  1. I think there’s still room for Allen to improve. One of which is turnovers this past season. Take the playoff game against Mia. Bills jumped out to an early lead and should’ve cruised to a runaway victory. Then Allen got careless with the ball and started turning it over. People keep saying Skylar Thompson almost beat the Bills. But that was only possible because of all Allen’s poor decisions. That was not on coaching. Then that led to the game against Cincy where Allen was so tentative he didn’t seem like himself at all. He didn’t want to turn over the ball and that took away all his usual playmaking ability. Great players like Allen should step up on the biggest of stages. He has done that but not consistently. So I think there is still room for maturity and reflection on past performances. If you think this is the best Allen can be then the Bills really are in trouble.
  2. Coaching absolutely has an impact on those situations. Especially since they were playoff games. To me McDermott coaches too tight in the playoffs. Especially in crunch time and trying to close out games. He coaches not to lose so to speak. This has to permeate to the players. So they play tight trying to not make mistakes which inevitably will lead to mistakes. Since he’ll be the head coach for the foreseeable future I can only hope that he learns from past failures to succeed going forward. Obviously players also have tremendous impact on outcome of games. Especially the QB. As Allen matures he’ll have a reservoir past experiences to draw from that will help him. Tough situations that he could hopefully overcome where his previous versions couldn’t.
  3. If this happens it would be a first in NFL history. Truly unprecedented stuff. A coach has never won a superbowl outside of 5 years with the same qb. Last year was their fifth year together.
  4. Yes absolutely! We’re all in agreement with McDermott blowing 13sec. Allen absolutely did do enough to beat Mahomes in that game and it was heartbreaking to see how that turned out. But that’s 1 out of 3 games against the other top two qbs in the conference. He wasn’t great in the 1st playoff game against Mahomes and was completely terrible against Burrow this past season. He has to be better the next time. I think he’s the #2 guy behind Mahomes. Allen is more talented than Burrow imo.
  5. Not too many Bills fans would be on board with this. Most think Allen is an unmatched generational talent. So it’s easier to blame the coaching staff. Allen is an elite qb that is capable of winning it all. But he has to improve on some things to reach that goal regardless of who the coaching staff is. This upcoming season is a big test. He’s ‘focused’ solely on football now so let’s see where this goes.
  6. Do you have any examples of this or is this myth your opinion? Of course any great receivers will be great (meaning getting open) regardless of who’s throwing the ball. But the better the qb the more balls those receivers will get. It’s useless to get open but the qb can’t get you the ball. Look at Hill during the Smith years with KC. Diggs and Davis is a dynamic combo. It’s up to Allen (and Dorsey) to unlock that. There has been flashes but nothing consistent. Hoping for more consistency this coming season.
  7. This same argument was made when Mahomes lost Hill. We all know what happened. Kelce was a great player before Mahomes. With Mahomes he’s first ballot HOF material. Hate to admit it since the Chiefs are the biggest obstacle to the Bills reaching their goal but Mahomes is just that good. After Kelce retires there will be other guys that Mahomes (along with Reid’s offense) will elevate. Other team fans will say if Mahomes doesn’t have so and so he won’t be as productive. All the while missing the point that Mahomes is the reason his receivers are productive. Here’s hoping that Allen can get to that level. Disagree with Voltz that he’s there already. Doesn’t mean he can’t get there eventually.
  8. Absolutely! Evidenced by all the superbowls Reid has before Mahomes…oh wait.
  9. There was no guarantee that they could’ve beat Cincy if they survived 13 seconds. Unstoppable teams usually don’t lose. They were good that year but, just like every year under this regime, not good enough. Until proven otherwise this coaching staff and even this qb will be questioned.
  10. Maybe fans’ expectations are too high for this team. The owners seem to be fine with a perennial playoff team that sells seats and gets primetime games.
  11. This has been my take. A lot of people on here keep dogging on Davis as not being a “legitimate” #2. I argue that he’s fine. Coupled with Diggs that’s a great tandem. If Allen is who we think he is then that’s a dynamic duo. If they continue to fail and fans keep clamoring for more and more weapons then Allen isn’t as elite as most think he is. Having said all that taking Diggs away would crippling for the offense. He’s a true #1.
  12. These are fighting words around here. Haha. Get Allen two bonafide stud wideouts like Burrow has and he’ll have his best season.
  13. I’m not sure what you’re disagreeing to. If you’re disputing the number of the mafia falling for last year’s hype train it might just be your group of friends. Most definitely were on board with the hype last season.
  14. Most, if not all, Bills fans wore the ‘favorite to win the SB’ media tag last season like it was a Lombardi Trophy. Gotta take the good with the bad. It’s not like sports media knows anymore than the average fan.
  15. Despite upgrades to other AFC teams I still think Chiefs Bengals Bills are the cream of the crop. 1 if not 2 will end up in the AFCCG. Chiefs Bills AFCCG let’s go!
  16. This is what makes the #1 seed so critical. You’d likely see one of these teams as the #1 seed not both. During the 13 sec season Chiefs had the #2 seed. Even as good as the Chiefs were that year they couldn’t survived back to back Bills-Bengals combo. Then it happened again this year. Only it was the Bengals turn. Bills haven’t even beaten 1 team much less 2. #1 seed would set up to avoid a lot of these problems.
  17. The next step is securing the #1 spot. This will give them the best chance to the AFCCG and SB. I don’t believe this team can win 3 consecutive playoff games to get to the SB. So anything short of getting the #1 seed will all but likely seal the deal for another early exit.
  18. Why do some Bills fans get so defensive over any slight (real or perceived) when it comes to Allen? Can’t wait for the Bills to finally win a Lombardi so maybe all this sensitivity towards any criticisms of Allen can go away. Not holding my breath though.
  19. When team goals aren’t met it’s easier for fans to blame the OC than the all-world qb.
  20. Well that’s it. They’re done. Probably won’t make the playoffs.
  21. I didn’t say it’s right. Just suggesting that could be his thought process.
  22. Maybe he’s thinking what’s the point? Next season will probably end as previous seasons. Might as well continue his off time.
  23. I know the feeling. Allen will get his in due time.
  24. Disagree. Clearly Mahomes is on top. Allen and Burrow a tier below. I think Allen is better but would understand if someone thinks Burrow is better. Herbert? C’mon. Hurts needs to show more imo.
