Sean McDermott is on with Sal and here is what he has to say about injuries. Codrington is questionable with the hamstring. Ingram is back with the team after having a new baby. everyone else is good.
-
he also said an extra flight has been added to buffalo from denver for the broncos fans coming to the game. dear season ticket holders please stop selling your tickets!!! If you are a season ticket holder and sell tickets to a home playoff game well why are you a season ticket holder?

Monday night game moved to Arizona (Rams/Vikings)
MikePJ76 replied to Steptide's topic in The Stadium Wall
how would the bills have more to play for? If you win your division you get a higher seed and if you have the best record of the division winners you get the 1 seed and a bye. So nothing would have been different for buffalo this year. Once they lost to the rams the 1 seed was essentially out. if divisions and the history of the game doesn't make sense to you why stop there, lets make field goals worth more points the farther they are away, inside the 25, 1 pt, inside the 50 3 points over 50 5 points.....whats the difference and this would give teams more incentive to not punt and make games more exciting. maybe interceptions should start being worth 2 points like a safety. I mean who cares about the tradition and history of the league. I am pulling for the rams to win this game and the bucs too for that matter to further enforce how important it is to win your division and get a home game. -
Monday night game moved to Arizona (Rams/Vikings)

Because that is the nfl. It ensures teams play to win the division. if Minnesota is that much better than the rams which everyone is saying here then they should win in a blowout like Dallas did at Tampa in 2022. this is a rule that should never change but I know the new generation of nfl fans care nothing about the history of the league or rivalries and are all about individual players and accomplishments. Again though If the Vikings are this much better they should win in a blowout. -
Howard cross in the stands and the broadcast doesn’t mention him.

Yea if you are just making things up. Winning the division means something and always should. the rams beat the Vikings during the regular season so this idea that the rams are so far behind Minnesota is nonsense. If they didn’t have the injuries they had earlier in the year and tried to win the final week they may have another win or three. -
I think he is going to play some. Not start for Hamlin but I can see him having a role similar to what rapp did last year as the third safety in different packages like their dime.
-
yea and he threw the game away with a terrible interception.

Hard Knocks, Bengals watching the Chiefs/Broncos game
MikePJ76 replied to Just Jack's topic in The Stadium Wall
yea but its not the same as a 7 seed getting an extra day of rest over the 2 seed. It stinks the mnf game winner loses a day of prep though and it is absolutely not fair. But hey, tv ratings. -
was it? Well I just remembered that part wrong. I know the vikings were great at home though for like a year and a half.

Joe Buscaglia @joebuscaglia.bsky.social · 10m Bills PR/KR Brandon Codrington was on the field for a couple of reps. When the team went to positional drills, Codrington was no longer participating. Ja’Marcus Ingram was a DNP, he missed Wednesday due to an excused absence. The rest of the Bills were practicing Thursday.

i imagine Shakir is the fail/safe for when they are returning punts and maybe backed up.
-
I understand the thought process of the OP. Risking specialists in mop up situations or meaningless team situations is usually a no no. The flip side of that is they were not going to play any of their corners that will play in the postseason and Codrington has played corner this year in blowouts before. Ty johnson will return kicks and I imagine they have a plan for punt returns. For instance. If the Bills have denver backed up punting inside their own 20 they will probably have someone returning punts they feel could make the play since the broncos will be in a protect formation and will give the returner time to catch and put his head up and go. if the broncos are punting from midfield ish, I imagine they put someone back there, maybe johnson or shakir with express intent on calling fair catch and just making the catch or standing on the 10 and just letting it go if it is over his head. It stinks codrington won't play sunday but its a manageable situation and especially because they are at home. I think it gives them a unique ability this week to go long at another position on sunday. Maybe linebacker or defensive line.

They had a losing record once in the previous 4 or 5 years. They had a talented roster. Yes the location of the team was an issue and no one was sure if the city could handle an nfl season going into 06. They sure did. They battled injuries the next few seasons before finally having a healthy roster in the superbowl year. They had training camp in Shreveport and it helped them actually. They all credited for creating a bigger team bond. They made the NFC championship in the first year. Not a worse job? Ok then. Have a nice day.

