I almost have to admire the Daily Kos crowd. They managed to take screen grabs that make it look like a full-fledged assault. And then you watch the video and it looks like a whole bunch of nothing. Good grief. He's still going to be President for 2.5 more years. Stop complaining about buttered rolls and imagined gropes and just come to terms with it.

Actually, Larry Quinn confirmed the logo in that front page Buffalo News article a few weeks ago. The old logo is on the alternate jersey (which is just a re-colored version of the Sabres original blue uniform). I predict that we have 2 years of the Banana Slug before we switch the crest on all the uniforms to the original. This will be our Gorton's Fisherman logo, similar to the Islanders.

Israel ready to Re-Enter Gaza Strip
SilverNRed replied to UConn James's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I'd read something similar yesterday. Also that they'd need at least another week to complete their mission against Hezbollah. Kind of reminds me of the Yom Kippur War - "Don't call for a cease fire until we get what we want." I still marvel at the fact that I find out about this stuff from the PPP section of TSW. "Hey didja hear the news about Israel? Oh man, it was all over the Bills message board..." -
I'll take the pity sex. I'm not doing anything tonight. Back on topic, Ed hates Americans and is gay.

There's no connection between global warming and hurricanes. There is, however, a connection between the Sabres new logo and tornadoes. Are we to believe that it was a coincidence that a tornado hit Cheektowaga the same day the Buffalo News put that abomination on their front page? I don't think the Banana Slug is worth getting hit with a tornado every other day. Then again, if it helps us win the Cup.......

By my count, he cussed once. I love how super-sensitive everyone is to the word sh-- all of a sudden. And if that wasn't bad enough, he ate a buttered roll. Goodness!!! Once again, hatred of George W. Bush drifts into unintentional self-parody.

Plame to sue- cheney-rove and scooter
SilverNRed replied to cromagnum's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I'm mainly talking about Joe Wilson who you yourself just stated is a "slimeball." He did not say they were forgeries 8 months before it was determined they were forgeries, he stated he knew they were forgeries 8 months before we even had the documents. He's a liar. He crafted this entire fable about how he worked to discredit the case that Iraq sought uranium and that he's now a martyr because people conspired to expose his wife's job (which "destroyed" their lives by making them celebrities and landing them million dollar book deals). He gets a little more important in the story every time he tells the story. The case for Iraq seeking uranium is NOT all about Joe Wilson; he's basically a nobody. GG's factcheck.org link is a pretty good summary of that situation. And he correctly points out that the "16 words" were not nearly as important in the case for the war as some people now (Joe Wilson, notably, among them) would like us to believe. -
Schoop acts like he's doing people a favor by taking their calls. I liked him when I first heard him years ago but he sounds completely pompous when he talks about anything these days and that doesn't make for good radio.

Is there any point in even buying Madden this year. So far it sounds like the only thing they added was that you can control your lead blocker when you run. Which probably means: -player progression is still screwed up. -create a team is still half-assed. -they haven't done anything creative with franchise mode like allow for realignment or seasons of different lengths.

Washington Post: Link Joe Wilson could be a hero if he wasn't a fraud and a liar. -
I bet it's always hot where LanaK is at. Holla!

They start off like a couple of rappers. "Yo, Tony!" "What up?" "You ready to kick this straight G8?" "Hellllllllllllllllllll yeah." "G-Dub and T-Blair about to wreck this motherfu----" (dope rhymes ensue)

Are you listening? Joe !@#$ing Wilson filed a report that supported the WMD claims! Then he wrote an editorial in the NYT that talks about how other people inflated those same claims. I guess we could blame the Bush administration for actually believing the CIA, which failed us. Again. -

The person most responsible for Valerie Plame being outed is still Valerie Plame. If you're "covert" you don't use your job to get your husband a trip to Africa on behalf of the CIA so that he can later misrepresent his own findings in the New. York. Times. Did Joe Wilson really think no one was going to look into how he got the Africa gig while he was getting face time on the news shows for his editorial?? These two are a joke and the Senate Intelligence Committee report spelled that out. Plame got Wilson the job (though she tried to claim she had nothing to do with it) and Wilson's editorial contridicted his own CIA report. Thank goodness we have such stand-up people working on our national security. -
"I hear those things are awfully loud." "It glides as softly as a cloud!" "Is there a chance the track could bend?" "Not on your life, my Hindu friend!" MONORAIL! MONORAIL! MONORAIL!

