Thank God for the Sabres...
SilverNRed replied to Pine Barrens Mafia's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Going to Sabres games is absolutely the best thing to do in Buffalo. It'll be a travesty if we don't sell out every game this season. -
Really? That great play he made on the first TD was nothing? That long drive on the second touchdown was nothing? His 40 yard scramble for a net gain of 3 on 3rd and 2 was nothing? Yes, JP didn't get it done on our second last drive but we completely abandoned the running game during that drive. And any time you make your offense that one dimensional, you're begging for trouble (especially when your O line isn't providing any pass protection against 4 pass rushers). And let's not forget that that drive started at the 3 yard line. JP is an OK quarterback right now. QB's tend to get much better with age and experience.

I just watched it on YouTube. Now one of the goals for the rest of my life is to find a way to work the term "clue goo" into a real conversation. Not to mention: "Chocolate Hot Dog" "Fudge Dragon" and all the other ones

Watching McGahee play his first games for the Bills, I swore he had "It". Now I'm pretty sure he's just an OK running back. I'm also really happy we drafted Donte Whitner.

Losman was terrible (and I mean terrible) in the first half but he was one of the only Bills that I thought really did anything to give the Bills a chance to win yesterday. He made a great play on the first touchdown and engineered a great drive to make it 17-20. And everyone had to think we were in great shape on our second to last drive but we ended up passing on every down and eventually that screwed up (we seem to blow a late drive like that every game). People should get used to the idea of Losman being the QB this season and into next season. Because there's no way we give him 16 games this year without finding out if it helped him grow into a better QB for the next season (because a lot of growth is going to happen when he's mulling over his first full season this spring). I still see enough from JP that I think he could turn into a pretty great QB for the Bills. All his problems seem correctable. Any new young QB will give us all the same problems over again and I don't think any pro bowl veterans are going to become available and want to sign with Buffalo.

*ahem* It's Buffalo Fighting Banana Slugs. Maybe that doesn't mean a lot to you, but I've been a fan my whole life and I insist that we get the name right. Slug 'Em!!

Sluggo, Sluggo, Sluggo, Sluggo...
SilverNRed replied to Alaska Darin's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I'm really excited about wearing one of SDS's "You Got Slugged" t-shirts to the next Sabres home game. -
I think jersey sales would go up if they did another uniform overhaul to give the team a more classic look. Everyone that wants to own one of the current uniforms already has one (I have an Eric Moulds somewhere that I got for $20). And after the initial surge from having new stuff to sell, it's all about the players on the uniforms. There's going to be a rush on Donte Whitner jerseys next season for sure (Lee Evans too).
-
Supposedly they were thinking about doing that last season (petitioning the league to let them do it for this year). I haven't heard anything about that in a year though. Bills would really benefit from going back to a classic look. The current uniforms are way too busy. The away uniforms have royal blue numbers, navy blue shoulder, red side panels, and silver trim on the pants. WTF? Then again, at least the Bills were smart enough not to ditch a classic logo unlike some other area team that comes to mind........

Probably something along the lines of "I can't believe the Bills won the Super Bowl their first season in Los Angeles!"

He will be made fun of, and he will turn out to be a complete idiot. The idiot part won't have to do so much with his name as it does the fact that he shares DNA with his father, who this story confirms as a complete idiot. "ESPN Montana Real" Is there a more clear way to send a message to your newborn son that you don't care about him at all?

