  1. When I look at a guy like Cam Newton, all I'm thinking about is what an immense talent the guy is and how I wish he was a Buffalo Bill. I'm not thinking about his skin color. It's not even remotely in the realm of any thoughts I might have about the player or the man -- I just see an extremely talented guy. Not until, that is, a guy like Sullivan comes along and asks a bone-headed question like that. In my experience, the person who first interjects color/race into any conversation ... well, that person *is* the racist. He's probably a democrat.
  2. y, I hated when he left Buffalo, too. Wanted to see him stay at least one more season as OC, but can't blame him for accepting an HC position. RIP.
  3. If the choice is ONLY EJ vs. Tebow, I'd take Tebow. That said, I think we can do better for a backup QB over both of these guys. However, if I'm allowed to pick only one of the above, I go with Tebow. At least Tebow has one playoff win on his resume - that's something.
  4. Yeah, I'd let the architect of 4 Super Bowl teams back in the building - my God - why not?!!! Nothing against Whaley - I think the guy has done a decent (not great, but very decent) job of bringing in talent and would like to have him around, but no way I wouldn't let Polian in. If that offends anyone on the current staff - too damn bad. He's earned whatever role he is given and no one else really can say that.
  5. Great quote. Hey, hope Rex wasn't holding back this season so as to not make his brother look bad - kidding, of course. I do hope Rex gets more aggressive with this defense in the weeks leading up to what is hoped to be the Bills' first playoff appearance in a very, very long time!!! They can do this if they lock-in on every opponent the way they did the Texans. Good idea to at least bring in Rob as a temporary consultant to help with valuable input on the upcoming three opponents. Go Bills!
  6. To be fair, should have a matching thread - top 50 victories - been some great "ups" with this team, too! Team needs some discipline and they can turn this thing around, but it is up to everyone to hold themselves accountable.
  7. Pre-season is the time to beta test new equipment. If this is true, this is still inexcusable. Was this equipment being forced on the Bills? Did they agree to this w/o trying it out before the game? This is still on the Bills' organization to allow this to happen.
  8. What a dumb organization to allow something like weak batteries in the headsets to impact the game. I don't care who did or did not travel to England. There's a checklist to be followed before each-and-every game and clearly it wasn't followed - end of story. What an absolutely stunning level of incompetence. Whoever was responsible for that needs to be fired - immediately. Can you imagine this happening to the Patriots?
  9. I had a bad feeling as soon as he brought over half his NYJ staff. Rex comes in with a completely clean slate. He can hire ANYONE on the globe to fill each of the vacant assistant coaching positions. He has a rare opportunity to show some due diligence and interview all of the best candidates for each open position and build a staff that truly represents the best-of-the-best that is available, yet remarkably, he drags over at least half of his NYJ staff and tells us these guys are the best of the best available. BS. And then there's the pride factor. He has to push Schwartz out the door when he could have retained him and allowed him to run his own defense - the one that was so successful last season, instead of Rex forcing his own defensive scheme and coaches. Rex could have just focused on being a HC and allowed BOTH of his coordinators to run the show on their respective sides of the ball instead of only allowing his OC to run the show while letting his ego take over and insist his defense could somehow improve on last season. What a buffoon this guy is turning out to be. And we are stuck with him for 5 seasons.
  10. I'm not totally missing your point. I'm just saying Rex is one of these guys who takes loyalty to the extreme in that he probably won't even consider replacing his DC. Just listening to Thurman speak, he doesn't come across as a very bright guy, so I can't really see Thurman doing a better job on his own w/o Rex. And he probably is just a puppet, so this may all be on Rex as you say. Either way, I hope something changes for the better one way or another.
  11. Loyalty is a wonderful thing - until it isn't. It seems highly unlikely Rex replaces Thurman even though it is becoming more-and-more clear to observers that Thurman is a problem and doesn't appear qualified to be DC. I'm also not impressed with these quotes from Rex: Regarding mounting injuries ... "I think it's affecting everybody's morale, mine included" - so, Rex is going to use the injuries as an excuse instead of the senselss penalties and poor play calling on both sides of the ball - nice. Regarding losing a game TWO WEEKS prior ... "I’m not all the way over the Brady butt-kicking he did against us." - said the week leading up to NYG game - another loss. Both of these quotes demonstrate low emotional IQ - which at least in part explains why he has not been able to reign-in the selfish and stupid penalties - the players' behavior pretty much reflects what Ryan is putting out.
