The Jets better beat the Dolphins

??? tards? Check the stats and you will find that the defense has improve quite a bit from last year. Still a ways to go but on the right track. I don't think they choked. They played hard and had a shot to win it. The Titans made some big plays, the Bills needed to make few more plays but did not do it.

A Few Thoughts About The Game And The Bills
Bob in STL replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
1). Reed was a good signing by Marv. 2). JP made great strides this season and hopefully he is competitive next week against a great defense. 3). Peters is good and we can build around him. 4). ? The Titans are up and coming imo. 5). Fowler is ok, not a stud. 6). All linemen get caught holding. Gandy looks like a decent starting gaurd and an excellent reserve for OT/OG. In think we should re-sign him. 7). ok 8). Triplett is ok, more of a pass rusher. We need help at DT. 9). defense is played as a team game. 10). agreed 11). true. 12). thanks, same to you. -
So warming up on the sidleine, kicking inot a into a net that is 3 yards away is relevant? Wind is wind but Ok. Maybe somebody else will answer your question.
-
Our defense did not stop the run and did not contain Young on his scrambles. We scored 29 points at home in bad weather, that should be enough. We need a few more players on the defensive and offensive line to get to the next level.
-
I was not there but you saw the problems the Titans had just punting into that wind in the 3rd quarter. I am left wondering why we passed on 2nd, 3rd, and 4th down? I wonder if the 3rd and 4th down plays were intended to go that deep? Seems like shorter, higher percentage passes, would be better in that weather. Hard to say.

Bills vs. Titans [Game Thread]

Come on! That was a great game. Tought to lose, especially at home in the bad weather. Too bad we lost. We still need to address the D-line and the O-line. -
Bills vs. Titans [Game Thread]

Get over it. It is a TEAM Gamee. -
One would believe that if he did indeed know football that well that he would have been coaching somewhere else in the NFL. He has been doing the same tired radio bit for too many years. He is not at all entertaining or informative, He is a has been. They should change his shows name to "the once upon a time coach". Bottom line is this: Levy is in the HoF and employed as a GM. Dickerson is nothing.

Thank God for the Bills...
Bob in STL replied to BillsFanInRochester's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree with Promo. Enjoy it while it lasts. I will see the Sabres in St. Louis on Saturday and they usually lose when the come here. The Blues are bad but looking for their first win under a new coach. I hope to see a Sabres win, followed by a Bills win on Saturday. -Bob -

Re-Tooled or Re-Packaged?: Our new offensive line
Bob in STL replied to cmdevisser's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Your not impressed? Then watch the games. The sacks may be the same but Losman has much more time, he has room to step up, he is comfortable. The blocking is better and now we are getting the TE's into the play. The first 7 games he was running for his life; sack or no sack. Stats don't tell the whole story. I agree that there is room to improve but they are far better since the bye week changes. -
Ralph's Comment: Read between the lines?
Bob in STL replied to Cornerville's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree. I would like to see sign Clements, Fletcher, Kelsay and Gandy. Signing our players should be a priority. After that maybe we will have a few $$ to add some more talent via free agency ... I am no cap man. -
Don't You Just Love Mularkey Now?
Bob in STL replied to MDyl7993's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I watched the game in a sports bar and laughed every time I heard the Miami fans complain about the playcalling. Thanks Meathead. -
Moulds problems were due to his relationship with Meathead Mularkey. Marv wanted to keep him, remember?
-
he did ... he drafted Losman.

JP Losman's Passer rating 151

Where are all of the people who wanted to play Nall to "save the season". Deluca comes to mind. -
Not bad for starters but FB would be Cookie G, followed by Braxton.

Another Article About John Butler...
Bob in STL replied to Spun's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I do look at what was "handed" to them ... three teams passed on LT and they had him targeted on their guy. I cannot punish them for knowing that LT could be the best player in the league someday and then postioing themselves to take him. This move was unpopular because everyone was in love with Vick, but they made the absolute right move. The Eli Manning move was another great one and they cashed in big. Nothing is handed to anybody in the draft. That is why you are praising Pittsburgh, they have found excellent players in the lower rounds. -
Another Article About John Butler...

yeah right, give them no credit. -
Cardinal Sin .. but we will let it go. Let not forget that Sestak is our Best Ever at DT, Hull our Best Ever at Center. For WR it it tough to mix eras but I go in this order 1. Reed 2. Butler 3. Moulds 4. Dubenion I am talking about play "as a Bill". We have many honorable mentions at this position, such as Lofton, Chandler, Rashad, JD Hill. Lofton and Rashad did a lot with other teams too.
-
I cannot see that.

BS - The cap was not a 6 year problem. TD cleared out the cap issue in two years, just like any other GM could do. Cutting expensive players and playing rookies is not hard or ingenious, but all teams get to that point sooner or later. It is unfair because Butler sacrificed the cap to keep a team of veteran players together for one more run at the Super Bowl. The last legitimate run was the year of the "homerun throwback". Ralph was desperate for a title if you recall and Ralph was on board with the direction. Ralph tried to re-sign Butler to a new contract but Butler was evidently pissed about Ralph's interference with Wade, and also the Flutie-Johnson debacle. That is why he left. He did not run away from the cap. Butler could have gutted the team and stockpiled draft picks just like TD did. That was not the directed that managemnent wanted to go. I look at Butlers drafting and scouting record over his entire career and I say he was one of the best. I don't think he was a great GM in all aspects of the job, but he was excellent at judging talent. Ask Polian, Levy, Smith, etc.
