  1. Thad Brown. Long time Josh Allen doubter.
  2. Wilmington NC. Housing still affordable. Nice little city. Great downtown. Some of the best beaches 20 minutes away.
  3. That's exciting news. Mo Linguist's rep is in recruiting. I hope they both stick around a while, but I suspect Mo's recent extension was to boost his buyout number, hence Mark Allnut expects him to be moving on soon. As long as he gives us a winner of I'm resigned to "the mid major cycle."
  4. I was about to ask if anyone was watching TBT on ESPN. Blue Collar U. plays in the finals Tuesday at 8pm. (Also on ESPN.) I love basketball but can't stand the NBA. I like college ball and I'm loving TBT. I think it's a great idea for colleges to have alum teams that keep playing. Blue Collar U is mostly guys from the Nate Oats, nationally ranked Bulls teams. It's a blast seeing them play together again. And they are playing the style that Nate Oats coached them to. Quick FYI, the 2023 TBT will feature Buffalo as one of the 8 regional sites. (No word yet in what arena they are playing.) I'm definitely coming in to watch it.
  5. I've looked into taking the train from Massachusetts to Buffalo, but the train merge in Albany adds too much time to the trip. But I do have a day trip to NYC set for October from Boston for the AES/NAB Convention. Leave in the morning and ride back by midnight.
  6. Apparently the XFL is going to train at one location: Arlington TX. But will fly both teams out to whatever city they are scheduled to play in.
  7. Gotta save those tax dollars for stadium projects downstate. That's the trope. "Worst deal this century." Of course this century is only 22 years old. While the dollars are a record amount, the proportion paid by taxpayers is not. Both Mets and Yankees stations got a larger proportion of tax money for their stadiums. But that's okay, right?
  8. Anyone has Terry's number? I'm gonna need his advise after I win the Mega Millions tonight.
  9. A very good article on the chances of the XFL and USFL co-existing or merging eventually. Lots of good quotes from people who know what it takes to survive. Sorry, it's the Athletic so it's behind a paywall. https://theathletic.com/3458610/2022/07/29/usfl-xfl-merger-football/ FYI: The story says 22 USFL players are signed to NFL rosters. 3 more signed today.
  10. "The estimated cash option will come out to $602.5 million, and the prize would be subject to an initial 24% federal tax withholding, or roughly $144.6 million." That leaves you with $457.9MM assuming no state income taxes where you live. Hardly seems worth it. 🤔 I always thought if I won a lottery jackpot I'd take the 30 years of payments. That way if I blow it all one year, there's more coming.
  11. And it's not enough to buy an NFL franchise. NHL maybe.
  12. Because last year was last year. A year where a new coach had 100 days to recruit and assemble a staff, done at a time when when every other team was done hiring. Did we all forget about Lance leaving for Kansas late? If anything this tells me AD Mark Allnut is expecting big things from Mo Linguist. He's not going be a coach that sticks around for 5+ years. This extension is probably more about increasing his buyout number. Linguist could well be gone after this year, off to a larger conference. His forte is recruiting and this is the year where recruiting is winning. The MAC got slammed hard by the transfer portal. Every program was flipped upside down. No one knows what anyone's got. But the team that recruits best has the best chance. So here's looking forward to a successful Bulls season.
  13. Because they are playing in a local soccer stadium.
  14. What does Tampa do if Julio or Tom break a hip?
  15. Are we so sure of that? This should work out well.
  16. MAC schools, and really every school not in a super conference, has to scout to win, every season. Anyone good will be gone so you have to stock the pipeline endlessly. Plus there will be players who are stuck behind starters at super conference teams that want to be the guy, and can be if they drop down. After all the point is going pro, not winning at college.
  17. Current list of USFL players signed to NFL teams: https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/nfl-signings-from-usfl-tracker-jaguars-ink-kyle-sloter-cardinals-add-title-game-mvp/
  18. Keep in mind ESPN is bankrolling them. Then again playing in their host cities will add to their cost. They will start the week after Super Bowl. The USFL starts in April so just a slight overlap.
  19. 5 return from 2020: Dallas/Arlington, Houston, Washington DC, St. Louis and Seattle. 3 moved: Tampa to Orlando, NY/NJ to San Antonio and LA to Las Vegas. Lots of known names coaching. https://www.xfl.com/teams
  20. We aren't doing anything the national media isn't doing. We are the favorites. You still have to win it.
  21. I'll bet it increases his buyout. If Mo has a good year he could be gone.