  12. yeah, I think you're right - he maybe took a subtle shot at QB play last year, but don't recall it being an issue or anything - maybe just after a particularly frustrating outing. Overall, I think he's handled himself well. Hope you are wrong about the ability vs. trust thing - time will tell I suppose.
  13. I see Chris Brown finally has a Tim Horton's cup in front of him, too -- before today, you'd have to call it "Coach with a Coffee" instead of "Coffee with the Coach". And are the coffee cups empty - just props? Shouldn't they be sipping hot Tim Horton's coffee during the segment?
  14. When has Watkins EVER been an idiot in front of the mic? I've watched all the interviews on BuffaloBills.com for past couple years. He's been nothing but professional and respectful. He never gives you much - just cliches, but an idiot in front of the mic? Have no idea what you mean. And, as for what recently happened, Sammy is correct. All he wants is his QB to trust him more in 1-on-1 match-ups because Sammy is going to win those battles most of the time, but the QB is not even looking his way many times. I have no problem with Sammy whatsoever either in the past or present.
  15. I'd like to see McCoy sit this one out if trainers don't say he's 100%. We'll need him healthy for mid and late season and for what could be a long playoff run, hopefully. This is a very, very talented team - the kind of team that can allow a guy to recover more fully from an injury - even if he is your showcase back. We've got backs who can step in and handle the workload and are only too eager to show why they are on the roster. And we have an OC who's smart enough to build a gameplan around whatever guys line up any given Sunday.
  16. Well, at least one of these 2 teams can start to improve on their respective 0-4 SB recrods if this comes to pass.
  17. Yeah, these out-of-towners just don't realize what a great squad Marv Levy has this year.
  18. Well, Tom Brady won't be playing forever, but the real master mind behind the cheating - Ernie Adams - probably not going away anytime soon.
  19. Fixed
  20. As per BuffaloBills.com, here is list of practice squad eligible players: LB Michael Buchanan G William Campbell CB Ross Cockrell CB Ronald Darby WR Andre Davis DE IK Enemkpali C Dalton Freeman LB Jimmy Gaines K Jordan Gay WR Marquise Goodwin TE Chris Gragg TE MarQueis Gray DT Justin Hamilton OT Seantrel Henderson RB Bronson Hill WR Chris Hogan LB Andrew Hudson LB Randell Johnson OT Terren Jones OT Cyrus Kouandjio OL Alex Kupper S Kenny Ladler DE BJ Larsen WR Dezmin Lewis TE Chris Manhertz QB EJ Manuel S Jonathan Meeks G John Miller S Wes Miller G D.J. Morrell CB Merrill Noel TE Nick O’Leary WR Tobais Palmer S Bacarri Rambo LB Kevin Reddick DE Cedric Reed G Cyril Richardson CB Nickell Robey RB Ricky Seale QB Matt Simms LB Tony Steward CB Rod Sweeting LB AJ Tarpley WR Deonte Thompson DT Jeremy Towns RB Karlos Williams S Duke Williams
  21. Not even a little bit concerned. He's a rookie CB - he going to get burned throughout the season, so get used to it. QBs will pick on him all season until he plays well enough to make QBs think otherwise. But he's smart and has the physical tangibles and will improve. So long as the overall defensive effort is there and with some production out of the offense, hopefully Darby won't be the difference maker in a negative way in more than a game or two.
  22. That's the point I hope everyone understands. No one knows these guys better than the coaches do. Whichever QB is chosen to start week #1, I have 100% confidence in the decision the coaches arrvie at. It's great to know we have 3 capable starters if a guy goes down.
  23. Let's see - great route runner, always gets open, has magnets for hands, fierce competitor - yeah, he's not the kind of guy we want to keep around
  24. Easley gets in on special teams, alone. Even if he is a capable WR, too, don't see Hogan going anywhere - he'll be on the roster.
