  1. The Athletic is struggling and needs its reporters to constantly advertise, advertise, advertise. They burned through $95M in 2019 and 2020 and they lost over $50M in 2021. The NY Times had to bail them out in 2022, but they're still losing money (they were $20M in the red as of the second quarter of this year). That has turned many reporters, including Joe B, into clickbait monsters. Go to his Twitter page and you will see him post the same mundane article 3, 4, 5 times in an effort to get people to click it. Its clear that The Athletic and NYT are pushing their reporters to be advertisers. And that's never good IMO. I wouldn't say he is a "has been", but his stuff was significantly better (again, in my opinion) prior to his days at The Athletic. And its hard not to laugh when the same people who disparage PFF, tout Joe B's breakdowns. Because, yeah, i'm sure the former radio telephone operator has a more nuanced view of the game than former players, coaches, and scouts who work for PFF.
  2. I choose not to participate in the sore loser cheating stuff.
  3. A bit of context is needed here... Pederson won a Super Bowl with a BACKUP QUARTERBACK, then went 9-7 with a backup QB (because Wentz can't stay healthy). And he went 4-11 in a season where 4 of his 5 offensive linemen went to IR, their secondary was decimated (sound familiar?) and they let numerous players go in free agency (Howie was already starting the rebuild). Doug Peterson had 3 winning seasons and a Lombardi Trophy with Carson Wentz and Nick Foles as his QB's. That alone is incredible. McDermott on the other hand has always had Allen under center since 2019.
  4. I do admit I miss the days where we had true rivalries and teams couldn't stand each other. Remember Cox flipping off our fans heading into (out of?) the tunnel?
  5. I don't agree. If I did my maths properly, Belichick is 100-41 (70.9 win %) against the AFC East and 189-76 (71.3 win %) against the rest of the NFL (including the postseason). He dominated everyone, and he dominated teams outside the AFC East moreso than the teams inside it.
  6. People have made this argument for a long time but Brady signed at least his first contract extension before marrying Giselle. Brady just cared more about winning than he did being the richest player. Gotta admire that. Yep. Brady was incredibly generous to the Patriots. It would be awesome if Allen did the same, but again, I don't blame him.
  7. I don't blame Allen for taking the money he could get, but it would have been great if he didn't. Brady never received more than $19M per year with the Patriots and most years were around $15M. Allen got $46M last year, and he averages $35M per year over the next 4 years. Brady allowed the Patriots to have a ton more money to work with.
  8. I was moreso talking about Belichick. I don't take exceptions to the rule (Walsh) to be the rule. I also don't give Walsh incredible recognition for drafting Montana. If he thought he was going to be an all-time great, he wouldn't have waited until the 3rd round. He got lucky. Like the Patriots did with Brady.
  9. Depends if those SB's came from the drafting prowess of those 2 people, or not. In this case, they do not.
  10. Seymour and Branch were drafted before Belichick came GM. But even including them, having 7 above average draft picks in over 20 years of trying is a bad track record. Honestly his bad decisions to back even during the Super Bowl years. Brady just masked those issues. https://syndication.bleacherreport.com/amp/2215296-bill-belichicks-failure-as-gm-leaves-patriots-with-uncertain-future.amp.html
  11. This is also what Belichick does, and he has been an awful drafter.
  12. Yeah if we are taking a punchers chance at a player maker, I’d want Fowler over Rice. His comp is Tyreek Hill.
  13. I agree. The problem is - are there many teams who covet a player highly enough in that 25-31 spot. Things can change between now and draft day, but at the moment I just don’t see many players projected in that spot to draw much trade interest.
  14. Me neither. It’s no-man’s-land.
  15. Rice in the first would totally depress me. Seems like a Beane pick though. It’s like Elam but on offense.
  16. Okay guess I was confused because you quoted my comment on the golf match.
  17. What does this have to do with a golf match? You said it’s Mahomes and Burrow in this years golf match…
  18. Youre arguing over one $4M player as if it changes anything. Take that away if you want and you still have a reasonably cost o-line and not much more than Von would have cost if Beane structure them properly like he always does. You’re just one of those people who can’t ever admit they’re wrong. No point in discussing further. Feel free to have the last word - I won’t respond.
  19. Where did they announce this? Guess I missed it.
  20. I don’t see Allen as an after thought at all. He was many reporters 1st overall QB entering the season. He was the MVP favorite. We got numerous prime time games because of him. He has a national commercial (gillette). He is playing at Pebble Beach and was in the celebrity golf match with Brady, Rodgers and Mahomes last season.
  21. It’s kinda like Acing the homework but then failing the test. But then getting an A for the course because you did well on the homework. Id love for them to pass the postseason test at some point.
  22. What award do we get for that? The regular season accolades are getting old when the defense is abused in the playoffs year after year.
  23. I have a very good friend who is a Panthers fans. He told me the same thing. Frazier and McD are very alike in the way they run their defense and firing Frazier likely does little to change anything.
  24. While we cant say for sure, that regular season Bengals game was starting like the playoff blowout. I have a hard time believing we win that regular season game even if Hamlin didn't go down.
