  1. This is overall a very good take. I think McKelvin starts to open the season at least, but could certainly lose reps to Darby if the kid lives up to his promise, or if he gets injured. Richie is the right guard, and Miller the left. I think it will be a real battle between Henderson and Kuandjo for the RT spot. I am hoping EJ wins the job, but I am not confident he will.
  2. There is a good editorial in this morning's Washington Post discussing why Brady and the Pats** deserved the punishment they received. I think it is a fair assessment. http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/sports/wp/2015/05/10/tom-brady-patriots-can-blame-only-themselves-for-nfls-harsh-deflategate-punishments/ In part: "The suspension, which is justified, is not about how much of an illicit advantage the Patriots gained (probably not much), the behavior of the NFL (suspect at best) or the flaws within Ted Wells’s report (numerous). Poking those holes dances around the crucial issue: Brady flouted a rule, and then lied about it to the public and to investigators. The latter matters as much as the former."
  3. He is also the reporter that gutted Marrone when he was interviewing for the Jets.
  4. The NFL will rake away his hair gel for two weeks. Tommy is suicidal but survives.
  5. Hilarious. The Eagles are about to be the NFL's biggest train wreck, with Chipper in the conductor seat.
  6. Apparently many people, in and outside the Bills fan community, as we have been treated to a steady diet of "the Bills could have had OBJ by staying put". The two are not comparable. Watkins is the better player by far, but was hamstrung by the leagues worst OC and Kyle "checking out now" Orton.
  7. Although with what draft pick he does not say. Chances are, if they had taken with their third round choice, Mel would have derided them for "reaching", and for failing to pick up an OL. Post draft ratings, his in particular, are useless.
  8. Sounds pretty good to me. Solid competition for a very important position.
  9. A couple of points: 1. I am not sure what people did not understand about "best player available" but Whaley has been saying this for quite some time. No position selected should have been a surprise. 2. As far as DB is concerned, it is questionable whether they will be able to retain Gilmore after next year, McKelvin is also closer to the end than the beginning and expensive, and Graham is at the tail end of his career. Despite everyone's love of Robey, and I get it, he is not a starting CB in this league, not even a number 3. Cockerel is filler. Yes, the Bills need a good DB to groom. 3. I know nothing of this player, which I am certain is the same level of knowledge of virtually every other poster here. Excuse me, but I defer to the people who do this for a living. 4. Nor sure what people were expecting at pick 50 - hot sex? I think this does fill a need. We will see if he can play.
  10. He probably should not but QBs are routinely over-drafted, so I would be surprised if either Petty or Grayson were still available in the third round.
  11. Followed by the last two years the Skins have had? No thanks. The Skins are a long way from being Cometitive, muck less dominant. I would take the Bills current situation over theirs
  12. I am pretty sure there is plenty of cocaine and alcohol to be had in Buffalo.
  13. You could say that about every team. If Tom Brady goes down in week one, that Pats are more likely a 4 and 12 than the Bills with Manuel or Cassel at QB. The Bills are a more talented team across the board, except at QB where they are merely adequate. They won nine games last year with Orton/EJ and they have improved the coaching and offensive talent. This team does not win less than 9 games unless decimated by injuries. Less than 10 is a disappointment; 12 is possible.
  14. I think it's time for a "Why ESPN should fire Mike Rodak" thread.
  15. Great article - really loved the video. I hated Rex when he was with the Jets and now I love him. Like Thurman said, "you gotta win", but I am very confident. I cannot wait for this season to start. It is going to be fun.
  16. Agree with this. If there is any spot he could possibly take it would be Easley's, but Easley is younger, faster, and shown more grit as a gunner on ST. As for Wildcat, why? That fad has been over for a long time now. I would be pissed if they even signed him for a minimum try out contract. Complete waste.
  17. He actually did already answer the question. His head coach and position coach from last year are sold I would venture to say that weighs more heavily than either past experience or fan message board opinions
  18. Someone recently posted the PFF grades for our linemen over the past three years. ( sorry I can't find the post or the source material). It completely supported the point you are making. For players that were holdovers from Gailey's last year, there were precipitous drops in performance grades in each successive year under Marrone. There are certainly others factors that could be in play, but something was clearly amiss under Marrone with respect to coaching, position decisions, and scheme. I expect improvement from better coaching alone. Another factor to be considered is kuandjo in his second year. It is pretty clear he struggled making the transition to the NFL last year. He did not get much help it seems from the Bills coaches either. He is certainly not the first player to be overwhelmed in making the jump. The accounts of his offseason work and his descriptions of his approach and attitude one year to the next encourage me greatly that he will make a major jump in year 2. I would have liked to have Bulaga though ....
  19. The problem is cutting Williams saves them very little on the cap this year. He carries a cap hit of $3.35 m this year and a dead cap if cut of $3.125 m, according to Spotrac. Cutting Urbik does not save them much either. This assumes I am understanding the "dead cap" money issue correctly. If someone has a better understanding, please correct me. I think the Bills are out of significant free agent moves for now - very little cap room left after Clay. Their biggest potential savings is Fred Jackson, but nobody wants to go there it seems.
  20. I believe their priority targets for OL were Bulaga and Bolling, and when those efforts failed, they moved on to Harvin. I suspect they do not see any of the other current FAs as significant upgrades to what they have. It is possible something may happen after June 1 they might look at, but otherwise, they will probably draft one or two linemen and focus on what they have. They are really out of money right now without cuts, and probably do not see the available options as worth cutting Urbik, for example.
  21. One of the few, but that puts you in excellent "I told you so position" if it does not work out. Personally, I love it, but we are a long way from knowing if it pays off.
