Parsons traded to Green Bay, given $188 million contract
Mikie2times replied to Roundybout's topic in The Stadium Wall
For those that are in the camp of too much money, what do you expect to pay if we hit on a elite DE? Are you going to let him walk after his first contract? The goal is to be in a position to pay somebody this type of money. We haven’t been yet. So in some ways whenever we see these deals, especially given our inability to find this type of talent ourselves, yes, it’s a little frustrating that we aren’t in the mix. A player like this is the difference at this point and a couple picks in the 30s hasn’t really elevated this team. To me, a guy like this is worth Keon Coleman, Max Hairston, and Ed Oliver. That’s a couple 30 picks and your DT. It’s not even a thought. I hope we at least made the call. -

Allen vs Mahomes, is this a controversial take?
Mikie2times replied to zow2's topic in The Stadium Wall
I'm not failing to give KC credit and sure, do you "press" a bit more vs a team you think can score a lot of points? Sure. That however doesn't explain what we are seeing in these match ups. Buffalo's defense regresses to the extent that it can't be explained by any one thing. Certainly a huge part of that is KC. -
Allen vs Mahomes, is this a controversial take?
Mikie2times replied to zow2's topic in The Stadium Wall
The Chiefs have had 6 total points vs the Bills in all of the playoff match ups. The per drive efficiency, YPA, and total metrics are literally off the charts. For what your saying to be the reason the Chiefs would have to be saying in lower scoring playoff games like Houston last year or Baltimore the year before, lets just not be as efficient offensively. Which just doesn't make sense. No competent team would intentionally run a less efficient offense as a result of the opponent having a less efficient offense. The concept you speak of is more about pace of play. Which yes, the Bills and Chiefs games would typically have a higher pace of play, but Buffalo has been intentionally trying to shorten the game script as a result of the Chiefs offensive efficiency over the last two years. It still hasn't worked and hasn't mattered. -

People are sleeping on him big time again, which you have seen play out before with Brady. His last two years have been fairly meh, but would I be suprised if he drops a 40 TD year? Not in the least. The Chiefs aren't going away as much as people like to be trendy and predict it.- 135 replies

Can you imagine if Beane had done this (‘22 draft)…
Mikie2times replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall
So what exactly did your well connected friend or you personally decipher, that was a Belichick scheme player? Every coach has players they like. That era had larger LB's. If he had a "fit" it was versailitly and brains. But he was always going to value talent and make the talent work with his gameplan which was modified weekly. Not only in the actual calls, but the core schemes themselves. We are signifigantly overfitted in comparison. We only pursue penetrating DL's and LB's. Man corners fail in this system. He did not overfit physical traits outside of his LB's at that time. But even with his LB's it was only his MLB he looked at for that traditional run stuffer which the entire league did for most his time in the NFL. His OLB's were pass rushers. If you have evidence that he only drafted pentrating players or something so physically speciifc at multiple levels of his defense across every player like Buffalo does, by all means, serve it up. -

What I always liked about Belichick is he wasn't married to one way. Sure, his base was a 3-4 or some might say multiple, but if it meant playing a 4-3 he would or a 2-4-5 vs us in the 1990 Super Bowl. He looked at each situation, evaluated his players, evaluated the team he was facing, and designed a game plan for that specific week. He drafted football players over fits, knowing he would require a variety of skills. Most teams do not do this. But I feel like we are almost on the extreme version of not doing this. Overfitting to scheme, rigid in weekely schematic changes, and predicatable for offenses to plan for. -

Allen really changed the whole conversation. If we had anybody oustide of Allen, Burrow, Jackson, or Mahomes, I don't think this place would be this way. But we have one of those four and probably the one you want most. At this point I don't think we can say its patience or logic. We have had incredible success and incredible failure and data can back up whichever you want backed up. We see the extremes taken more for affect. If the argument was Beane or McD are actually bad, I would push back against that. Some here do argue that. That is the type of stuff that lacks perspective. But if it's can they get us a ring, again, it's whatever the flavor is you choose to side with. Plenty of data either way. I don't understand this opinion. I imagine I will be savoring a Super Bowl for several years after all that has happened. This is the least entitled fanbase on the planet. -

Disagree. I became a fan at the ripe age of 8 years old in 1990. Since that time we have had some really great high's, but we have also been among the more tormented franchises in the NFL. Wide Right, MCM, 4 Super Bowls, Just Give it to Um, Willie Parker, 17 years playoff drought, 19 starting QB's in that 17 years, 13 seconds. It sounds like we didn't start the fire depressed Buffalo Bills addition. Now, do the pre 90's fans have a longer list? Likely so. But at the end of the day all most of us want is one. Which is the source of the intensity when talking about our current team. Some feel pretty strongly that our regime is surviving off Allen acting as a road block to the next step. Others feel like they're the main reason we are here. Logic likely doesn't put it at either extreme, but it's not hard to see why each side is so dug in. Either way, new year, new chance to put this all to rest. Season can't start soon enough. -
Tenure is not gurantee of competency. Not debating if he is or isn't, just stating that plenty of incompetent people are in roles they have held for decades.

