  1. It is possible they contacted Jones and others who had no interest in visiting or talking with the Bills.
  2. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the Bills defensive line. Quite simply, one of the best in the league. They do not need either of these players, but especially Allen.
  3. The SEC is a good college league but all the SEC stats in the world do not necessarily translate into NFL success. The Bills should not be wasting a draft pick in the top 5 rounds on a QB who projects as a career back up, best case. He is a winner, but it takes much more than that. (Tebow anyone?)
  4. Carrington was a marginal player who was beginning to show real promise at least as a good rotational player before his injury. (oops - should have taken that extension, Alex) Now he is a just a marginal player with injury concerns. I certainly do not blame him for shopping around. You never know if someone will overpay. I would certainly not blame the Bills if what they put on the table was a "show me" type of low ball contract, which is probably what he he is seeing elsewhere as well. I would not hate it if he were back on that kind of deal, but don't care if he leaves at this point either. He would be no lock to make the team.
  5. I do not believe that according to the CBA they can even negotiate with Dareus now. I believe there is a rule preventing negotiation of contract extensions for rookie deals until the final year, so not a priority now. I could be wrong about this, but that is my recollection. I agree it should be as soon as it is possible.
  6. I like this take. I am hoping the Bills have an opportunity to trade down. I am not sold on Evans, and I think they can get a very good tackle prospect in Round 2. I would love it if a trade down similar to last year were available. Benjamin and an Ot in the second would be a great draft.
  7. I am hoping for trade down as well. I. Think Evans at 9 is very risky. A trade down will still allow them to pick up an OT and WR with the first two picks, and have an extra second rounder to play with. If they do not trade down, OT would be the best bet.
  8. I think in a couple of years he may be as good as Thad Lewis.
  9. Agree. I do not understand the fascination people seem to have for wanting to get rid of our best players. ( yet cry all day about Byrd choosing to leave). We should be collecting playmakers not trading them.
  10. Parker screwed Carrington. He could have signed a long term extension with the Bills last year before his injury. Now he is damaged goods worth only a try before you buy type of contract. Too bad - the kid had potential.
  11. The only problem with that is Chandler has outperformed many of the TE's you have rated higher over the past few years. I am not sure I understand your criteria. Chandler is certainly not elite. He is average to above average. He lacks speed certainly. I would love for the Bills to have an elite TE, but compared to the other FA options this year once Graham and Pitta were locked up, I am fine with Chandler. Finley could be the exception, but he may or may not be healthy, and who knows if wanted to even leave GB. I would rather the Bills focus the draft on a potential #1 WR, OT, OG in that order, and resigning Chandler allows them to do that. As to TD production, do you think the QB position may have a bit to do with that?
  12. Smerlas has always been a buffoon. If that is Tim Graham's source of information, it just proves how biased and single minded in his relentless pursuit of all things negative regarding the Bills he is.
  13. Thats exactly right. I would think Johnson might have the best insight into how Spikes could be used, strengths and weaknesses, character, etc. I am willing to trust his educated opinion.
  14. I am not sure I see any difference between Pettigrew and Chandler.
  15. I think Mel might have finally inhaled too much hair tonic.
  16. They may still be looking at Inside LB candidates and I would expect some activity after June 1 for competition/depth as well, but any "big name" signings are not, and never were, in the cards. Hopefully they can find a diamond in the rough along the way similar to how Branch and Lawson worked out. (and hopefully the draft goes well!) None of this matters anyway unless EJ turns the corner.
  17. The AP report said 5 years with $30 mill gtd in the first three. The second report said an average of $7.5 m. There is no inconsistency. Byrd apparently liked the higher salary numbers in the back end plus the extra year, though in reality, he is unlikely to ever see it. That, plus he just did not want to be in Buffalo. Not sure why people cannot accept that.
  18. They will not get the comp pick for Talib given that they have signed Revis. You get comps for net losses based on the specific players gained lost.
  19. How much of that is guaranteed? I would say none. We do not know how much is incentives either. Depth at weak side LB. Maybe he outperforms and that would be great. If not, they can cut him. Not sure I see your point.
