Bernard is pretty darn good against anyone but Derrick Henry and Lamar Jackson.

I still don't believe he'll ever be a star or worth the 1st round pick we spent on him but it's clear he's a talented player who was banged up almost all year last year. I see a path to where he is a very very good tight end in the NFL. He also knows he's playing for that 5th year option and/or an extension eventually.

There are some similarities between the two teams but I also think it's overblown. Nobody else in the NFL is Derrick Henry in terms of his size, speed, and ability. He forces defenses to do different things even more so than Lamar does. The key is to get ahead early and make Fields throw the ball. If you do that, this one will be over early.

I think the defensive line is going to be good. I also think the linebackers are a good matchup for every team except Baltimore. The CB's will be better with better health. The safeties are going to be a concern but I'm hopeful more reps helps Bishop. Rapp is slow but he can make enough plays. I want Hancock and Jackson to earn weekly jerseys ASAP.

I'm going to tell myself that it was a bad defensive gameplan against a great unique opponent. But it's very possible that the safeties are really this bad and that the linebackers are still undersize who are geared more towards the big play and not that regular play. I actually though the defensive line was okay other than some contain issues which they did get better at as the game went on. It was one game but I think you can talk me into Landon Jackson over Epenesa next week.

That was 52 minutes of pathetic defense against a unicorn elite offense but somehow they got it done. We will be better the next time we play them.

I noticed one or two times he was a willing tackler unlike some others. But in general they didn't really test him because they didn't need to.

It doesn't matter if it's September or January, you have to protect home field. Plus the tiebreaker is key for the season. Gotta win baby