The Assassination of the Character of Jack Murtha
SilverNRed replied to Mickey's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
The "smear campaign" to apologize for misquoting or mischaracterizing him? Yeah....damn them..... -
I loved the whole first episode. There are only two more. They're showing all the skits that were recorded before Dave Chappelle quit. Charlie Murphy and one of the other regulars are hosting.

July Movies: Pirates 2, Lady in the Water, &...
SilverNRed replied to Mark Vader's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Supposedly he wasn't wearing anything on his face when they filmed and they added all the octopus stuff in post-production. The creature designs for the movie look incredible. And whoever came up with having a pirate with an octopus head with octopus arms for a beard (and hair?) is a genius. Very few things in movies these days are really that interesting to look at since it feels like we've seen just about everything by now, but the Davey Jones design would cause me to buy a ticket even if the reviews were all completely awful. It sucks that there wasn't much of a smooth transition from the first movie to this one. I heard someone comment that Johnny Depp isn't playing Jack Sparrow this time as much as he's playing a guy playing Jack Sparrow. I'm still planning on checking it out. -
I was actually wondering the same thing. They've worn those throwbacks a lot lately. And they are awesome. Maybe there's one Buffalo team that can successfully go back to their old, better uniforms without screwing everything up.

The reality is the Palestinians are the ones who raise their children to aspire to murder people by the dozen by bombing buses. The reality is the Palestinians are the ones who elected Hamas and can't figure out why peace is not at hand. The reality is the Palestinians are the ones with an impotent bloodlust that guides all their (idiotic) decisions. Are they capable of "loving" anyone? I suppose they love their kids, but they "love" them more if they become martyrs. All the spin in the world can't make me feel sorry for these people. -
Did that actually happen? The chances of getting HIV for an elderly heterosexual woman who doesn't use needle drugs or have sex with prostitutes are basically zero. I'm pretty sure I remember all of the Saved by the Bell "message" episodes though. And the episode of Family Matters where Urkel and the gang learn some hard hitting lessons about racism.

Yes, you need say more. Because everyone knows the "Superman rules" when they go see these movies. Faster than a speeding bullet, more powerful than a locomotive. He can fly. He has heat vision and ice breath. His weakness is kryptonite. Everyone knows this, so write a damn script that actually makes sense given the world of Superman. Don't suddenly add in Superman being able to reverse time, Superman having cellophane S's to throw, and Superman being able to lift entire islands into outer space. The equivalent would be Batman suddenly having the power to actually turn into a bat towards the end of Batman Begins. Don't write a movie where you have to invent some new information about your main character in the final act to have a happy ending. That's just careless.
-
Yeah, that sucked too. If he can do that, it basically removes any chance of anything ever going wrong ever because Superman can reverse time and fix everything. Can they just once make a Superman movie that makes sense from start to finish? Every Superman movie has at least one inevitable moment when you're like "What? When did he get the ability to do that?" Superman II had that weird part where he pulled the "S" logo off his chest and used it to wrap that one guy with General Zod in Saran wrap. Came completely out of nowhere.
-
I was pretty sure that the bottom part of what he was lifting was NOT part of the island and that the island only eventually grew through it as he was finally getting closer to space (hence the shards of kryptonite growing in front of him). I liked the movie. The first half was much better than the second half. They made Superman WAY too powerful though. Lifting an island??
