My avatar would be the best part of anyone's posts. My favorite part about my posts (aside from Mandy) is that I try to be as honest as I can, which includes not lowering the standards for Willis because I'm white and he's black.

The announcers said it was a bad spot initially (and I thought so too) and then they showed the replay and it turned out the spot was accurate. And I really don't care for the announcers anyway.

He definitely reached forward after his knee was down. I guess that's good. You're going to reach forward whether it's third or fourth down. I don't know what he knew. He says stupid things and then his explanation for saying something stupid is just as stupid as his initial stupid quote. It's completely plausible he didn't know what down it was. If you're stupid enough to say you didn't know what down it was, you're stupid enough to not know what down it was.
-
Know what down it is. In fact, go ahead and pay attention to everything that is happening in the game.
-
Right, that makes perfect sense. I'm sure reporters are just going to leave you alone when you say something like that. Holy crap.

My sign: WILLIS!!!! PAY ATTENTION!!!!!

The banana slug has been painted on center ice. The Horror I'm not 100% sure that's a real picture, but it looks like crap if it is. The slug is ramming his head into the word SABRES. Ugh.

The Patriots "end" has been "near" every season since their first SB win. Pretty tired of waiting for it.

If it's fourth and 1 I think I'll go with A-Train this Sunday. He's the bigger back. I don't want to worry Willis with what down it is or how far he has to go. Let him spend fourth down playing Sony PSP on the bench.

(ot) stupid mac commercials

WHAT? Commercials are misleading?? Gah! Well, I guess that explains why that silver train and all those hot chicks didn't show up the last time I opened a can of Coors Light. -

Because he sounds like a moron. Sorry, the truth hurts. I'm not grading him on a curve. Why not? Athletes about to enter the draft get that type of insurance routinely. And, like I said, you do not have to be a moron every second of every day to be a moron. Wow, excellent point. He must be real smart if I wouldn't want to pick a fight with him. I can't believe you even tried this line of reasoning. What are you making him out to be? Are we supposed to call him smart because he got insurace? Are we supposed to call him smart because we wouldn't want to pick a fight with him? I'm just being honest. I don't want to think "Well, he sounds like a complete douche bag every time he opens his mouth but he's from the hood so I guess he's not so bad." Give me a break. -

Have you noticed that with all the parity in the NFL these days, it's the smart teams that end up winning those Super Bowl thingies? Did you notice that the team that beat the Bills yesterday (and last year and every year) did it by being smarter than them? -
I'd always want McGee taking the ball back. Every time he has it, there's the opportunity for a TD, even if the price is occasionally the Bills are stuck behind the 20 for a drive start. As for the play itself. Channel 7 showed the replay in slow motion last night and even then more than one Patriot was all over JP very quickly. He didn't have a chance.

Where he grew up doesn't matter. I know a lot of white middle class suburbia folks who are completely clueless. Intelligent people can come from bad situations. And it's definitely not a white or black thing. Every time I hear Terrence McGee talk, I'm extremely proud that he's on my team. Every time I've ever heard McGahee speak, I've cringed and basically had to remind myself that he's very gifted physically. I'm not about to grade McGahee on a curve because he's black because that's probably the most racist thing I could do. Probably because those policies are common for players in his situation. Of course he got a policy! Who wouldn't? Top 5 draft picks are looking at a lot of money. Are we sure it was even his idea? And even if it was, you don't have to be stupid 100% of the time to be stupid. Look, I'd like to like him. I want to like him. But I'd be lying if I said I had a ton of confidence in him. Instead of being upset that he didn't get the first down on 4 and 1, he just shrugged and admitted he didn't even know what down it was. That's incredible! And this after three years of offering basically no insight on football in interviews. Every time the Bills draft someone I want to like them. McGahee, since 2003, has never said anything that makes me like him. -
I think JP would have except the concept of the player getting the ball on the most important play of the game and having no idea what was going on never crossed his mind. I seriously can't even begin to understand an NFL player not knowing what down it is. Especially when they're about to get the ball.

has anyone brought up drew's performance
SilverNRed replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah, he can't tell the difference between the two quarterbacks. Zero interceptions. Three interceptions. What's the difference? -

You mean "tools" like being a gifted enough athlete to be a star college and NFL player? Yes, what a miracle he made it this far in life. Yes, he's stupid. -

Is Willis McGahee the best RB on this team? Yes. Do I feel anything good about Willis McGahee as a Bill? Maybe not. He's definitely a stupid person; there's no way around that. And watching the Pats beat us every year by being the smarter team, I'm not thrilled about pinning my hopes on a moron to lead the way. -
Honestly, ever since hearing him say he didn't know what down it was, the main thing I've been thinking WRT to McGahee is how we should replace him. He's stupid. And I'm really not sure you can win championships in the NFL anymore without smart players. (Thanks again to Tom Donahoe for the great draft picks. It's going to take years to fix the damage.)

willis didn't get the first?
SilverNRed replied to HudsonValleyBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The ball is spotted where it was when his knee goes down (i.e. where it is when he's down). He didn't get the first down. -
You could argue that running back is the position in football that absolutely requires the least intelligence. It's all instinct and reacting. Everyone on defense has to read the plays. The O-line has to pick up the blitz. Recievers and TE's have to run routes. The QB has to do everything.

After years of McGahee interviews that make no sense and now the news that McGahee has no idea what down it is during football games that he is participating in, I've come to the conclusion that Willis is less responsible and intelligent than my five year old nephew. Here's a hypothetical scenario. If I had to trust one of them for an hour with a winning lottery ticket, I'd pick my nephew hands down. I'd say "Evan, this is a real important piece of paper. I want you to just put it in your pocket and give it back to me in an hour. If you do a good job with this, we'll go to McDonald's when I get back." Then Evan would put the ticket in his pocket and go into his backyard and capture a frog or something (possibly shoot his sister with a Nerf gun). On the other hand, with Willis I'd say: "Listen, Willis, this is a winning lottery ticket. It is very important that you hold onto it, don't lose it, and give it back to me in an hour. Remember, this is a winning ticket. Don't lose it, just put it in your pocket." One hour later, my nephew would still have the ticket in his pocket and possibly a small frog to show me. Willis, meanwhile, would have lost this ticket or given it to one of his baby mamas or used it to roll and smoke a joint. And his explanation would be: "Awwwwww, man, I ain't know dat was no winning lotto ticket man. I was just you know, man, I don't know." ----- In any event, yesterday's game has forced me to actually wonder if Willis McGahee (despite all his athletic talents) is just too stupid to be a great running back in the NFL. The Patriots win because they have smart players who don't take idiotic penalties all game long. I'm not sure how the Bills are supposed to win a Super Bowl with a running back who is one shade above a retard.

He's exactly the type of player I don't want to cheer for. He's stupid and he doesn't seem to care.

Amen.

Fine, then based on evaluating both Bledsoe and Losman on what I saw them do, I can tell you Losman played much better today than Bledsoe did for the Bills. Losman can't make the line better or the running backs better or the receivers better or the entire team smarter, but he did play some good quarterback today. I can't be any more clear than that. Seeing what Losman did on a play by play basis today, I can tell you he did a good job. Take your "8 net points" crap somewhere else. One player can't determine how many "net points" the offense generates. I guess Brady sucks because he only had "10 net points"? Seriously, if you even watched the game, you'd know that "8 net points" doesn't come even close to telling the story of the game and especially what Losman did today.
