  1. For what it is worth, I was watching NFL Live this afternoon and they were doing one of today's frequent Patriots/Brady ball washing sessions. Merril Hoge was making a point about how Brady and the Pats did such a great job of selling run fakes to open up the passing game, with the OL even "firing off the ball" to simulate run. The clip he showed had the center 5 yards down field blocking when the pass was thrown, while the LG was 2 to 3 yards downfield engaged in a block. I guess that is "firing off the ball", but the only problem is that is supposed to be a penalty I believe. Guess its easier to "sell the run" when your OL is engaging blitzing LBs 3-5 yards past the line of scrimmage. Am I mistaken about this being a penalty, or is it just not a penalty for the Patriots?
  2. I do not read his columns because they are typically worthless and I think he is a childish turd. Happy to pile on the Sully bashing when I can though. You are right about being OK to question Wood's performance, but Sullivan does not add anything to the discussion. There are clearly many posters here who are more capable of evaluating OL play than he is, and I would rather hear from them. Wood was right to call him out as the coward he is.
  3. It is and you should do that.
  4. Cleveland came back from 25 down on the road to win yesterday against the Titans. This will be an emotional and tough game. (Unless of course Hoyer gets hurt and they have to play JFF) I agree that the Bills are capable of winning any of these games, but lots can happen over the course of seven weeks.
  5. I read multiple posts on this site last week that referred to the Bills as a "dumpster fire", "incompetent", and "dysfunctional" among like terms. Clearly, the Jets are the very definition of these terms. What a terrible team, with terrible leadership. Rex deserves to go, but their front office is completely incompetent.
  6. Agreed. Also, after listening to both Orton's and Watkin's post game PCs, clearly an issue in the accuracy of it was the quick rush in his face. What is very promising is that they were on the same page that the ball would be going his way. Watkins was expecting the throw and was able to adjust. There is no way that play gets made with EJ right now. I also think that as Watkins and Orton are able to work with other going forward, the accuracy on a play like that will get better as well.
  7. Ebron's unreliable hands were also on display. He has been a non-factor so far this year. I do like Benjamin and he would have been my pick if they stayed at 9, but Watkins looks to be a very special player.
  8. I agree. Bradford has been spotty when he has been healthy, and betting on his ability to stay healthy would be a big risk.
  9. I think this trade is looking better all the time. It is obviously a high price to pay, but I think Watkins is showing he is a unique talent. Moving up to take him will pay dividends for the Bills for a long time.
  10. The title tricked me into reading this useless post. Back to enjoying a win based on dominating defense, timely offense, and superior depth of talent across the board by the Bills.
  11. Let's hope so. A Cutler like performance would certainly help.
  12. The secondary is going to have to play better than they have so far. They have been beaten deep and Stafford has a cannon for an arm. Possibly a break if Johnson is not fully himself. If they can keep the Detroit receivers in front of them and avoid the bombs, they have a good chance of staying with the Lions and winning the game. No fast scores - make them earn it.
  13. I was going to say the same thing.
  14. I would have liked to see Fitz stay, but remember, they did offer him a reduced contract to stay and he said no, ultimately playing for TN for the same reduced money. I understand where Fitz was coming from, but do not fault the Bills for not wanting to pay $7.5 m to Fitz either. In retrospect, perhaps they should have, but it seemed prudent to me at the time. As for Williams, I think he is a better option than Johnson, but I am at a loss to explain why he is sitting on the bench. Frankly, I think their best alignment would be with Williams on the outside and Woods in the slot as a base offense. Not sure why they are reluctant to do this. Lack of confidence in the QB? Perhaps.
  15. It is entirely possible the Bills win all 4 of this games. The toughest one will be Detroit this week. I am very confident about the NE game and the Jets game. MN is a question mark to me but that game is also certainly winnable. My guess is they win 3/4. If they beat NE, they will control the Division at the halfway point. Elsewhere - the Jests lose 3 in a row coming into the Bills game. NE loses to Cinci and Buffalo. Miami loses 2 of next 3.
  16. Really? They are not on the Jerry Springer show, they are part of a professional football team. What I want is for them to win. For that they need to develop team chemistry including trust for one another. It is the essence of a team sport. I could not care less what they really think, so long as they win.
  17. I clicked on this today and was half through it before I realized it was Sullivan. I normally do not read his stuff at all anymore. He actually kept the snide, whiney crap that he passes off as intelligent comment to a minimum and made a couple of good points.
  18. Very impressive. this is obviously not his first rodeo. I m looking forward to seeing what he's got on Sunday. The veteran presence in the huddle and on the filed should help a lot.
  19. Great job. The truth is finally out.
  20. Exactly. Hacks like Rodak live for this. Throwing a teammate under the bus is not very professional. Perhaps some of the veterans will coach these guys up. They don't seem to realize EJ is one play away from being back under center.
  21. Sounds about right unfortunately. It would be a major upset if the Bills beat the Lions at this point, and a huge unknown as to what they will get with the QB change.
  22. None. For the same reason that should be all too obvious to the Rams right now.
  23. Great analysis Cat. I do not see anything wrong with the offensive design myself. It has been very poorly executed, particularly at the QB position. While watching the KC/NE game I was struck by how similar the two offensive systems are. The difference? Alex Smith has been very accurate and executing the design nearly flawlessly. The talent on the two teams on offense is similar (Buffalo's receivers are actually better overall I think) but Smith is putting the ball on the receivers hands and allowing them to make plays. What a concept. If Orton can play to Smith's level, and Smith will never be confused with Peyton Manning, the Bills will be very hard to beat. I guess we will see come Sunday.
  24. The answer is they will tell us when they are good and ready. If they will be out, no sense in giving Detroit's coaches any more time to prepare than absolutely necessary.
  25. I suspect we are in the minority but I agree with you. Manuel was always going to be a project and it is a shame there was no viable veteran behind him at the start, and also a shame he lost so much of last year. That said, the Bills are good enough to win now with even average QB play and I support the decision to play Orton if the coaches believe he can give them some consistency at the QB position. I think EJ will be back and am also rooting for him to overcome this setback.
