Florio: NFL considering XFL kickoff rules
PromoTheRobot replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall
I wouldn't do that. Officiating is all split second decisions. How would it affect you knowing you'd have to answer reporters questions on almost any call? But I did like how the XFL miked the refs and had the replays done on camera. You heard all the conversations. -
FIFA Woman's World Cup...USWNT looking to 3 Peat!

Yes. I said that. How much money does USA Soccer bring in. -

But when it comes to what players get paid, it all comes down to what USA Soccer brings in. And let's be honest. The women's team has been way more successful...until today. -
It's the best source for up-to-date Bills news and sometimes gossip. @YoloinOhiowas the best but everyone chips in posting stuff the second it happens.

No true Bills fan would schedule a funeral on game day...unless it was a watch party too, which actually sounds like a great idea. -

Revenue arguments aren't cut and dry. https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2019/07/08/are-us-womens-soccer-players-really-earning-less-than-men/ The Women's World Cup definitely generates less revenue than the men's cup. But USA Soccer revenues are combined, and you can argue that the Women's team earned more revenue by winning 4 World Cups and 4 Olympic gold medals, than the men who only reached the World Cup quarters once since 1930 and only won a silver medal in the Olympics (in 1904.) As for this year's result, it's pretty obvious the advantage US women had thanks to Title IX has evaporated. The rest of the world takes women's sports just as seriously and have caught up. They can't just show up and win anymore. -

Well they have won titles. Just not this time. -
Oh I stopped reading his essays long ago. But I know he also graces UBfan.com with his wisdom.

You forgot UB.

THANKS for 25 years of the Stadium Wall, TBD!

I'm pretty sure I was here from the start, or at least close. I know I signed up in '98 at what was then called HyperBills (weird name) and was affiliated with the Rochester D&C. -
Are they part of InBev now?

No. They still kick field goals. And you have to kick off. Just no more kicked XPs. -

Don't lose any sleep over that. No forward pass. That's a gimmick. -

a 3pt conversion is from the 10. Oddly it was rarely used this year in the XFL. Frankly I could see the Bills with Allen making hay with a 3pt play. -

Half the rules in the NFL were borrowed from college or other leagues, like the 2pt conversion. We have 1 or 2 points after now. Why does 3 ruin it all? -

Another interesting rule difference in the XFL is extra points. No more kicking for one. You have to score a TD from 2 yards out for 1 point, 5 yards for 2, or from 10 yards for 3. -

Best part is no touchbacks or fair catches. Like open access to video replay and officials conversations. In the XFL the onside kick is replaced by converting a 4th and 15 from your own 25. See above. -
It's better than the automatic 25-yard line stuff now. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/nfl-considers-alternatives-to-the-kickoff-including-the-xfl-model

Apparently things are a little chippy at Pats camp. https://www.unionleader.com/sports/patriots/with-injuries-mounting-belichick-lays-down-the-law-with-patriots/article_47309289-a72b-5061-9d9c-c00903450772.html -

Maybe after the 5th or 6th Super Bowl win Bill had more say, especially when Adams and Pioli left. Belichick convinced Kraft that he didn't need a GM, or even an offensive coordinator. Compare the Pioli drafts to the ones Belichick ran. Brady covered up a lot of warts.
