  1. This thread is funny. Half the people think it's the dumbest thread ever and that it's all the Eagles line. The other half think it's mostly Hurts. Some have said Josh is excellent at this already (he once was) and some have said he sucks now, too many fumbles (not exactly the case). We just mostly stopped running it after the Titans game. Nobody thinks it's worth dedicating some resources to in order to lock up a 3rd or 4th an short? In any event, I would bet money assisting the runner will be banned very soon, at the least, they will say something like you can only assist the runner when they cross the line of scrimmage. These 4th and 1 plays are some of the most exciting in the game and teams do get a decent amount of stops on them. The assisted sneak is just lame and boring. Doesn't really feel in the spirit of the game.
  2. Yup, they use a different technique than any other team. Then they have an insanely strong runner as well. Same as Josh, but again, we keep choosing to not run it after horrible things happen. Two straight years now. I think you’re extremely short sited if you think it’s not worth a roster spot for a guaranteed first down on anything within a yard. Show me the stats of us being the best in the league on 3rd or 4th and 1.
  3. I would think college teams have tons of potential options. Mobile or physically strong guys who just will never make it throwing.
  4. We used to run it with Josh at some of the highest and most successful rates in the league. Post Titans, we haven't run it much at all. We started again this year a little more with the runner assist, but post Minnesota game I don't believe we ran it one time. Given our clear history of running it, then basically stopping all together after "events" two years in a row, my thought was Allen had the yips. Perhaps that isn't the case. Could be one of many things. Having said this, we certainly never coached the submarine style line blocking the Eagles do. Nor the level of runner assist the Eagles use. We basically had one WR pushing. You can tell, the Eagles practice that all the time. I feel if practiced all the time it is basically unstoppable. I wouldn't be surprised if the NFL puts in a rule to take that play out. It's a cheat code as it stands right now. https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-just-fall-forward-nfl-teams-qb-sneak-underutilized
  5. I don't think it's that straight forward. With the right execution, practice, and technique. You just can't stop it. Not with assisting the runner. I expect every team in the NFL to go this path. That yard is worth a couple of wins a year.
  6. Is it worth a roster spot? Hell yes it is. Especially if you think Josh just can't execute it, which until the Titans game he did nearly to perfection. Since that point we barely have run it. Watching the Eagles do this all year and in this game. Such a huge advantage to be guaranteed 3rd/4th and 1.
  7. If this is true it would be comical but make sense. Diggs is still the Alpha. I don't care that Allen is a bigger star or the QB. Allen is goofy and not the least bit confrontational while Diggs just doesn't give a F. If you envision a pre-madonna moment between the two with that dynamic it's not a pretty thought. I don't think much of this is real, if any of it. Some of it makes some sense if you just visualize them in a moment like this, but you could argue not giving a F would be a greater sin. If they don't get along it seems like the root tends to be wins and losses with a dash of get me the ball, but not enough to bother me.
  8. ESPN did an interview with him and his brother earlier this year. They're VERY close. Steph basically raised him. In the ESPN piece they talked about Trevon coming to Buffalo. If you listen to the interview he just keeps repeating he wants to play with his brother. Which, I mean, if I was a millionaire elite athlete and so was my brother, I think I would like to do the same thing. He mentions that he's followed the Cowboys much more since Trevon has been there and he liked them when he was a kid. Outside of that it's just I want to play with my brother. Now maybe that's here, maybe it's Dallas, somewhere else or never, but he has been nothing but committed to us.
  9. We did a cameo at my work with Brett Favre and he was wasted. Slurring. It was a mess. Maybe we aren't all built for what happens after you get to the top of the mountain.
  10. I don't think I'm insulting McDermott by saying Hall will learn more in Jacksonville. He is young and he has learned what he can at this point. Who is going to develop his offensive mind further in Buffalo? In this, I guess it is a bit of a concern. You don't want a WR coach on a SB contender in a position where it make sense for him to grow outside your team.
  11. I what to talk about where my enthusiasm is regarding Tremaine Edmunds possible contract, but I don't feel this is the correct thread,
  12. I was just messing around. This threads not aging well but I hope it will eventually. For humors sake here is the nearly two decade old post I will tell my never to born grandkids about
  13. Anybody want to bump my Kyle Williams preseason review where I discussed how I thought he was going to surprise a lot of people? We could also unearth some Haloti Ngata, but I think half the wall has one of those threads to bump
  14. I assume the pic is you playing tic tac toe with Tremaine Edmonds for his 13th birthday as Josh looks on holding Isaiah McKenzie who is in a diaper?
  15. He still ran a couple really sexy routes. He's excellent on slants. We had nothing like him to replace what he did this year. Sure, that is telling, but he is a very specific type of player and seemed to have great rapport with Josh. Shame on us for thinking that was so disposable.
  16. Jacksonville was actually pretty damn good. They closed very strong. I would have rather seen Detroit than Tampa. Detroit is a problem for the NFC long term and I'm thrilled to see it. Campbell has assembled a hell of a coaching roster. They're very aggressive and intelligent in play calling. They have another early draft pick this year. Mentally strong team.
  17. If you catch a kid stealing a pack a gum and he says "this is the first time, it will never happen again". If you pull over a drunk driver and he says "this is the first time, it will never happen again". Point is, once somebody shows a willingness to do something, even multiple somethings, it makes you wonder, is it really the first time? I give the Patriots credit for what they did and I don't diminish it at all as a result of what happened. That said, do you really think everything they tried was revealed to us or even discovered? What we know about is what they were caught doing. What weren't they caught doing?
  18. Lots of 2020 responses and I agree, Josh was insane that year. It was an MVP quality year. Not sure if it was his elbow, but defenses just wouldn't let him get to the sideline to create like he could in 2020. That was Josh prior to massive reals of game film and every team trying to take away his best. He will have to adapt to it. I think most teams will slow rush him, spy him, force our weak line to block, and force Josh to check down or win from the pocket.
  19. Johnsons pick 6 is probably the most memorable play (my opinion)
  20. When I'm talking to a drought era born fan, it's like when they talk about what life was like before the outbreak on walking dead. I feel for you. It's so bizarre to have experienced this version as the only successful version.
  21. Did they get the stash right? Also the elbow does not look healthy. Is he carrying a golf club?
  22. I don't think win total equates to happiness. Happiness is just a weird thing in general. Arguably the best we ever played was at the end of the 2021 season. Still, how that concluded, I just can't rank that one as the the one I enjoyed the most. To me, my favorite Josh Allen year was actually the 2019 season. Sure, we had ended the drought, but 2019 was the first major signal that we were back. That Allen was a stud. The Dallas Thanksgiving game was special. The fumble recovery turned into beast mode first down perhaps captured Josh as well as any play in his career. We were ascending in all facets of the game into what we had been dreaming of for decades. It was exciting. Even with the disappointment of the the Houston game, we seemed to have everything in front of us. Thing is, we still do. It just depends on how you look at things. For every action is an equal an opposite reaction. That is true of the board right now. Still, some years are just damn fun and 2019 was one of them. I hope we find that excitement again.
