Is it time to sever all ties to TD era by
SilverNRed replied to oregonbbfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You could read this board for 30 seconds and see that the uniforms are not "all" the fans care about. But uniforms are important. The rest of the country (and even the world) knows nothing about our area except our football and hockey teams. A city's sports logos are, for all intents and purposes, the city flags. I don't know anything about Portland but I can pick out a Trailblazers logo. And since people like connecting with where they're from, they want that connection to actually look good. And not to mention that with everything in pro sports changing constantly, uniforms can be the only source of stability. And all that said, giving your teams nice uniforms is easy compared to everything else. Finding a quarterback is hard. Building an offensive line is hard. Kicking a 47 yard field goal at the end of the Super Bowl is really hard. Finding clothes to wear that look good while doing all these things is pretty easy, especially when we already know exactly what those clothes are supposed to look like (we have pictures and video). The Bills need to ditch the navy blue jerseys with the red side panels. That's a late 90s Broncos look and it looks really cheesey and dated here in 2006. The throwbacks look amazing so just modify them and use them full-time. (I'd keep the charging buffalo on the helmet and put the standing buffalo on the jersey itself as a patch on the chest, similar to the Saints state of Louisiana patch.) -
Time Magazine's Top 100 Music Albums:

Anthologies? Collections? What a friggin' joke! It'd be nice if their top albums actually included some albums. -
The Last Good Season by Michael Shapiro is about the Brooklyn Dodgers last pennant in Brooklyn and how the team ended up leaving. It's definitely my favorite baseball book of all time and maybe my favorite book period. It covers a lot of the social changes in Brooklyn at the time too. It's a great read. Salem's Lot by Stephen King. I finally read this one earlier this year and it was incredible. Pick it up in paperback for a few bucks. The Pirate Hunter: The True Story of Captain Kidd and The Pirate Coast: Thomas Jefferson, the First Marines, and the Secret Mission of 1805 both by Richard Zacks were really cool reads as well. I'll think of more. I'm trying to come up with books that I really, really liked.

It's disappointing that we haven't managed to drag Lana into this thread yet. -
Seems like I see these every week

The most amazing part of the link is that the caption correctly states that he was throwing a pass on that play. I can't believe how many people were saying that was a fumble. -
Thanks for being so specific.

WTF do you base that on???
-
Says the guy who thinks we need to spend 2 games evaluating our third string QB. Yes, God forbid we let our young QB play an entire season under the same offense and see if that helps him develop.

So...during your homosexual Super Bowl parties, do you and your buddies use the nacho dip as nacho dip or as vaseline?

I hope they're right. I'm sick of living on a sphere. The world isn't a disc, but I'd love to know what science will say is true or false in about 100-200 years. People didn't even know what "vitamins" were until about 100 years ago.

Holy crap! Is there another video online of her funeral?? -
Which of his sacks was bad yesterday? The ball was snapped, he took a couple steps, and was drilled. No other QB is going to have success with this offense either. The line is weak and the receivers are bad. I think a really experienced QB would do better (not great) but we still wouldn't win a lot of games. Remember that JP is learning how to play in the NFL, learning a new offense this season, and playing with a bunch of guys who wouldn't start on most teams. And he's still doing OK, which is pretty much all you can ask for.
-
To be honest, I love that the team is both saying they're going to run the ball and actually doing it (for once). My problem is more with the actual plays that are called when we decide to pass. The occasional play-action call could really work for a team this focused on running.

The Bills will have to offer more money than other teams to land free agents, but so will every other team that currently sucks. Throw big money at one player, get him signed, and send a message that the team is about winning. I think Dick Jauron and Marv Levy have good enough reputations to attract players and will be able to make a sales pitch.
-
Retard, I wrote exactly why I thought JP has to play all 16 games. And yes I do think that JP will be a better QB next year if he plays 16 games this year instead of 14.
-
Yeah, because it's really important to spend 2 games evaluating our third string QB. Taking JP out eliminates any chance he'll ever develop into anything in this city. And why would we do that? Because we have a third string QB with 30+ career pass attempts who we think might be the savior but only if we give him 2-4 games to find out (in the same garbage offensive unit that can't get anything done)?
-
YES. Because pulling Losman as your QB during the season again means he'll never be the QB in Buffalo. The team isn't going to let him be the starter next season when (in this hypothetical) he's been the starting QB at the start of each of the last two seasons and lost the job. It is incredibly important that the team lets Losman start 16 games this season. It's the only way he'll ever develop into anything in this city. Sacrificing that for 2 cup-of-coffee games for Nall isn't worth it. Two games for Nall gives us nothing. 16 games for Losman develops a QB. 14 games for Losman runs him out of town.

This dude is really smart. I wish he posted here.
-
Why not "unleash" him by designing a play or two each half that actually makes use of his abilities. He's not a pocket passer. I understand limiting his responsibilities so he can learn but I think he would benefit even more if he had a chance to really help the team. Let him run. Let him roll out.

Indecision by the coaches is killing us
SilverNRed replied to HudsonValleyBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Is it even possible that what happened yesterday was because the Colts have great pass defense and horrible run defense? If you look at our strategy yesterday, what we did was execute a game plan that was literally the only way our team of scrubs could ever beat the Colts. And it almost worked. -
Why? If we start Losman for 14 games and Nall for 2, the end result is that we still won't know about either quarterback. Is there any scenario where Nall could play the last two games of the season and somehow eliminate all our concerns about the quarterback position? Is anyone really going to say they're ready to make Nall the starter for next season after two games this season?
