Some people in the thread already have. Anyone with half a brain can tell you that once you start disobeying the cops when they ask you do something, they're going to get physical and that's going to suck for you. And I'm sure this kid has a really sound mind when the first thing he thinks to do after getting hit with taser is start screaming about the Patriot Act. The same people always see police brutality and basically have no appreciation for police officers in general (look at all the "stupid rent-a-cop" blasts in this thread). I'm not really surprised some UCLA college students think this is the worth crime against humanity of all time. It doesn't really matter. This kid is going to win a $2 million dollar lawsuit (*at least*) and the cops will probably lose their jobs for trying to get this jackass away from where he wasn't supposed to be.
-
And the six minutes starts after he's been screaming at the cops but before the physical struggle takes place. This crap had to be going on for a while before the video starts for people to not only stop what they're doing and pay attention but also break out their video cameras, etc. I'm sorry, how did they know he wasn't a danger? He was acting completely irrational after being asked to leave a computer lab.
-
The guy wouldn't leave after being repeatedly asked to leave and was acting more and more irrational. He had no student ID so it's possible he wasn't even a student. They have no idea why he's acting irrational. No idea why he's there and won't leave immediately even after being surrounded by cops. Yeah, I can see them using the taser to finally get him the hell out of there. He brought this on himself. Why do you think the cops broke out the taser? Were they just bored? Wanted to see if it worked? Maybe they're all monsters? Were they fascist cops who thought they could do whatever they wanted because of the Patriot Act? Seriously, other than thinking this guy was a threat, why would they have used the taser? Please tell me.

Fascist!

Avoid escalating the situation by actually leaving when they tell you to leave. Don't make them ask over and over and then go limp when they're escorting you out. You don't have to be a !@#$ing moron to get tasered by the cops, but it helps.

John Edwards is against Wal-Mart
SilverNRed replied to SilverNRed's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
The story that would sell the most papers is if John Edwards specifically told his staff members to go to all the local Wal-Marts and get him a PS3 by making sure they knew it was for him. And then laughed diabolically "Bwahahahahahahahaha!" But that's probably not how it happened either. In any event I really like politicians apologizing for shopping at a Wal-Mart. -
According to the NBC link that you posted, he wasn't. And this isn't about the "Patriot Act" or "this country" or whatever. It's about one guy being a complete douche and not leaving when the police tell him to leave. Do you really think the police were bored and just felt like breaking out the tasers?
-
I found this right before you posted it (you mentioned it above) and it shows the same thing. The student they interviewed even says he was struggling. Not to mention what happened before the video was rolling: I'll still give the benefit of the doubt to the cops. Lastly, the kid in the white shirt at the end of the YouTube video is clearly getting way too close to the officers and in the NBC video they even mention that the full quote is "If you don't back up, you're going to get tasered too." They didn't say that because he was just asking for badge numbers.
-
You don't "see" any of it. You mainly see the backs of other students and hear the guy being arrested screaming (and obviously not cooperating). They threaten to taser one student at the very end because he's getting into the cop's face. And that's another thing: it's never a good idea to "intervene" with the cops. And you can still be fighting with the cops if you're handcuffed and "down." And who the hell is insane enough that they have to be handcuffed when they aren't let into a computer lab. You forget your ID card, security won't let you in, you leave. The end. The whole thing happened because this one guy was a moron. The cops didn't want this. Why would they?
-
Hmmmm...PS3 or a burning sensation when you pee........ I think they made the right choice.
-
Here comes my predictable response: The guy was a douche bag. If the cops tell you to leave, leave. If the cops are escorting you out, don't fight them. And if the cops taser you when you fight them, don't scream "THIS is your Patriot Act!" That pretty much lets you know what kind of mentality this guy had. The video doesn't actually "show" anything, it's basically all sound. And it starts when the actual physical altercation starts. Every cop wants the exact same thing to happen every day they're on the job: NOTHING. They don't want to pull their gun. They don't want to taser anyone. They don't even want to get physical with anyone because they know they'll be videotaped and some people will always say they went too far.

