He hasn't asked to be paid like Barkley. He asked high because that is normal for any negotiations. Also we have no idea what his agent actually asked for. That is important to keep in mind. We also have no idea what Shakir would have asked for had he not been resigned. Shakir has accounted for 9 touchdowns in his career about a third of Cook's. Cook deserves more money than shakir because he is a better player and produces more. He is better than Williams whether or not he plays all 3 downs also. He is a unique playmaker and is a perfect fit with this team. IMO, he should have been paid before Shakir and then they could have gone to Shakir with his deal. Giving Cook 3 or 4 years at 12 or 13 million is not going to stop the team from doing business with the guys they want to keep going forward.

So it should be clear we won’t get there rushing 4
MikePJ76 replied to dayman's topic in The Stadium Wall
I agree on the ball coming out quick but at the same time the giants got home repeatedly yesterday rushing four. Those first two drives trubisky was under pressure each play. lots of teams get home rushing four. You have to have the talent to do It however. -
Good Night / Bad Night - Pre-season game 1
MikePJ76 replied to GunnerBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
While I agree, there should be some level of concern in regards to the defensive line. The giants threw the ball 51 times and the bills only got close a few times. the giants were without their left tackle and wr#1. The ball came out quick and Buffalo was without Bernard, rapp and bishop but still. scheme or not, generally when a team plays its starters on the defensive line in a home preseason game vs other teams backups they get home a few times. It’s just part of the sloppy play of preseason. mine of yesterday means anything and they will scheme lineman into favorable matchups and get sacks but it has to be a little concerning that no one could beat the guy In front of them and get home over 51 pass attempts. -

I literally said I know what bosa is. We all do. and I also said hopefully walker, sanders, Hancock and strong continue to improve so they can help. I liked seeing Hancock today. He looked like he belonged and seemed in position over and over. Walker is going to have a big role in pass rush situations. They are going to scheme his abilities into some big plays. Sanders looks like he belonged every snap. preseason is about man to to man or one on one football, going out there and beating the guy in front of you without a plan other than being a better athlete. My hope for the day was that a number of these guys would look like they belong. IMO some did and some didn’t. I think ogunjobi, hoecht and Forrest were bad signings and they looked pretty pedestrian on the field today. When the real games start and they are given a role or if they are I am sure they will scheme them into what they do best. Today, I didn’t see any of those guys do anything that showed they have the ability to make plays that will help the team and demand they get snaps. The rookies I mentioned imo did, they look like guys who will help. and as far as bosa goes I believe he is a declining player with major injury concerns who commits a lot of penalties. I don’t expect much from him. I don’t like the free agent class on defense and have not from day one. I hope I am wrong because if I am not this team is going to end up around 11-6 and the 3 or 4 seed meaning they have to go to KC and Baltimore each just to get to the Super Bowl. -
Around the NFL Pre-Season week 1 edition.

I am watching Dallas and the rams. Dallas is playing all backups for some reason and they looked awful. They might have the worst group of corners in the league. all their penciled in starters are hurt. i wanted to see Donovan ezeiraku and he looked pretty helpless against the run. -

I am not a fan as I have stated many times of the defensive free agent class. I am of the opinion that it was really bad and Beane blew it. Today didn’t make me feel any different. Ogunjobi, hoecht, Forrest all looked pretty pedestrian at best. I don’t care how bosa played today because I know who he is as a player. If they missed on Jackson and Hairston is on ir to start the season this defense is going to cost this team a bunch of games. That is just to many misses in one offseason on the defensive side of the ball when they are in desperate need for difference makers. Hopefully sanders, walker, Hancock and strong can help and improve each week. -
Preseason Week 1 Giants at Bills - Game thread

Every teams broadcast does this for every preseason game. these games are pointless in this era and the teams use them as marketing opportunities to sell more stuff to fans and keep things light hearted. -

MikePJ76 replied to boyst's topic in The Stadium Wall
Big day for all the players waiting for smelling pepper. it will give you a jolt and the only side effect is sneezing. -

Jerry currently has two players who want out so they say in diggs and parsons. Jerry laughed at them the other day when he talked to the media. He had some crazy quote about momma and daddy. jerry loves this, the cowboys are being talked about and that is the end game to all things Jerry.
-
Wasn’t it Brett Favre who just knew the basics of holmgrens offense for years and would just sandlot most plays? this kind of thing happens a lot I bet and on both sides of the ball.
-
You guys don’t actually think parsons is getting traded do you? This is just typical cowboys nonsense. parsons need for attention is almost as big as Jerry jones need. if he was truly serious about wanting out he wouldn’t be at practice everyday but he isn’t doing that because he will get fined and he really doesn’t want out. this is all bluster for attention. Monday morning every backwards hat YouTube bro and talking heads at each network will spend all day talking about this and picking a side insisting one is right over the other. the week the cowboys play the eagles to kick off the season parsons will sign and be the highest paid non qb. Him and Jerry will be on tv together laughing at everyone just like Zeke and Jerry, Dez and Jerry, Dak and Jerry etc. these attention whores are exhausting.
-
I assume you mean awesome because that is what R.E.M. and Michael Stipe are.
-
God the cowboys are so desperate for attention. The Jones family must be loving this. I wish they could go 0-17. It would be so much fun.

Well I have already had enough of tirico and collinsworth. The harbaugh buttkissing is an extra level of cringe.

The Yankees had an outstanding day. They are now deep and talented in the bullpen, Gil returns Sunday and they have a useful bench where guys are versatile and will help them win close games late, particularly extra innings with the Manfred Man. I am bummed to see Oswald peraza go but he is better off somewhere else. I hope someone gives him a chance to play shortstop everyday, he is not a utility guy he needs to play short everyday and get a full season of at bats. the rest of the season is going to be awesome. Close division races between rivals and really close wild card chases.

He is a wr so give up 5 number ones and give him a lifetime contract at 25 million a year.

They are not moving on from Boone and Cashman. Injuries to the pitching staff and various injuries to position players has hurt them. Losing Cabrera has really caused problems. with that said Leiter and Cruz are returning shortly, de Los santos has been excellent in his return and Yarborough should be back in a few weeks (hopefully). Luis Gil is pitching Sunday in Miami and if schlittler doesn’t get moved today he is going to become a bullpen arm. His stuff is perfect for the role brubaker has been playing. the biggest news of the day is that the A’s have made Mason Miller available. Sounds like the Padres are the early favorites for him. He is good enough to swing a division and maybe a conference for someone. today is probably the final day for peraza and escarra as members of the Yankees. Possibly stroman also

Where does this mindset come from? pretty much everyone one of these guys are graduates of major universities. a lot of guys who don’t make the nfl go to grad school or get professional jobs.
