What you have just said makes no sense to me at all. . I have absolutely no idea what the two of you are talking about. . -
My favorite Bruins moment ever... .

i know nothing about Anslinger, but Hearst’s sensationalism, exaggeration, and proclivity for outright lies is well-known. He basically started the Spanish Amercan War - when his illustrator wired that nothing was going on in Cuba, Hearst replied, “You furnish the pictures, I’ll furnish the war!” Hearst banned alcohol from his castle at San Simeon, but guests snuck it in. Likewise with pot, I’m sure. As for jazz musicians and the gange, I love the below piece on legendary Louis Armstrong, his involvement with and love of pot, and the fact that Richard Nixon once smuggled pot into the United States for Armstrong! https://potent.media/louis-armstrong-and-marijuana . -
Bills 2019 schedule officially released
The Senator replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well, it’s better for me because I fall asleep during night games. I’d prefer all Bills games at 1:00. I just don’t care if the rest of the nation sees the Bills play, so long as I see them. Besides, we have a national game on Thanksgiving, and we’ll have 3 more in the playoffs. -
Can the Bills wait past the 3rd Rd for a RB ?

Yeah, that’d be too much effort for me as well. We’re gonna make the playoffs regardless of the early bye - I just think a November bye benefits us more. It’s a long season and the guys are hurting by then. . -
You took the words right out of my mouth! (Brady had a pretty good sophomore season too, if you consider winning the Superbowl a good year.) .

I was staying at the Marriott With Jesus and John Wayne I was waiting for a chariot They were waiting for a train The sky was full of carrion "I'll take the mazuma" Said Jesus to Marion "That's the 3:10 to Yuma My ride's here..." The Houston sky was changeless We galloped through bluebonnets I was wrestling with an angel You were working on a sonnet You said, "I believe the seraphim Will gather up my pinto And carry us away, Jim Across the San Jacinto My ride's here..." Shelley and Keats were out in the street And even Lord Byron was leaving for Greece While back at the Hilton, last but not least Milton was holding his sides Saying, "You bravos had better be ready to fight Or we'll never get out of East Texas tonight The trail is long and the river is wide And my ride's here" I was staying at the Westin I was playing to a draw When in walked Charlton Heston With the Tablets of the Law He said, "It's still the Greatest Story" I said, "Man I'd like to stay But I'm bound for glory I'm on my way My ride's here..."

Pocohantes calls for impeachment hearings...
The Senator replied to The Senator's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
The House may impeach the President, as they did Andrew Johnson and Bill Clinton, but removal from office requires he he/she be convicted by a two thirds super-majority of the Senate. It didn’t happen with Johnson or Clinton and, as you’ve stated, it won’t happen happen with this President either. But the scenario you describe would be hilarious. . -

Makes sense - I just like it later ‘cause guys get banged up, and the later bye week gives us time to rest and heal for the playoffs. ? . -
Legendary blues pianist and longtime member of Muddy Waters band... Yes, that’s Willie Dixon on the standup bass. .

Took me a bit to break the code - Maryland is known for blue crab, crab cakes, anything with crab. Still can’t figure out what apples have to do with New Jersey. . -
Pocohantes calls for impeachment hearings...
The Senator replied to The Senator's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Even Pelosi is pushing back on impeachment hearings, calling them a waste of the House’s time. Warren will be one of first to drop out, along with Kirsten Giidebrand, who hasn’t been endorsed by a single member of New York’s congressional delegation or the governor. In fact, of the 18 on this list https://www.cnn.com/2019/01/21/politics/2020-democrats-running-for-president/index.html all but Sanders and O’Rourke (please, I’d rather vote for PJ O’Rourke) will either drop out or suspend their campaigns after the Iowa caucuses, if not sooner. Biden will announce on Wednesday. I can’t wait to hear the nonsense that comes out of that gaffe-prone idiot’s mouth. . -
I suppose we’ll have to ban Caddyshack too... .

I neglected to mention the Karpeles Manuscript Library (Buffalo has two - one on Porter Ave. and one on Elmwood and North), the numerous Underground Railroad and African American Heritage Sites (Michigan Ave. Baptist Church, Broderick Park, Nash House, Colored Musicians Club), Burchfield Penny, etc., etc... https://stepoutbuffalo.com/wny-museums/ https://www.michiganstreetbuffalo.org/ .

One of most racially charged films, IMO, is the 1942 Bing Crosby classic, Holiday Inn, featuring Bing and Margorie Reynolds in black face singing Irving Berlin songs. I suppose we should ban the movie and all Bing Crosby films and music - including, from the same movie, Berlin’s White Christmas. After all, the Me Too movement managed to get “Baby It’s Cold Outside” banned. .

Those were beautiful old buildings, replaced by ‘modern’ monstrosities in the name of urban renewal. In 1969 some shmuck consultants from Cambridge MA (Arthur D . Little) convinced our wise city leaders that we needed a downtown shopping mall. Erie Cty Svgs Bank, a gorgeous old edifice, was demolished to make room for Main Place, which now sits almost empty. At the same time, the mall completely altered Buffalo’s historic street plan, which was laid out by Joseph Ellicott and loosely based on Pierre L’Enfant’s design for Washington DC. Here’s another gem that burned and wasn’t saved, the old Pierce Palace Hotel, that used to grace the West Side... http://blog.buffalostories.com/torn-down-tuesday-pierces-palace-hotel-in-1880/ They also tore down the old Fargo Mansion (founder of Wells Fargo and American Express). I wouldn’t be surprised if the Statler goes soon - Croce isn’t doing anything except letting it fall apart. Thank God for the Central Terminal Restoration Corporation - at least someone is trying to save the place. .

You would be referring to the Darwin Martin house - he was president of the Larkin Company here in Buffalo. The Buffalo and Erie County Historical Society on Elmwood and Nottingham is interesting - the have the actual gun that was used to assassinate President McKinley. Also, the Theodore Roosevelt Inaugural Site (Wilcox Mansion) on Delaware, run by the National Park Service, if you like that sort of stuff. .

There’s also the Heath house on Soldiers Circle and the Davidson house on Tillinghast ( both private residences), the Blue Sky Mausoleum at Forest Lawn, the Fontana Boat House, and the FLW filling station, which he designed for Buffalo but was never built - Jim Sandoro finally built it inside the Pierce Arrow Museum. It’s a crying shame Buffalo demolished the Larkin Adminstration Building in 1950... https://buffalonews.com/2016/06/11/buffalo-know-lost-larkin-administration-building/