John Edwards is against Wal-Mart
SilverNRed replied to SilverNRed's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
My favorite part about the whole thing is that people are stupid enough to put themselves in a position where they have to apologize and say they "feel terrible" because they shopped at Wal-Mart. Like Dateline NBC could set up a camera crew outside WM and just ask everyone coming out: "What were you doing in there? What did you expect to happen? Are you sorry?" -
God forbid they "be on the lookout for any information." That's not exactly the same thing as typing up fake Texas Air National Guard documents. As for the name-calling part, there have been ABC news documents leaked that show their people taking similar shots at Bush. Not to mention CNN.com having a picture of Bush on their front page titled "!@#$.jpeg." All of which basically means that 1. none of our news outlets are particularily competent and 2. all of the news outlets should be more open about where they're coming from (liberal or conservative).

And I'm sure that's exactly how it happened. -
Does it mention Awesome-o?

This has nothing do with anything but it's hilarious. Hilarious Aside from the hypocrisy, how many millions of dollars is Edwards worth? eBay exists pretty much entirely so that people can pay way too much money to get their hands on the new Playstation in time for Christmas. Spend 10 minutes on eBay and buy your video game. No need to send your staffers on a suicide mission to evil Wal-Mart. And how retarded is his staff that the best idea they could come up with was to go to WM and make sure they mentioned it was a PS3 for John Edwards.
-
It probably is. Did I imply it wasn't? In any event, Nintendo Wii launches with a new Zelda game. Now that's something I could see people demanding to own on day 1. Camping out for PS3 so you can play the same Madden 07 that's already been available for months for 360, PS2, XBOX, and Gamecube? Not so much.

Bills and Buffalo are made for each other

Don't be a dick. She's been posting here for years and this is the first time she's ever said anything like this. She's probably just having a bad day. -
Is anyone still enjoying last year's
SilverNRed replied to Albany,n.y.'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You don't build great teams by drafting high, you build great teams by drafting well. You can find good players picking 8th overall pretty much as easily as you can drafting 3rd. Donte Whitner has been very good. Either way, you have to keep drafting well after your first selection. And good offensive lineman aren't exclusive to the first five picks of the draft. We have a pretty good LT right now who wasn't even drafted. -

Before you give up on Buffalo, are you absolutely, positively, 100% sure you don't want to stick around and see if we ever build that giant fishing store downtown? Would a casino change your mind? There's still a chance we might maybe get another bridge built. -
What is your most favorite Star Wars fight/battle?
SilverNRed replied to Oneonta Buffalo Fan's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Don't forget this guy: That's right. Cliff Friggin' Clavin fought for the Rebel Alliance. When you take that into account, it's pretty obvious who was going to win the war. "You know the reason Hoth is so cold actually has nothing to do with its distance from the sun. You see, Normie, Hoth isn't a planet per se but....." -
Both. And I can't blame him. I can't believe people are dumb enough to shell out $2000 for a PS3 on eBay in order to get one in time for Christmas. There really aren't any amazing games for it when it launches. It'll be a great system to have in a year when there are a ton of games available but not so much now.
-
The only real difference between the XBOX 360 and PS3 is that the PS3 also plays blu-ray DVDs (and therefore costs way more) and has more hype. They're going to have a lot of the same games and the graphics will be almost identical. Also, now that all video games are sold as discs (not cartridges), it seems unlikely that there will ever be a time when a hit game sells out and you just can't get one. It's much easier to manufacture the discs. The old days when you couldn't get your hands on Super Mario Bros 2 and 3 when they came out are long gone.

Yeah, well, screw you! Military bad! Yeah, but are we really supposed to care about "students"? It's not like schools exist for "students". The military is bad no matter what it does. San Francisco needs you to know that.