I haven't really viewed it like that. Payton has more experience and has won in the toughest of environments and lost in games he should have won. He has been a part of it all. He is an excellent play caller and when he finds a weakness he is going to hammer it over and over. He has been in a situation exactly like this before. in 2009 the Minnesota Vikings hadn't lost a home game in like 15 games or something and were 9-0 on the season at home. They were like this years ravens. Peterson and Favre seemed unstoppable. The saints went there and won in a ridiculous environment in the old metrodome. it was insanely loud. Favre threw the game away at the end with a terrible INT. Point being. He knows these games and will not flubb a simple decision (more than likely) and knows exactly how to prepare for games like this. This is why he was hired. He knows the pressure is all on Buffalo and if they can get a lead and make it close late the bills might tighten up and the crowd will quiet down and the nervousness turns to anger at the coaches and players. The Bills need to play with a lead and make Payton and the Broncos chase the game. I really hope the Bills come out on defense first and make a statement like the lions game then they will get some nervous energy out and have the ball after the half, hopefully with a lead.
-
Must be nice. I am not wired that way and have watched way too much football in my life to make a statement like no way they are losing this game. Sean Payton is going to find whatever the weakness is in the defense and then attack it over and over and over. This is an extremely tough matchup that will require everyone to be on their p's and q's. Field Position, Playing with a lead and making no mistakes seem like the key to the game.

Hard Knocks, Bengals watching the Chiefs/Broncos game

I would have been insufferable this week had we played the bengals and they got the extra day to prepare. the nfl can never allow this to happen again. -
Well it’s Thursday and I am even more nervous this morning. pass the Rolaids.

Actually he was. He was highly thought of in ny and then fassel scapegoated him. Then fassel bombed without him in 03 and was fired. He was a top candidate heading into the 05 season because of his closeness with Parcells. not sure why you think the saints job was bad. They had a stable front office and a very talented roster. What they needed was a young qb and someone to build an offense for him. Payton wanted Romo and offered a second to Dallas and Parcells said no before the 06 season. They ended up with Bree’s. What no one knew was how much like Parcells Payton was. Fassel portrayed him as a dunce that was holding him back and the reality was the opposite. Fassel was the product of two excellent coordinators. the saints 05 season was derailed by hurricane katrina but they had a talented group. Payton ran one of the toughest camps in the league before they changed the rules and the players loved him for it. New Orleans was absolutely not a bad job. That was a pretty talented roster. Good defensive group, outstanding rb group and a good offensive line plus a good kicker.
-
Joe Brady has been around Sean Payton. Once upon a time Sean Payton was the Ben Johnson/Joe brady of his time. Al Davis basically begged him to take the raiders job after the 04 season. Parcells convinced him it was a losing proposition. Payton returned to Dallas and Parcells named him assistant head coach and let him call plays in 2005. He then got the Saints job after the season. I imagine Brady is well aware of this. A young offensive minded coach going to the jets/saints/raiders right now seems like a situation where in 3 years you will have to prove your abilities again as an offensive coordinator. Those seem like places for veterans who understand the situation or defensive coaches where you can turn around a unit based on scheme alone really quick. Offense is totally different and you will now be in charge of everything plus be expected to maintain your offensive excellence. I feel pretty confident Brady is not going to want any of these current jobs sans new england. I don't think he will be a finalist there though.

Payton was suspended in 2012 and wasn't part of those two games. Does anybody have the pff all pro team list? I know that no bills made it but I haven't seen the full list
-
they will be able to go a little longer at another position if he is inactive sunday. It will be interesting to see where they do that. I wonder if that gets an extra linebacker to the active roster.

Going into the bottom of the fifth inning of game 5 of the world series this year, the yankees were winning big and about to make a series out of it and have all the momentum. Coming out of the break Suzyn Waldman whom I love on the radio said, Welcome to the bottom of the fifth where if you are just tuning in Gerrit Cole has a no hitter. Over the next 30 minutes I watched the worst inning of Yankees baseball I have seen in my life and I have been watching since 83. Don't be a Suzyn Waldman and put the maloik on the injury report. Side note, John Sterling and Suzyn Waldman dont believe in the jinx and always talk like this. They called a no hitter in Oakland in 2023 and talked about it the whole game. knock on wood there is a reason for an injury report to worry about next week

Pet Peeve. Defenses get Takeaways, Offenses commit turnovers. This is like when people say points in baseball.

Interesting to me. the final three games the bills came out and run halfback tosses to the left and right. I don’t think they ran a single one the whole year before the pats game. i wonder if that’s something they did to get on film to maybe set something up in the playoffs.
