Carolina at Buffalo tonight, HSBC Arena
SilverNRed replied to smokinandjokin's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Yeah and Ryan Miller would have done it if Kalinin's leg didn't break, Tallinder's arm didn't break, McKee's leg didn't get infected, or Numminen's groin didn't explode like the Death Star. Sabres didn't lose last year because the Canes had better goaltending. They lost because they had no one left to make the first pass coming out of their own zone in game 7. What a friggin joke. -
No, but it would make for smarter, better radio. Completely overreacting and yelling at people who disagree is a really easy way to do a really terrible radio show.

If they wanted to do the conspiracy thing, they could've thrown Osama Bin Laden on the list.

Eat some nachos for me. I hope the Sabres win 312-0. The Canes are the least legitimate champions I can remember. They beat Montreal after Saku Koivu suffered an eye injury that left him (temporarily) blind. They beat the Sabres after the Sabres lost four of their defensemen. They beat the Oilers in seven games but didn't beat their no.1 goalie, Dwayne Roloson, in any of those games because he was hurt in game 1 of that series. -
I can't even begin to list all the ways Buffy the Vampire Slayer has changed the world. They seriously could have just named the list "most famous book and movie characters." Throw some of the smurfs on there, who gives a crap?

And that's just if he plays against the Sabres a couple more times.....

There's a blast from the past. I'd forgotten about Richio and his Joe Camel avatar. -
My favorite albums from the last 10 years
SilverNRed replied to Cugalabanza's topic in Off the Wall Archives
For whatever reason, I've never been into Flogging Molly. I know a lot of people who swear by them, though. I think the song "Memory" may be the best song they've ever done but I didn't like the rest of the album as much as Start Static. I haven't heard one song I like from their third album either, which is a little disconcerting. Huge TBS fan, but TAYF is probably my least favorite of their three albums. It has the best lyrics (because they still had John Nolan then) but musically Louder Now is way better. I listened to "Spin" and "Error: Operator" before every Sabres playoff game last spring. I've been meaning to pick this one up. Everything I've heard from it was great. I seriously considered typing this one in for my first post. Great album. I always wondered about his health when recording it. He was diagnosed with Leukemia around when it came out but, based on the lyrics, he had to be sick when writing it all. -

First, TBS is NOT emo. Second, I don't think "Urban Dictionary" is a solid source when looking for definitions. Third, even if you used their definition, that definition doesn't fit Taking Back Sunday. Louder Now and Where You Want To Be had very little acoustic guitar, Adam Lazarra does not have "soft, high male" voice, and the lyrics aren't all moopy and sad. Maybe TBS' first album fits the "emotional lyrics" profile but that's about as close as you get. -

I 100% believe that without the MCM, the Bills would have been in the Super Bowl that season. Would RJ still be the QB? Possibly. I think there are a lot of players that could have and would have succeeded had things gone differently earlier in their careers. I don't think every QB that fails was destined to fail no matter what.

That's one of the reasons I posted it. Because two weeks ago they really liked the guy but now he's a lost cause (?). Do any of the anti-Losman people have a solution to the QB situation if Losman has to go? Are we going to neglect the offensive line again next year to draft another young QB? And what free agent QB wants to move to Buffalo?
-
Mike Schoop decided to take a day off from talking about his fantasy baseball team and calling people who hate the new Sabres uniforms stupid to say Losman has been lousy this season and is regressing. Losman's questionable decisions are making him a lost cause (apparently the league isn't full of QB's who make bad decisions ). Also Losman is terrible because he hasn't been able to carry the team on his shoulders like Tom Brady was able to in 2001. Oh, and if you call in to say you think Losman is still learning on the job and doing OK, he'll yell at you (pretty much the way he yells at everyone who calls with a different opinion). Bulldog also thinks Losman is circling the drain. He chimes in when Schoop lets him. Take these opinions to the bank, Buffalo. Just 2-3 months ago, Bulldog was bemoaning the fact that the Bills hadn't gone after Daunte Culpepper and Schoop was freaking out on air because he saw Marv Levy reading a roster sheet during training camp.

When the Bills get you down...
SilverNRed replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Or Daniel Briere. Or Henrik Tallinder (captain of the Swedish junior team at one point). Or Teppo Numminen. Or any of their young players who've shown leadership in the juniors or minors (Roy, Novotny, Gaustad, etc.). The Sabres built their entire roster around character players. They draft that way. It makes a difference. -
Pat LaFontaine Then any current Buffalo Sabre. Then Lee Evans (who I voted for). Then Donte Whitner.

