  1. It was mostly little kids. Everyone cheered for the players.
  2. Just got back from the unveiling - the white jerseys are completely terrible. A big yellow logo on a white jersey DOES NOT WORK. And having nothing along the bottom and top of the uniform makes the players look like big white rectangles with arms. What the !@#$ were they thinking? The home jerseys are OK, I guess, but they're so busy. All the dumbasses who said we needed to see these things in context to "get" them need to apologize. I actually think the banana slug is worse now that I've seen it on a uniform.
  3. To be fair, Clooney is trying to do a good thing by working with Elie Weisel to bring attention to the situation in Sudan. People should be paying attention to what is going on over there. Unfortunately, George Clooney still seems to think that the United Nations and their 7,000 (?) peacekeepers are the answer. Oh dear....
  4. But now the evil Big Oil companies are helping the evil Republicans by lowering gas prices! Or, at least, that's what CNN thinks. EVIL!
  5. I doubt he was sending messages earlier. He was posting and talking normal ALL WEEK about the game on Sunday. He even posted in his birthday thread early on Thursday! This is just plain horrible. (EDITED)
  6. Unreal. I'm completely speechless.
  7. The new jerseys will look about 100x better with the original logo. The Sabres are going to "pull an Islanders" and switch the better logo in within a few years. I'll get one then.
  8. Everyone needs to realize it's much more than "just a logo." In the year 2006, sports logos are essentially city seals. They might as well be the flags that represent the area. I couldn't tell you anything about Kansas City, but I can draw it's sports logos from memory. Sports teams are pretty much the only way the city of Buffalo is exposed to the rest of the country and the world (no one is coming here for jobs or to have a better life). The Bills and Sabres represent us. The Sabres had a chance to go back to the same classic logo they used to have. The original logo is timeless; it screams tradition. Buffalo is all about tradition. The only people who live here are from here and they've been cheering for the Sabres their entire lives (compare that to the "Caniacs" in NC). The banana slug is a trendy, focus-group driven, amorphous yellow blob. They tried so hard to make it look "cool" for thirteen year olds that it doesn't even look like a Buffalo! The slug is an even more drastic break from the original logo than the goathead was. The goathead was, at least, still a white buffalo and still tied into the significant of what a white buffalo represents. Yellow is the universal color of cowards. And more than just the fact that the new logo does a horrible job representing the city and fans - in a time where players come and go every few years, it'd be nice to have the same logo year after year. If the Sabres just went straight back to the original logo full time, it'd tie everything up nicely and the new fans could easily connect back with the people who've cheered the team for decades. There's basically little chance the slug is the logo for the next six years. There's no way in hell we have that logo for 10 years. So we know it's just a temporary thing until the next one. Essentially, it represents even less stability for the fans.
  9. It looks like a splotch of yellow even close up. And it looks like a giant booger painted on center ice.
  10. I'll paraphrase what he said: "Someone over at Two Bills Drive started a poll that I should have started. This should be the poll on the WGR website." Then he read some of the choices and he laughed. So good job.
  11. Brad Riter just mentioned this thread on his show. Hi Brad! (BTW, the Sabres new logo still sucks, Brad.)
  12. Conspiracy nothing, this is appeasement! Stay the course, Bobby, don't give in!
  13. I thought about it for a couple minutes and here's what I came up with: 1. Pretty girls. Seriously. I went a week without seeing any attractive women in person earlier this summer and I felt like I was dying. I could be having the worst day of my life and seeing a pretty girl would make me feel pretty good at least for a few minutes. 2. The internet. I don't know how we lived without this thing. 3. Cool air, especially at night.
  14. No, I'm sticking with my plan to buy a #10 Tallinder jersey. The slug logo is just such an abomination compared to the classic logo. If the new uniform was exactly the same but had the classic logo (in the new shades of blue and gold), I'd probably buy both the home and away versions.
  15. The colors look great. If nothing else, they definitely made a great choice in NOT going with "Vegas" gold and staying yellow.
  16. I think I like the jersey design. I think the small numbers in front are kinda cool. I'll have to see it Saturday morning to be sure. Still, the logo just plain blows. That uniform would definitely look better with the original logo. I don't understand why they can't keep the logo classic while getting creative elsewhere on the uniform.
  17. The word for months has been that the Sabres would have very "unique" uniforms this season. At dinner on Sunday, my dad and I decided to come up with all potential ways the uniforms would be "unique." Here is a partial list of what we came up with. -Each player will have a sash that reads SABRES or BUFFALO depending on whether the team is home or away. -The shoulders and helmets will have spikes. Think Legion of Doom from the old WWF. -Each player will have a cape. -Across each player's backside? The word "JUICY." (Don't worry, Larry Quinn came up with the idea of capes to cover this up since it's a little embarassing.) -Each Sabre will actually have a real sabre. The sword will be sheathed in a belt that each player will also have. So metal swords and belts are in! -No socks. None. -To help match the new logo, each player will wear a Zorro-like mask. Mysterious! -The uniforms will be completely biodegradable. This was a late addition to the overall look but was deemed necessary since there will be dozens of landfills full of the new uniforms in a few months after no one buys them.
  18. A poster named "cweibel" made a mockup of the new uniform based on all the gossip (as well as the hockey pants that have already leaked). Ugly. cweibel did a nice job putting all the rumors together so I wouldn't be too surprised if the uniform is close to this. Unfortunately, it's ugly as sin.
  19. Disaster. Good. Williams was a disaster. Denney is alright. Kelsay is OK, but we could use some offensive line. ????? Too early to tell. But when we traded up I was sure it was going to be for a guard. Anyways, we drafted one person for the O-line in the first two rounds since 2000. During that same time span, we drafted FOUR DE's and one DT. The offensive line is never going to improve if we don't invest in it.
  20. ...wow.
  21. I'd rather have a great offensive line and two OK running backs. Seriously, if the Bills selected an offensive or defensive lineman in the first round of every draft, I don't think I'd complain.
  22. The latest rumor is the sabres "B" logo is on the upper chest on the right side (opposite where the captains C would be on the other side). So I guess it's possible the slug won't be across the chest.
  23. Talent and winning? Has McGahee really done anything that great in the league yet? He did say he was the best RB in the NFL last year, I guess that was nice. He's a decent running back so far. That's about it. If the coaching staff thinks they can win with him, then I'll take their word for it. I don't think we have to get rid of him ASAP but I'm definitely not high on the guy at all.
  24. I have no personal reason not to like him. I've never met him. I just think he's dumb. I don't want to think he's dumb. I have no reason to want him to be dumb. As a Bills fan, I have no reason to want any Bills player to be dumb. If anything, I try to find reasons to believe in these players. Unfortunately, after 3+ years of listening to McGahee, I have to be honest and just admit I don't think this guy is too bright.
  25. Larry Quinn and Mike Schoop disagree. You have to see the dump in context!