Child Raping Scandle Hits Home
SilverNRed replied to true_blue_bill's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Well, no children were involved. And no one was ever raped. But aside from those minor details, we're looking at a clear case of child rape. Foley is a pervert who sent sexual emails to 16 year old boys. So he should be treated and regarded as a pervert who sent sexual emails to 16 year old boys. Not a "child rapist." He's a douche bag. He used this job to meet and attempt to coerce 16 year olds into having sex with him by sending them perverse messages. He's basically a less successful version of that female teacher in Florida who actually did have sex with her high school students. He's a defective human being but not a "child rapist." If he was a 16 year old boy and had sex with another 16 year old boy, no one would give a rat's ass (maybe his parents would). Or if he was still a middle-aged congressman and had sex with another middle-aged man, no one would give a rat's ass. It's not "rape," it's sexual harassment of young people. -
Thank goodness TIME magazine was able to dig up this photo. I suppose they must have reported everything else worth reporting already and they had some spare time left over to give us this. Could someone in the MSM at least try serious, competent reporting just once? Just once? Just give it a try and see how it works out? Maybe next year?

Child Raping Scandle Hits Home
SilverNRed replied to true_blue_bill's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Foley is a Grade A scumbag. Grown men are meant to leave 16 year olds alone. I don't think there's any way to say he's anything but a very creepy individual who basically engineering his life to be in a position to prey on teenagers. But I don't know how much effect this will end up having on the election. Are people really going to factor in Mark Foley when thinking about re-electing their own congressman? I guess they might, the way the facts in this case have completely gone out the window (see thread title). I also wonder if the Repugs had forced Foley to resign over those emails a year ago if they wouldn't have taken flack for "targetting gays." Seems like they had a few odd emails by one of their homosexual congressmen and there wasn't any obvious thing to do. Also the news is running this story that Foley did have sex with a former page.....when the page was 21. How the !@#$ is that news? "Gay Men Had Sex" is not a headline, for crying out loud. -
Do you think Jp still considered a top 20 Qb?
SilverNRed replied to Oneonta Buffalo Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Losman was our best player in the 1st quarter. He came out throwing the ball very well. He imploded in the 2nd quarter with the rest of the team, right around when we gave up on the run for some reason. -
What do you think is the best movie trilogy ever?
SilverNRed replied to Oneonta Buffalo Fan's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Back to the Future may be the most consistant and well thought-out. Original Star Wars is right behind it (and only because the Return of the Jedi that they ended up making was nothing like the one they were planning when they made Empire). -

Can a political party have its "hand down kids' pants"? When did the "rape" actually take place? And are the children really "children" when the age of consent in DC is 16? Oh, nevermind, I'm sure you're right. The Republicans are the party of baby-raping, child-molestors. -
(Bills @ Bears) Official game thread
SilverNRed replied to Oneonta Buffalo Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It must be nice for Peerless to know that the only thing he's good at in the entire world is catching a football, and he can't even do that. -
On the other hand, that's probably the only way to remind Raleigh that they have a team. Sabres are off to an incredible start. This could really be a magical season.

October Movies: The Prestige, Flags of our Fathers
SilverNRed replied to Mark Vader's topic in Off the Wall Archives
The Prestige will own. It's basically made by the entire team behind Batman Begins. Man of the Year looks like the worst movie ever made and will continue Robin Williams' DiMaggio-like streak of making complete crap every time he tries to be funny. The trailer alone had like 10 groan-inducing moments. Robin Williams gets elected, in part, because he breaks the rules during the Presidential debate by yelling lame gay marriage jokes over the moderator. ("Same sex marraige? Everyone who's ever been married knows it's always the same sex!" Nyuck nyuck nyuck!) Plus you see Laura Linney crying at some point while watching RW on TV which means we're guaranteed a completely ridiculous "touching" ending, most likely with a really blatant MESSAGE scene. Oh, and another supposedly funny part is where he jokes about making Bruce Springsteen Secretary of State. That's......funny...... To be fair, Man of the Year looks about as unfunny as Employee of the Month but I'm pretty sure EOTM won't try to bludgeon us with a message of some sort or try to be touching. -
Let's take BOTD OLD SCHOOL

What shows would you say are smarter? The only shows I can think of that are as smart are The Office and The Shield. Matt Stone has said he "hates conservatives" but "really !@#$ing hates liberals." Those guys are libertarians.
