Wide Receiver Train Full Speed Ahead- CHOO CHOO!
FireChans replied to Pete's topic in The Stadium Wall
His big offseason acquisition last year was Curtis Samuel but he knew that Curtis Samuel wasn’t good enough? And he knows Josh Palmer isn’t good enough but threw a bucket of money his direction too? At a certain point, this position comes untenable. ”we were cap strapped!” “He knows it’s not good enough, he just keeps doing it because XYZ” Barring a significant move at WR prior to camp, which imo is extremely unlikely, I think it’s safe to say that Beane thinks he can get by with this level of talent at WR. And that he does think that guys like Palmer and Samuel are significant adds. There is a level of irony that Palmer/Samuel have a higher cap hit than DK this year -
Bills 4th Round Pick : Deone Walker - DT - Kentucky

I thought historically JP couldn’t stay on the field because he regularly ignored his assignment to get upfield and hunt for sacks. wasn’t that the reason we didn’t re-sign him? -

How can we say this when he went to camp with basically the same group last year? -
Is there an NFL team with a weaker WR group than the Bills?

Philosophically, what is the point of discussing differing viewpoints if they don’t matter to you? I think it’s time for you to look inward. Some self-reflection. -
They value run blocking and not being a locker room headache.

Then why even bother engaging. Story sounds a little different now. i don’t believe you watched any Chargers games. You probably saw some film mashups by a Bills production brand. -

I love the Bills. It hurts my heart to watch them waste their best chance in winning the big one in Josh Allen. Palmer ***** SUCKS. He was getting outtargeted by Quinton Johnston who is a laughably bad WR with terrible hands and a borderline bust. Im willing to bet you have never watched more than a single Chargers game so what are you even adding here RE: Palmer? -

You know what seems like a winning strategy? Theres a way to cost control players. Players that play positions that demand really high contracts. Somehow, if you could take some of these players when they enter the league? At like a player selection meeting? They don’t cost nearly as much. Then you can get a ton of value out of them before you need to pay them lots of money. it seems radical, so I have to do some more research on the subject. If you hear about anything like that, please let the group know. -

I don’t know. I know I spent a lot of time last year arguing with folks that Mack Hollins wouldn’t see a ton of playing time. A LOT. He, of course, was the leading snap count WR. The problem with that is that Palmer sucks -

Scoring more PPG is good. Saying “hey Josh, you somehow won MVP making Mack Hollins look okay, do that AGAIN with Lavishka Shenault” is malpractice. Full stop. -
Laviska Shenault has 96 yards since 2022.

It’s called the Hokey Pokey round these parts. Excellent work as always

No. The 2020 Bills scored more PPG. That was back when Josh had maybe a top 3 receiving group -

FWIW Mack was the 2024 leading WR in snap count. He won the MVP with far lesser number than Lamar Jackson because the NFL world at large recognized him making miracle plays to carry JAGs on offense and keep a bad defense off the field. Sigh -

Groundhog Day. Is it even possible to still get mad at this stuff anymore? This is like when the drought era Bills refused to seriously invest in QB for years at a time, and TBD would crow that “we did address QB, we brought in Brian BROHM!” We will have serious problems on offense and throw away capital for a WR rental AGAIN, probably. Then bemoan why we don’t have a third round pick, AGAIN. Contractually, this is not correct. The NFL market has spoken. -
Bills 6th Round Pick (#1) : Dorian Strong - CB - VA Tech
FireChans replied to Simon's topic in The Stadium Wall
I am certainly very confident that we spent almost all of our draft capital on defense this year. Do you disagree with that amateur expertise lmao -

Clearly we just need 100% defense 0% offense and that will make the difference of stopping Andy Reid in the playoffs! - TBD on this glorious day -
Kiko didn’t win the real rookie of the year? I thought he was runner-up to Sheldon Richardson.

Buffalo Bills Consensus Draft Grades
FireChans replied to Victory Formation's topic in The Stadium Wall
I gave it a B. I think they addressed most of the major areas on defense. Disappointed in offensive investment. Hopeful that the defense will finally figured it out in the playoffs against the Chiefs. Silver lining that if the defense sucks again with an entire offseason dedicated to McD’s defense, maybe his seat will get warm. -

THEY PLAY MORE GAMES NOW im so sick of this dumb stat lol I think the point you are missing is that because of Josh Allen, a deep threat WR5 may actually move the needle a LOT more than DT5 -

Wide Receiver Train Full Speed Ahead- CHOO CHOO!
FireChans replied to Pete's topic in The Stadium Wall
The point was when it came to team-building, even the Pats who were notoriously stingy on WR’s invested more than Beane. So from a team-building blueprint checklist, we don’t have the HoF coach, we don’t have the HoF TE, we don’t have the championship defense, and we don’t even draft as many WR’s as they did, which is the lowest bar to probably clear. Other than that, yep, following the model exactly lol. -

Top recievers? Sure. But here’s the WR’s drafted by NE from 2009 to 2013: 3rd 7th 3rd 7th 2nd 4th Compare that 5 year stretch of investment to Beano’s strategy. Even NE with their crappy WR history invested more than Beane’s “blueprint” lmao.
