  1. It isn't. I'm making fun of the people who call WGR and basically count JP out and say he's never going to amount to anything in the NFL. (This includes Fred Smerlas.) Most of the anti-JP crowd likes to revel in statements that make no sense -- like asking a QB with 11 career starts to be an established NFL star. Comparing him to a once in a generation QB like Tom Brady doesn't prove anything. I'm not saying he WILL win a Super Bowl, mind you, just that the anti-JP stuff is garbage at this point.
  2. I'm tired of comparing sh------- reporting to other sh------- reporting and saying everything is OK. It's really not too much to ask for competent reporting from newspapers and TV stations. It's 2006. The internet is here. Information is available like never before and there's really no reason (other than intent) for getting things so wrong. And like I said before, thanks to the internet all these biased journalist dumbasses are going to get caught. So it doesn't make sense to do anything other than try to get the facts straight.
  3. Yeah, but he's never going to win a Super Bowl.
  4. During the Bills pre-game, Jeremy White on WGR was going on and on about how the Pats were going to get killed today and how he was excited about watching that after the Bills were done. If we're lucky, Jeremy will pick the Pats to win the rest of their games and the Bills to lose the rest of the games.
  5. Less "analysis" on the front page would be a good start. You succeeded in pointing out that the NYT editorial page is liberal. Thanks, I guess. I'm more concerned that their headlines don't match their articles.
  6. Yeah, it's expecting WAY too much for reporters to actually do their job and report the facts. Biased, misleading newspapers and TV shows are OK because everyone is doing it, right? The "whining" serves a purpose. It correctly points out that most of the outlets that people have been relying on for decades are complete trash. Oh, and by most estimates the number of reporters pushing a liberal agenda is much greater than those pushing a conservative one. Here's an example. In a two-party system, that counts for something. If more people know that their major media outlets are more interested in selling stories than presenting reality, there's a better chance people will seek out more sources of information. And it's not too much to ask major newspapers to report the facts correctly. They have the resources and in the age of the internet, the chances of slipping a bunch of crap through to the public and getting away with it are slim.
  7. Not sure how many other people are going to get that reference but that was hilarious. You think Millhouse was there?
  8. I back JP for both reasons. Someone asked me this past week how the Bills were doing. I said they were 1-2 but this season (unlike last season) I really liked watching the team play because I liked the guys on the team and figured they'd at least be around .500. I really like all the young players on this team -- guys like Losman, Evans, Parrish, and the entire rookie lot. It's like last year's Sabres. I felt like I was cheering for the uniforms (Buffalo) and the players too. It was an awesome group. It still is.
  9. Willis was better than his stats today.
  10. Yes it can, and it will be. The anti-Losman people in Buffalo and across the country made up their minds over 12 months ago.
  11. Nice timing, numbnuts.
  12. 7-6 Bills at halftime. We should be up by WAY more. I'm still seeing red over that completely retarded call on the onside kick. Someday I'd like to watch an NFL game where the referees don't blow a huge call that will affect the outcome.
  13. NO! Not "you" as in "you, UConn James"! I'm saying if you are from Area X and Area X is in the discussion for place with the highest taxes, that means you (as a resident of Area X) are probably overtaxed. In other words, if Area X is in the discussion for highest taxes in the country, its taxes are too high. At no point was I or am I making any personal statement about you.
  14. I know you were agreeing with me. Reading my last post again, I can see how you would think I was being confrontational (the "warm and fuzzy" line) but that definitely wasn't my intention. I really appreciated your post because it covered a lot of the ground I was going to have to cover. Had you not posted what you did, I was going to start my reply mentioning that there are countless ways to figure out where the highest taxes are. In any event, though, I maintain that if your area is even in the discussion, you're already in big trouble.
  15. Sometimes I listen to Gamenight on the weekends and it's decent. Pretty much every other time I listen to ESPN Radio, though, it's been a complete disaster. And if I found out that I would be forced to listen to Colin Cowherd for three hours every day for the rest of my life, I'd be on my way to Wal-Mart right now to pick up the rifle I'd use to kill myself. Holy ****, that guy is so terrible he actually makes me like sports less in general. Well, Olbermann wasn't content just making his own show terrible.
  16. I wasn't commenting on the link, just the NYT in general.
  17. Meanwhile, scientists are still years away from explaining the breathtaking levels of stupidity you display on this board......
  18. They're going to be in rare form the next five weeks. At any point during the year they use misleading headlines and print facts selectively, but with an election around the corner I expect them to pull out all the stops.
  19. If you're even in the discussion, you've already lost. I'm not going to get all warm and fuzzy because NY is only the second worst state for taxes (as percentage of earnings). Per capita, we're no. 1. Here is that list. The guy got his information from the Census Bureau's 2004 fiscal data, which is here. Here is another article that I found helpful.
  20. The people who get out are the smart ones. I don't blame anyone who doesn't want to waste their entire life trying to turn around a hopeless city that has been completely decimated by generation after generation of "save us, big government" voters. Highest taxes in the country and no jobs left (and, BTW, adios American Axle plant in a few years). Buffalo may be the only culture in the history of the world that has completely failed to do anything with waterfront property. And 10 years after the Aud closed down, they finally decided to do something with it. They're going to tear it down to put up a fishing store.
  21. Yeah, because I said JP played a "great" game. I can see how you would (correctly) draw that conclusion from the words I am typing and posting on this message board. Brilliant.
  22. There's no way you can say JP held onto the ball too long on that play. He was getting rid of the ball quickly but when a blitzer runs into the backfield completely untouched these things are going to happen. The crowd noise? Maybe you can't tell from your living room but if you're actually on the field, there are about 1000 things happening all around you at once. Players are not paying attention to the crowd noise.
  23. The fumble that the Jets ran back (to break the game open) was entirely his fault.
  24. I'm still digesting McGahee's game. He ran great for the most part but not picking up the blitz really killed the team. (Imagine the game if he picks up the blitz on JP's second fumble.) I don't know what to think of McGahee.
  25. Two of the three turnovers were because Losman's blind side was completely unprotected. As for the Jets, it's really easy to NOT make mistakes when there's no pass rush. Good defense makes the other team make mistakes. The difference today was the pass rush, not the quarterbacks.
