Mt Rushmore of Buffalo coaches (Bills and Sabres)
Bob in STL replied to JetsFan20's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You make a great point. Imlach basically ran the whole hockey program, including coaching for awhile, with better results than Bowman or anyone else, he should be the first Sabre represented. Polian and Levy are in the Pro Football HOF - nuff said. Saban won 2 AFL Championships. Which are real championships. Ruff coached a lot of games won a bunch and got as close to the Cup as Imlach’s creation did. -
Mt Rushmore of Buffalo coaches (Bills and Sabres)

Wrong. He was the GM longer than than a coach. Punch’s team made the Cup finals in 5 years, Bowman never got there and Bowman started with a good team. Punch drafted and acquired the most and best talent in his tenure. Buffalo became a big hockey town instantly because of Punch’s ability to put a competitive product on the ice quickly. Bowman built off of Punches team. Punch started with nothing. Given this Punch should rank ahead of Bowman. If anything, Punch is the first one on the mountain. -

Punch over Bowman. Punch went from nothing to the Cup finals in five years by winning in the much tougher East Division. Punch built a deep team that Bowman leveraged off of. Punch drafted and traded for the more iconic players. . -

How do you see the right side of the OL?
Bob in STL replied to njbuff's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Refreshing response, especially for a Billy Shaw man. I watch the OL when at the games, but only sometimes because you pretty much have to follow the ball. On TV you get what they give you. Study film? None of us have access to the film that the teams get. Fans who “study film” are actually re-watching the game, so again, you get what they give you. On this forum there are TDB favorites, Feliciano seems to be one. His tough persona resonates with fans. To me he is a good G/C backup that can start and give you good reps. To me Spain seems to be underrated. There was criticism about his run blocking on this forum. He did not give up a sack all year in pass blocking. The coaches must like him as he was re-signed for 2 more years. Ford looked like a rookie. I recall Joe Develin and Kenny Jones having a few “learning” years too. Same with Jim Ritcher and many others. It takes time to learn the offense and for line to jell. -
Football in a pandemic era. It’s been done before..

This is not a good way to look at it. It is scary. Especially when the majority of the media is in bed with one party. The power of the media should not be underestimated. -
Which Bills Starter is most likely to regress in 2020?
Bob in STL replied to BisonMan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don’t buy into Brown, Beasley, Singletary, and the rest “losing reps” because of Diggs a s Moss. They can still get the same plays, targets and carries as last year. If Diggs and Moss make us better that’s translates into more long drives, more offensive plays, more first downs, more TDS, and more opportunities for the offense. -

Reason the Dolphins fired their OC
Bob in STL replied to Nihilarian's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The results have not been great but look at the talent on offense. Peterman at QB, Allen playing as a rookie. The 2018 OL was terrible. The WR corps was so lean that some people think Duke Williams is an NFL starter. Now in 2020 we finally have a stable and solid OL, quality WRs, good potential at TE, and a young and dynamic 1-2 punch at RB. Allen going into year 3 with the same system, same OC, is a good thing. -
I like Fitz … and I especially like him playing for Miami.

I remember going to that club as well. Bumper pool and baseball, and more baseball.

He was better than solid. He was an excellent player. A third round pick. He started just about every game that he dressed for in his 10 year career. He made a Pro Bowl in 1982. Was even better in '83 when he had 10 sacks in 14 games. To illustrate how messed up things were, he was drafted in 1976 and was the first African American football player at Ole Miss.

“Prolly” is not a word. Your belief is that it should be legal to drink beer while driving as long as it is below the limit? That is just bizarre. You believe that people will limit their intake two beers while driving? How can the legal system sort that out when they can’t do it for those that choose to drive when already impaired? Sounds like you have been both reckless and lucky. Be careful because someday your luck will “prolly” run out. As for Oliver, this is a wake up call. Hopefully he takes gets it, learns a lesson, and makes better decisions in the future.

[Vague Title] The King..Is out there..Sammy

He really did luck out getting picked up by Reid and KC. At least he seems smart enough to know that. He is a goid player, not a great one. I’m happy he is gone. He was a poor choice, especially for the cost to move up. Just proves Whaley’s lack of attention to important details. -
Check out this collison by Zack Moss.

He is a throwback type of football player. Quiet. His play will do the talking. -
Duke Williams Fred Jackson Comparison
Bob in STL replied to akcash's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Duke Williams legacy lives on. Duke played in 4 games for a below average NFL receiving corps. He has 12 receptions and 1 TD. He was not able to crack the line up on special teams. This guy has good size, has below average speed, runs average routes, has below average hands and played in the CFL because that is his level so far - that or maybe a 5th/6th WR in the NFL. He made a few big plays, and he had a few opportunities were he did not. Freddie Jackson was a legit NFL star, an UDFA that started in NFL Europe. He worked his way onto the roster as a backup RB that eventually led to prominent role with the team. He competed against first round picks Marshawn Lynch and CJ Spiller and earned his carries. Along the way he earned Pro Bowl and First Team All Pro honors while playing on mostly mediocre offenses. Over 9 season and despite some injuries he amassed 8643 yards of total offense in 120 games (61 starts), 4.4 YPC, 30 TDs, and was a team captain. I do not understand the comparison? Duke has a very long way to go to reach Fred's stature. Like 8 more seasons, 8500 more yards, 29 more TDs, and 2 pro bowls. If he were to reach even 75% of these totals, then we can have the conversation. -
Moss will be fine, he is a dedicated hard worker, fits the McD mold exactly. I highly doubt the Bills would be interested. I would not even consider him until I see what he does in Toronto, on and off the field. I am an old AFL fan, and that league made it, in part by giving players second and third chances - Cookie Gilcrest included. Of course they had little choice at the time. The league is different now and there are lots of young fringe players staying in shape and waiting for a call.
