I think Rasul would be doing the Bills a favor if he suited up 17 games for the Fins next year. he allowed a 122 passer rating last year when targeted. Poyer with the Dolphins only allowed 111, for comparison sake.

The Bills once tried to trade for a dude who slept with another guys wife. They also signed a notorious pest in Incognito who was playing with a divisional rival. Wilkins is an irritant, but I think these guys are pretty good at understanding and compartmentalization between the lines.

Bengals bungling things up - new rookie contract clause
RoscoeParrish replied to The Wiz's topic in The Stadium Wall
He didn’t really get “more” money, he just got more money upfront. all that hubub for an extra $500k in the signing bonus -
@Kirby Jackson you are basically arguing that in 2021 Stafford wasn’t more viewed as more valuable than Jared Goff despite the Rams needing to attach multiple picks, including 2 first rounders, to swap them. If you compare their numbers, they were similar! The Rams were ascending and a playoff team! This is so painfully obvious a blind spot for you my man.
-
They obviously were. Darnold was a way better prospect coming out than Fields. Like way way way better. That’s why, imo, he still fetched a decent price as a trade target whereas Fields was traded for a conditional sixth rounder lol. Thats Kaiir Elam bust compensation. No one is arguing that Darnold vastly outperformed Fields at their rookie stops. You can post their stats all you want. NFL teams saw Darnold and said, “we’ll give you a second rounder and a couple day 3 picks for him” and NFL teams saw Fields and said “we’ll give you a conditional sixth round pick for him and then bench him in 6 weeks and let him walk in FA” lol. The market has spoken. Darnold was valued at a second round pick+ and Fields was valued as a 6th round pick. That’s it. Case closed.

Training camp day 3 st john fisher college

This is almost certainly NOT going to happen lol. Josh will just play. That’s the point. We could have given him a theoretical break with a broken hand week 1. He played every game man. -

QB2 outside of helping Josh in the film room isn’t a position I think about for a second. If we need our backup to win games to make the playoffs, we aren’t a Super Bowl team one way or another. -
Well I’m sure trade compensation doesn’t matter to you because it basically proves Fields was next to worthless compared to Darnold at the same stage. Both players had failed on their rookie deals. Both teams were OBVIOUSLY moving on in the draft with top 2 picks. One was traded for a second, 4th and 6th. The other was traded for a 6th round pick that could be a fourth. I don’t know how to explain this any other way than the player who commanded a much higher trade package was perceived as a much more valuable player around the league at a similar spot. It’s really inarguable. The edge OBVIOUSLY goes to player worth a high day 2 pick + day 3 picks than a dude worth a conditional day 3 pick. I strongly suspect you argued pre-Fields trade that he was DEFINITELY going to get around the Sam Darnold package.

this take doesn’t make sense. Everybody knew the Jets were drafting a QB when they were trading Darnold dude. They had the #2 pick in the 2021 class. He was still worth a second rounder plus two day 3 picks I think. I respect you admitting that you have a soft spot for Fields but these takes sound biased as hell.

I would take Christian Wilkins rehabbing a foot yesterday. Unfortunately, when stories like this come out, it wouldn’t be surprising to find out he has lost his desire to play football.

Lockett, Thielen and Nico I will agree with; the rest I do not. Aiyuk has 800 yards in year 2. London had 900 yards in year 2. If we get that kind of production out of Coleman, that’s awesome. I don’t think that’s an unrealistic expectation. I don’t think you take a WR with your first pick in a WR heavy draft and don’t expect 800-900 yards with a HoF QB within a season or two, especially when you are in the middle of your SB window.

How many of those are scramble plays for Josh? that’s a little different that drops in the bucket. i watch a lot of NFL too. I think Josh historically hasn’t had elite touch on deep passes. I also think the 2024 offense had basically zero players to take advantage of touch deep passes so it was rendered kind of moot. Based on watching along with that grade, probably the two best on deeper touch passes in the NFL are Geno and Russ. They have great moon balls.

Baker was great year 1, was pretty high in rookie passing records and was second in OROY voting. Not sure that’s the greatest piece of evidence. as a corollary, the last great WR who wasn’t great within their first two seasons was Davante Adams who was drafted 11 years ago. That’s a long time ago in the NFL. And the QB comparison is also kind of a stretch. We just saw two GREAT rookie seasons back to back in Stroud and Daniels. Thats nothing old or new. Sometimes QBs are good instantly and sustain it. Sometimes QBs take some time to develop. Sometimes QBs are good to start and then turn out to suck. It’s objectively best for a football team to have option #1. Just like it’s objectively best to have a WR play very well from the jump and sustain it. Ultimately, we have a team ready to win a Super Bowl now. Of course there’s going to be impatience. I bet Beane and co all wish Keon explodes on the scene this year, not 2 years from now. There’s nothing wrong with that.

Beane is good at drafting after all -- A look at 2022
RoscoeParrish replied to boater's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think its largely the opposite. Mostly good position coaches ever get promoted to coordinator. And a lot of times, good coordinators get HC looks. Getting a chance or two at a different promotion is probably a strong indicator you are pretty good in your previous role. -
They had the 1st pick twice, and the first time they punted on QB to get more weapons to help Fields succeed. He was also the starter on a season where they were bad enough to get the 1st overall pick. I’m sorry he got hurt and I wish him the best, but he’s had plenty of chances. Russ was a vet minimum guy who got hurt early and basically gave him the starting job in Pitt. He had two different staffs and like 3 or 4 OCs in Chicago. I have always said, the path for Fields’ relative success in the NFL was to hire Greg Roman as their OC and run the ball to 3500 total yards with like 800 rushing and 25 total TDs. He needs an OC who is going to get creative on the ground because he’s never going to captain a competent passing offense. He’s closer to Tyrod Taylor ceiling than anything else.

Contested catch ability at the NFL is a bonus ability. Who was the last GREAT contested catch guy who made a living off that? I can’t think of one. I still have high hopes for Keon, but I never thought that was his pathway to NFL success. Your bread and butter can’t be a 50-50 ball so to speak.
-
Yeah, a lot of good or great punt returners weren’t necessarily burners.

I realize there’s a little bit of irony in me complaining about complaining, but there’s like 10x as many posts complaining about over reactions than actual over reactions from day 1 of camp. i stand by what i said. I would rather read what people say who are actually watching camp, even if a minuscule of them have an agenda, than read 100 people complain about it. Just my 2 cents.
