And now....another "Macaca Moment"
SilverNRed replied to Joey Balls's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Are you kidding? This is great. The board hasn't been this alive in two years. Some guy named Ted Haggard is gay! John Kerry both is and is not an idiot! We even have some guy who thinks the Bush TANG memos are real. It's like Christmas. I don't know which idiot to make fun of first. -
Where was the Bush apology to the troops?

So.....is it worse to be for a war and then want to win it while it's going on, or to be in favor of a war and then want to give up as soon as things get tough? -

Nice comeback. I'd love to respond but I have no idea how what you just said relates to anything about the last few posts. -

You already told me to do that ("Keep beating that dead horse, SnR."). For someone so concerned about the length of the thread, you're repeating yourself. How odd. Uh, you keep blah blah blah, though.... -

Was there ever any proof that such a typewriter would be used by the supposed author or that he would worry about such subtilities when writing a simple memo or two? No? Oh, then I guess what you just said means absolutely nothing. Do you have ANY proof that these are real? Anything? Besides the fact that you like what they say? Seriously, I imagine that less than 1% of Americans still cling to the hope that these were real. Do you really want to be in that group? I doubt that. Your first example above failed to take anything apart. I actually would like for you to continue trying, though, because this is friggin' hilarious. Meeting someone in October (now November) 2006 still peddling the fake memo story is pretty much like finding a frozen cavemen in my backyard. Or a unicorn. -

Fox News just screwed up their US political party history a few minutes ago as well. They were talking about Thomas Jefferson for some reason (I had the TV on mute) and the bottom of the screen read that TJ had founded the Democratic party in 1792. Then it read that the party was originally called the Democratic-Republicans. Actually the party was originally called the Republicans and was called that when he was elected President in 1800. Jefferson's speech, to bring the nation back together after a bitter election, began "We are all Republicans, We are all Federalists....." That was the first real transfer of power in US history, and back then people weren't sure there would be a peaceful transfer of power in democracies so it was important to get that right. This really has nothing to do with anything, I just like to throw these fun facts out there for everyone. You can use them to impress women! (Not really.) -

I wouldn't call it a stretch, I'd call it completely wrong. This guy also bragged on his blog that he was going to go disrupt the speech. He wanted this to happen and he wanted to be on TV getting kicked out of there. I wish these retards on both sides would just stop going to speeches they don't like to make a name for themselves. -

Do it Kerry-style. Start with "I APOLOGIZE TO NO ONE!" today and eventually get around to kinda, sorta regretting that everyone else is stupid and misinterprets you later. And count on normally smart people who happen to be liberal temporarily dropping their reading comphrehension down a notch to declare you non-apology a real apology so they can declare the whole thing over. -

Explain how. I don't like the Republicans. I just hate the Democrats. The main thing I want from this is for people to understand the full extent of what a complete !@#$ John Kerry is. I think everyone instinctly understands he's an !@#$ but I like to really explore just what a one-in-a-million, once-in-a-lifetime hole of ass he really is. -

The South dominating the GOP is a pretty clear cut indication that the Civil War isn't quite over. As everyone knows, the GOP was always heavily influenced by the southern states. They used to love Lincoln and that's why he was nominated. -

But they don't. Because shoddy, slanted journalism is the order of the day in every outlet that you mentioned above. So either they aren't doing anything to improve the reporting or it's not working. You remember the NYT's big "missing explosives in Iraq" story on their front page a week before the 2004 Presidential Election that completely fizzled out? Or the 60 Minutes fiasco that we're talking about in this very thread? Or, wait, how about the NYT constantly publishing classified information (most recently on a surveillance problem that was almost universally accepted as legal)? The AP and Reuters are "centrist"? Their coverage of Israel is embarassing. Or maybe you thought the doctored and staged photos from a few months back were "centrist." You can argue about how there is theoretically no liberal media all you want but they are printing and broadcasting the proof every single day. -

And I think most would read Kerry's quote and mine and see that they are completely different. Saying "I chose the wrong words" is taking responsibility, while saying "my words were misinterpreted" is saying it's everyone's fault but mine that people were offended. So either: 1. SnR, some guy on a message board, understands English better than Senator John Kerry. or 2. John Kerry carefully worded his apology to deflect responsibility. I tend to think it's choice #2 and that's pretty fuggin' sad. -

I will, because he deserves it. His apology (or whatever it was) was pathetic. I don't mind pointing that out. If he ever manages to say something intelligent in the wake of this entire mess, I'll give him credit (though it's basically WAY too late for him to make anything right from the last three days). No he isn't. "Sorry you were offended because you misinterpreted me" is not an apology. And it does matter that his supposed apology only came after his own party abandoned him on this one. What he said was offensive. He shouldn't have been waiting to see if no one would hold him accountable. "I'm sorry for what I said. I was trying to make a different point, chose the wrong words, and ended up saying something offensive and incorrect." Wow, John, see how easy that was? -

Because I'm such a swell guy, here are at least SOME of the reasons why those documents were fake. Link Take your time, read it all, and follow the links. Try not to feel too embarassed about being over two years behind everyone else in the world on this story. -

They're valid because Dan Rather said they were. Or at least he was pretty sure they were. Look, they were faxed to him from a Texas Kinkos so that's pretty valid to me. If we go by the "Joey Balls" version of how to determine if something is true or not, Dan Rather could claim that 10,000 years ago space aliens fought a war over planet earth (or as it was called then "Xyrewzewyu") to determine the future of mankind, and it's a fact. We really can't prove it didn't happen....... -

His words weren't "misinterpreted"! They were interpreted correctly. He just (supposedly) used the wrongs words for what he was (supposedly) trying to say. I suppose it's fitting that his apology would also be convoluted, insulting, and inaccurate. -

Exactly. Kerry's whole press conference yesterday afternoon could have been less than 60 seconds and there wouldn't have been any story today. Instead he played the "I'm a real man" card. Wow, and that didn't work? No kidding... EDIT: From Drudge Link "HALP US!" -

Yeah, they're just the ones who do the writing in the papers and the talking on the television. And as BJ pointed out, they're also the ones who become the editors and the ones who run the networks. Do you really think the owners of the newspapers and television channels go through every story and newsbroadcast and then fax over notes on how to make things more conservative? Of course not. A bunch of the shows on CNN and MSNBC led their broadcasts last night quickly trying to explain what Kerry "meant to say." I had no idea it was their job to go to the mattresses for the guy. Why not start with what he said, the response, and then his response to that response? They basically started their shows with Kerry's explanation as solid fact. Susanne Malveaux (CNN) even let the mask slip and literally said on air that "we hope this whole things blows over tomorrow." What the hell kind of reporting is that? And that's not to mention the complete opposite treatment that was given to Trent Lott (for his compliment to Strom Thurman at the old geezer's friggin' birthday party), George Allen (somehow "Macaca" was more offensive than what Kerry said), and even Rush Limbaugh. In context, what Rush Limbaugh said wasn't that bad but did even one reporter on CNN, MSNBC, ABC, NBC, or CBS go out of their way to explain what Limbaugh "meant to say"? Nope. -

Oh my God. You must be the person they're targeting when they send out those Nigerian bank account emails. Because the reporters agree with them. The vast majority of reporters today are liberal/democrats. -
Um, no. I avoid ESPN's football coverage like it's a venerial disease. That network is basically dead to me unless they're doing something baseball related.
