her - she wanted the guests to have a good meal. He felt he was being cheated. He was invited, accepted the invitation to share the holiday at his brothers' home, yet went on railing on about how he was about to be robbed of a home-cooked meal and how that was his due, about why he should travel for such a disappointment... Go figure. Of course, he had umbrage aplenty flung upon him from other posters. In a perfect world, his brother or his wife was a TSW member, and slammed the door in his petulant face when he showed up...

  19. I don't think that Center is an easy position to fill. A good one, making the line calls, and dealing with the various defensive fronts, is a gem IMO. If somehow, I were given a new franchise, my priorities would be Punter Kicker Center MLB Then everybody else.
  20. All kids must be praised and petted. That's the law.
  21. I like Shredded Wheat. The full-sized ones, not the mini ones.
  22. Nice of you to get them phones - you are a good son. They did well with the pre-paid choice. If you aren't using a cell phone as your main phone, that's the way to go. Wife 'n me have had T-Mobile pre-paid for several years - she uses up some minutes because she travels, and we both get bonus minutes after we spent $100 in card purchases. Our available minutes roll over with the purchase of a $10 card once per year. They sell us cheap phones, too. Last year, we got new phones (mostly because of the extended batt. life the newer phones offer). I paid $20 for my Nokia bare-bones job, and wife has a decent flip Motorola for 30 bucks, with Bluetooth. Our recent purchased vehicle has one of those Bluetooth things, so when she needs to call on the road - very seldom thankfully - she can do so hands-free. BTW folks - the cell phone people take old phones, which they check out and pass'em over to folks in need of emergency communications. If you have an old piece, bring it in please. Same with Rx eyeglasses - Lens Crafters etc. does same.
  23. Buff State had an on-campus bar in their student union building in the '70's, next to their bowling alleys. It was cleverly named "The Pub."