Game (two week) thread - Ravens at Bills SNF
Mikie2times replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
Easy decision for week 1. I won't bet against Buffalo in the playoffs, but just too many factors against us here. Shakir health? CB? Revenge Angle Zay Flowers will play Poor week 1 starts 4 of the past 5 years I understand why we are favorites here, but I don't think we should be. Later in the year that can change. This team will peak toward the end not the start. -
I don't like our prospects vs Baltimore but that was never what this was about for me. The goal for me is to stay in prime contention for the #1 seed and be positioned to hit our peak toward the back half of the season. I don't see a threat to that goal. Even if we lose the Baltrimore game we have a bunch that follow that should allow us to get in a groove and stay competitive for the #1 seed. At which point, this team has a chance to develop more, get healthy, and we can see what we really have. On the back half of the schedule Keon should be even better Bosa should be better Bishop should be even better Max could end up being a starter Hoecht will be back Sanders/Jackson/Walker could all make progress. Shakir will be healthier Samuel will be healthier (or replaced by somebody who will be likely improving over the year) Palmer will be better All Pro Milano is something we haven't seen in some time

I would say the Taron Johnson pick six is the high point of the Allen/McD/Beane era thus far.
-
Does that mean he's done a top 10 job since then?
-
I mean, the only other player to record 12 or more sacks his first four years is Reggie White. I get that he’s a bit shiny, being a Cowboy. A bit prone to the hype machine. But from a pass rushing production standpoint the start of his career is in Canton trajectory.

Wishbone and 46 (can it still work in modern day NFL)
Mikie2times replied to major's topic in The Stadium Wall
The Wild Cat is the closest version to pre 1950 concepts I have seen in the modern NFL. At the end of the day defenses are just too fast at this level. It can work at some colleges. Specifically service academies who tend to benefit from continuity in the system. It’s also a better offense for less physically talented teams. While not consistent, it can work intermittently when you step up in competition. I remember Army giving Michigan everything it could handle a few years ago. Georgia Tech was also pretty good with it for a long time. But as the competition increases defenses are just too fast for plays that develop that slowly. Even in the case of Georgia Tech, when they stepped up in class they got shut down. It’s an offense that raises the floor but lowers the ceiling in most cases. I also agree, for me it is the best offense to watch in football. I have always loved watching the service academies. -
Regardless of if you think we will be better or worse, our trajectory is slanted to the 2nd half of the year. Not only will our rookies have half a season at that point, but our suspended players come back as well. They have the potential to be better, but as of week 1 I don't see it. I also don't think this regime or team or whatever has the chops for high level postseason football until I see a clear reason to believe it. One thing that might help is a top 10 defense. But to get that we need so many things to go right and so many not to go wrong. Our depth in the secondary is just terrifying at the moment given Rupp, White, Benford, and Tarons injury history. Even if the defensive line has a break thru how does that secondary hold up? We will need Max or Bishop. I also understand we have been very close despite these short comings. I'm just not part of the contingent that thinks it's luck how those games concluded. I don't assume if we score in either of the last two years KC doesn't just go down the field as they have before. Nor that teams like Houston or the Bengals are easy playoff wins. I also don't think we have Baltimore's number as some like to think. Lamar in bad weather is bad and we have had him twice in bad weather. Week 1 is going to be different. But sure, we will recover, and then a lot of these questions will get resolved as the year progresses. look at this team as much further than one play. What everybody seems to forget is KC would probably have gotten the ball even if we scored. To me

Eric Dickerson Claims Teams Were Told To Not Draft Shedeur Sanders
Mikie2times replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall
People should read the article before making judgement. The "draft" makes the league a ton of money. If the players stop playing ball in the pre draft spectacle the NFL will lose money. None of these guys have contracts. It's basically NIL all over again with an entity profiting off you while not sharing the wealth. I don't think Shedeur wanted to play along. He treated the process as if he was doing the interviewing. Which is fine. The best employees do that all the time. Some might argue Sanders is not that and that is why he fell. Which could very well be true, but it could also be true that he pushed back against the "NFL way". Which we have seen historically has led to collusion, cover ups, and deception for the greater good. The almighty dollar. This story might have more legs than people think, I think.
