Never If he did on the street what he does to other men on the field, he would be arrested. He has genuine problems he can’t control. So, very seriously, no -
Yeah, I like to see PSU do well as long as it isn’t against us. I hear you, if you guys had a solid passing game, watch out. Last good one was Trace McSorley. Not sure why PSU can’t get it together in that department. The D is always good and your running backs are awesome. it must be really frustrating.

His performance, especially contrasted to Julian Sayin’s first start, looked extra not great.
-
Yes, I was particularly impressed with Sayin’s decision making. The only truly sub-optimal choice I saw him make (beyond not seeing some open guys) was to throw the ball away and stop the clock near the end of the game, as opposed to tucking and running and keeping the clock running. The fact that he made such great decisions in his first start on that stage bodes VERY well.

Hartline was calling the plays. But I agree. I sit there watching the game saying “don’t try to run it up the middle right now” and then that’s exactly what they do for no gain. Exasperating. They won the championship last years, so okay, but I HATE when the force play calls for the sake of “identity” or whatever instead of doing the same things over and over again that the defense is UNABLE TO STOP. This is an ongoing issue under Day. GO WITH THE FLOW OF THE GAME. I respect him but this drives me nuts. Weirdly stubborn.

Right. I’m not trying to throw shade, but as of right now he looks like a “developmental player with potential.”
-
And yet it all comes down to the ball being in his hands with a chance to tie/win. Here we go… 4th and 5… No FIRST!! Buckeye Ball!!
-
Odd, but he’s mainly been a running QB so far. Kind of surprising considering the hype.
-
Absolutely! Really enjoying how Patricia is calling the game.

I get both sides of the argument. I don’t really care that he played at UB. I was more excited about his production and game tape. That he was in the Bills backyard is just a coincidence. Pre-draft I thought he was worth a 4-5th round pick based on my assessment of him. I believe/d he has great upside. Reality will be the judge. Let’s see.
-
I couldn’t believe the guy didn’t get a combine invite with his production and solid athleticism. I was hoping we’d spend a 6 or 7th rounder on him, especially given the injuries we’ve had at the position. That said, I hope Ciarlo clears waivers and gets on the practice squad. That’s a fun story to follow.

This is what makes Caleb Downs (Ohio State) such an amazing player is that he basically does everything at such a plus level. I’m probably most impressed at how he almost NEVER misses a tackle in space on anyone. Can’t wait to see how he does in the pros. Baring disaster for our season or his health, we have no chance at him, but what a perfect fit.

McDermott - "Still looking for that other safety"

Sign Simmons. Groom Hancock behind him. Cut Hamlin. Allow Cole Bishop to play out his rookie contract (didn’t like him coming out and not surprised at his lack of success thus far. Hope things change.) PS I liked Hancock more than Bishop as draftable players. -
Cam Little Nails 70-Yard Field Goal

Him and who else? If you care to see for yourself, look at all of the kickers selected first as far back as you’d like to go. Look at their career stats and then compare them with kickers who played in the league more than a couple of seasons. You’ll be surprised. Their stats are worse. I looked into this because I shared the OP’s view because it seemed to “make sense” and was surprised to find out the stats don’t agree. This is literally why teams don’t follow this strategy despite how critical the position of kicker really is. -

Surprisingly, being the top picked kicker in the draft doesn’t correlate to success. Many of the most successful have been undrafted. That’s why teams don’t deploy this strategy. -
Nah… at this rate injuries to other players will force him into action. Don’t worry!

Good points. I hope Davis can be that player. He does have good power. I’m looking forward to seeing him this season with a year of NFL level training under his belt. I forgot about Chubb. When he was released I hoped we would sign him but knew we wouldn’t because we already have those spots filled on the roster. In the next draft I’m not convinced we should spend a high pick on a running back (and almost certainly won’t) but hypothetically it would be a lot of fun to have Kaleb Johnson, RB, Iowa on the roster. I guess I’m getting old - I miss those power run games! Power running, great D, perfect special teams, pass when you must… haha
-
This passing league is fun - especially having Allen. But man, I sure enjoyed watching those running game of old with guys like Jerome Bettis and Jamal Lewis where the D knew what was coming but couldn’t stop it. Made protecting leads in the 4th a bit easier too. In a dream world, the Bills would also have big power back to help grind the D down. Paired with Allen, that would be incredible. Not too many guys like that just lying around these days. Now they play other positions.

Training Camp 8/1 - Return of the Blue and Red
NORWOODS FOOT replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
I liked him coming out of college - compact / explosive player. He’s been running in sand with the QBs he has had. If he makes the team and gets significant snaps with Allen as his QB, I think this will be a far better measure of who he can be as a player in this league. Looking forward to finding out.
