  1. I've never seen anyone round up from 6 to 8. Technically, Bush isn't even halfway through his second term. Where did we go "from prosperity"? Are we all poor now? In the last 6 (or, um, 8?) years, on the list of wealthy nations in the world, we dropped from no.1 all the way down to no.1. OK, I guess that's not a drop but then 6 isn't 8 so who cares? The economy is doing really well, even if most Americans are convinced it's horrible for some reason. Yes, thanks to the Republicans, there is no such thing as life and liberty. And I haven't even tried to be happy in months.
  2. Most of us live nowhere near Ralph Phillips and the chances of a run-in with him are incredibly small. I'm not enormously worried about my safety when I read about him. And you can't understand why anyone would be outraged that someone would ambush two police officers and shoot them with a high-powered rifle, killing one with a 13 month old child and putting the other in critical (now serious) condition after shooting him in the back? And the only reason that you can come up with why anyone would be outraged by this is that they're worried about their own self-preservation? Yeah, that makes sense. Then again, I always thought it was common sense to respect law enforcement for doing such difficult and dangerous jobs on our behalf. And I thought it was good old fashioned decency to care when they (or anyone) are ambushed and murdered. But perhaps you are better qualified to explain the thought process of people on this message board than the people themselves are. Or maybe you're just full of crap.
  3. How frightening is that? Someone can just morph into whatever they think will get them elected and it actually works! "I didn't like Hillary before, but she's really made sense the last six months so maybe she should be president." Man, maybe this whole "democracy" thing isn't going to work out after all. Maybe we should just close America for a couple months until we come up with something new. How 'bout we use that giant wheel from The Price is Right to make all our decisions?
  4. If you drag a police officer for even 20 feet using any vehicle, you've just forfeited your right not to be shot. One of the secrets to living a long life is to not act like an imbecile around police officers.
  5. The two state troopers he shot last night are still in critical condition today. One had his femoral artery severred and the other was shot in the back and the bullet passed through his abdomen. And at least one of the troopers is a father. What I can't stand is the stupid white trash hillbillies on the news who are blaming the cops for this. They have more than one woman saying "They were harassing him. What did they expect?" I may not be a stupid white trash Western New York southtowns hillbilly but at least I know that it is the job of law enforcement to "harass" criminals and fugitives. And that stuff about them using his grandkids to get to him is bull sh--. His ex-girlfriend and daughter were both helping him run. People up north make fun of the south, but in my three years in Texas I never saw anyone as filthy and ignorant as these people. I can't wait until the cops get the drop on this guy. And I can't wait until they put every single person who helped this animal in prison.
  6. It's cool that ML found time to get this 20 year old girl pregnant while dating Paris Hilton too.
  7. For three years! Good job, reporters!
  8. The song is great. The video is outstanding. These guys rule.
  9. Now that Rich Armitage is the guy who made Valerie Plame's job in the CIA public, the Washington Post has decided that it's not an important story. Ummmm...OOPS? Her husband is to blame. It must have really hurt them to write that. And someone should really check in on Jack Cafferty and Keith Olberman to make sure they're all right after their conspiracy theories fell apart.
  10. I can't believe that was written in August 2006. If anything, right now JP looks like he's closer to working out than he ever has.
  11. Cowherd is awful. His opinions are terrible and even when he gets something right he's annoying. Not to mention that he is not funny.
  12. Wow, no it wasn't. But I can see how you would draw that conclusion. I was mainly referring to radio shows with two hosts who pretend to argue because that is brutal to listen to for any length of time. I like PTI because it moves so fast. It does get annoying when it's obvious that they agreed to disagree about a topic in advance but when that happens it's only 60 seconds until the next topic. And Baseball Tonight is definitely ESPN's best show.
  13. "Maybe we should take off our clothes and warm each other." "Don't...don't be a fag...."
  14. Detox, I didn't know it when I woke up this morning, but today was the perfect day to bring back the NJ guido kids thread. Nicely done.
  15. Maybe if we included a smilie for "guilty", he'd be better able to express himself?
  16. Oh, it's definitely worse because (as KRC pointed out) most of these looks back are about the reporters' experiences. And like you said, now they KNOW (or should if they have a clue) that they did a terrible job but still try to sell people this idea that they did a great job.
  17. Nagin, Blanco, and the rest of the local officials are the most "quilty" for never having a plan in place for such an event. And they screwed up when they did try to help. Most errors were made locally. Most of the complaints about the federal response are a myth, so the federal government officials seem much less "quilty" than anyone stationed in LA. I doubt Truman or Eisenhower would have been able to ensure that voters in LA elect competent officials.
  18. They were congratulating themselves a year ago as the city was flooding. It'd be "great job covering the devastation" and the next story would be about the piles of bodies at the Superdome, the children being raped, and the survivors turning to cannibalism to survive. Not to mention the reporter woman in the canoe in 6 inches of water. But, yeah, the media is really trustworthy.
  19. I didn't take issue with that part. But (again) there are about 20 men in the world who don't look incompetent and confused taking snaps as NFL quarterbacks. That's hardly a reason to hate someone.
  20. Exactly. "Respectable" is the key word. If Gill can get us towards the middle of the pack in 1A, that's going to be really exciting for the community (especially if anything ever happens to the Bills). The Bulls don't need a national championship to be a success and asset.
  21. I like Jim Rome. He's great when he's interviewing someone. I also like that he doesn't do a show where he has a partner and they pretend to be complete opposites and argue about everything (does anyone like that?). Unfortunately for Rome, he gets really repetitive and annoying from time to time.
  22. And real life takes one more important step towards becoming The Naked Gun.
  23. This is some frightening stuff. Link The insurgents are getting more clever.
  24. If he was afraid to get hit, why would he hang onto the ball (presumably waiting for a play to develop) and end up getting sacked constantly? If he had no heart, why would he even attempt an NFL comeback in 2006 when he clearly didn't need the money? Rob Johnson just wasn't good enough to be an NFL quarterback. That's all there was to it. Any other attacks aren't necessary.
  25. The challengers to Colin Cowherd for worst radio show in the history of mankind. On days when they're feeling really clever, they have the fat Mike stuff an entire donut into his mouth, say something on air, and then have callers guess what he said for prizes. ESPN Radio has tons of talent.