Brand New - Deja Entendu (from 2003, now my favorite album of all-time) Deftones - White Pony (2000, my previous favorite album of all-time) Brand New - Your Favorite Weapon (2001, best punk-pop album I own) Sugarcult - Start Static (2001, punk-pop again) Something Corporate - North (2003, piano rock that isn't wussy) Deftones - Around the Fur (1997, probably the best metal album I own, I used to listen to this on the way to Sabres games to get pumped up) Third Eye Blind - Out of the Vein (2003, their third album and probably their least popular because it arrived six years after their big debut. It's a great record though. They are much better than they get credit for (stop rolling your eyes!)) I don't know how obscure all of these are but this is the best I could come up with on short notice (I know Brand New is obscure since they're yet to have a gold record with either album). -
Great episode tonight. Awesome that Locke couldn't pull the trigger (so that makes, what, one person on the plane who didn't kill anyone previously ). Anyways, this episode has me excited about Lost again. The show seemed to go back to the magic stuff it was all about in its first season. I love that the island is telling Locke to rescue Jack, etc. It's cool that Locke has a mission (though I am worried the writers will screw this up by making it all turn out to be ANOTHER trap set by the Others to capture Locke, which could turn out to be ANOTHER part of ANOTHER trap by the Others *yawn*). Oh, and I really liked that Desmond was still alive. He's cool.

That's right, I'd forgotten about that. There are probably a lot of players in their 20s who grew up liking the Bills due to all the AFC championships. Buffalo used to be a really important NFL city (sadly..."used to be"). I was at his first game (home opener against the Saints) and he was awesome. TH always played with a ton of heart. It's too bad things ended so poorly for him here.

Gov't Dismisses NFL Dirty Bomb Threats
SilverNRed replied to blzrul's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Plus there's not that much to attack. Maybe they could blow up a grain elevator or something. -
...in that I have to pay for them? Dude, LOST is on TV for free. Wait, what?

Gov't Dismisses NFL Dirty Bomb Threats
SilverNRed replied to blzrul's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I don't see how telling officials in every city counts as "dismissing" the threat. They're taking it seriously, they just don't think it's a credible threat. I can't imagine attacks on NFL cities that wouldn't include Buffalo. There's a huge open border and we already had the Lackawanna Six. -
Not too thrilled with the season so far but this episode was definitely much better than the opener. I agree with whoever said that it's boring The Others always get what they want. The stars of the show need to get a victory at some point (it's season 3 for cryin' out loud) just to let us know that we're not following the story of a bunch of morons who can't do anything right. Even in this episode Sawyer beat up a few guards and start laying the groundwork for an escape.....but (OOPS) we can't let The Others seem vulnerable so there was Ben monitoring the whole conversation at the end. Gimme a damn break. What sucks about the show the most (besides the thousands of loose ends we know they'll never get to) is that I already know that everything the stars do will turn out to be playing right into the hands of The Others.

Bad weather is going to hurt ANY QB trying to run a two minute offense at the end of a game. Bad weather affects EVERY QB's ability to throw. Also, Losman didn't choose to play in WNY. The Bills drafted him. If every NFL player could choose where they wanted to play, the Bills would have a three man roster. "Somebody turn on a fan?" Please tell me you aren't trying to imply that Losman has a weak arm.... Losman is an OK quarterback right now. He does things to help the team win and he does things that don't work out. Quarterbacks tend to get better with age, however, so I'm willing to stick with him to see how he develops.

Thank God for the Sabres...
SilverNRed replied to Pine Barrens Mafia's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Except that the Sabres are getting more powerful with each passing minute. Maybe four games ago Montreal had a chance but that was two weeks ago. The Sabres get bigger, faster, stronger, and taller with each game. I attended two Sabres games this season and just being in their presence made me an inch taller and better looking. I'm projecting the Sabres to be 25-0 by the end of this month. To let you know how well things are going, it's 11:15am and Chris Drury just scored another goal. I don't even know how..... -
Why would you, or anyone in the world, watch any of the Law & Order shows? They are all unspeakably terrible. The older L&O are decent but the new ones are awful. Now they always work in a stupid, heavy-handed message (usually about how bad evangelicals or conservatives are). Last week I saw the first couple minutes of the show and they completely inverted reality by having the crime be two jingoistic Americans videotaping themselves beheading a helpless Muslim (while one screamed "GOD BLESS AMERICA!"). It's sad. I used to like that show.
