No offense, but in what universe was this? Boldin never got consistent separation in his career. He just bodied DB's and won 50/50 balls while being blanketed. Look at his highlight reel and you will see 90% of receptions occurred when the DB is right on him and he just makes a great catch. That's what Coleman will likely have to do.

He definitely needs more time, that’s for sure. But thats also the concerning part. The kid has played football for almost a decade - including 3 years of college football and college coaching. How much longer does he need to know that running routes in football is not the same as finding leverage in basketball? Goodness - how much more time does he need to know that stopping your slant route and finding leverage isn’t even a thing!? We as fans tend to make excuses for our guys. If this was a player on another team, we would not be as forgiving in our criticism.

Hamlin wasn’t a starter in KC. Thats the concerning part to me. There is only 2 options here: 1) Beane signed a S that is so bad that he is worse than Hamlin, who may be the worst starting S i’ve ever seen. or 2) Edward’s is in the dog house

I almost made a thread about this because it upset me so much. There are a few things each game that Keon does that simply makes no sense. And that one took the cake. How do you think Allen is going to throw you the ball if your definition of finding space in the zone is stopping your route and standing BEHIND the defender? Is Allen supposed to throw the ball through the defender to get to you? All you did is effectively remove yourself as an option for him, making his life more difficult. They’re in zone. Find the nice soft spot a couple yards behind the defender… not 1 inch behind the defender.

Cardinals (schematically) played it perfectly and their plan would have worked for us. The Cardinals flushed Rodgers 14 yards behind the line of scrimmage due to the blitz and he barely got the ball off while falling backwards and throwing on one leg. Because of the blitz, the Packers had to keep 7 blockers in (Jets only had to keep 5). In our game, this would have meant that Rodgers would have been throwing from his own 33 yard line… a nearly 70 yard throw while falling backwards… and his receivers would have had to run 52 yards in 4-5 seconds.

I don’t envy the hard decision Beane has to make of whether to keep Rousseou or let him go. You could make a convincing argument for either direction.

Like: ”Coach, what did it mean for you to see XYZ player have a breakthrough game and really take leadership of the unit? Can you speak to how happy and proud you are?” Just brutal.

Some of this is the defense we run. We hardly ever play press man (which KC does a ton), and we hardly ever clog the short range stuff. When run properly, press man and clogging the short takes away all the quick hitters for a QB and results in more sacks. But played poorly, it results in long touchdowns. It’s honestly quite hard to consistently get sacks with the defense we run because, theoretically, someone should always be open. We just bank on the QB not finding them by disguising coverage pre-snap. We take away the deep and let teams try to dink all the way down the field and assume they’ll mess up at some point.

I respect the way you’re thinking, but the move was a no-brainer. I have no idea why, but there was bad blood between Diggs and Allen and it was not doing this team any favors. Their cold reunion after the Texans game should have re-affirmed it for everyone. Especially with Diggs giving Allen the side-eye after they shook hands after the game.

I don’t mind defending the sidelines. I like it even. But why with DE’s? With CB’s, you can protect the sideline and then when it’s obvious it’s a hail mary, rush down field.

Horrendous. I’ve said it before (after hail-murray) but i’ll say it again: Blitz on hail mary’s! The receivers have to run 50 yards downfield. That takes at least 5 seconds. I don’t care how bad your pass rushers are - you will get to the QB by 5 seconds.

This is my dream. I would LOVE to trade for Pickens. He and Allen would make magic.
