  1. Yeah, I couldn't swallow the Brady love like JT can. Every other freaking word out of his mouth was Brady this Brady that. Ok, the team is beating us down, I can handle that - lord knows I've seen it enough - but shut the hell up about Brady already!
  2. Yeah, that's my whole thing... I respect police. My grandfather was a Buffalo cop and my cousin is a DC cop. My gut tells me that in this case it was too much... But that's all, just my gut... I wasn't there, obviously.
  3. I highly recommend the Spearmint Rhino.
  4. All this talk of "protecting" the police from a "stabbing" just boils my blood. Yes, I know tazers are adjustable, but they're just not meant to be used on 6 year olds. You said it though, we don't know enough from the story. He may have been plunging the thing into his leg over and over again, perhaps it was the right measure. It just seems quite wrong to me, as if they had maced him. If it was the only thing they could do to protect the 6 year old, I can (almost) agree with it, but the cops were never in any danger. -Jeff
  5. Stabbing? I really hope you're kidding. We're talking about a six year old with a piece of glass, not a 14 year old with a machete. For Christ's sake, put on a pair of leather gloves and grab the the kid. Adjustable tazer or not, they're lucky they didn't kill the kid doing that. -Jeff
  6. Oh don't get me started on "zero tolerance." That's just as bad...
  7. You know.. there is so much truth in that...
  8. Bah, I don't buy that. What if your employer tells you you need to take out the spikes in your face? Do you explain to him that it's your individuality and you cannot take them out? You're fired. When your school tells you to take them out, if you refuse, you're suspended. There are consequences. Do I *agree* with the rule? Not really. Teenagers do that stuff, we all know that. But the way I see it, a rule is a rule. When mommy comes to the rescue in order to save her child, who is trying to express himself and all that, she teaches him that "not all rules are important." Follow the rules. If you don't like it or don't agree with it, question it - but don't break it because you feel it shouldn't apply to you. Should it be my child, I would back the school in this case. She needs to respect authority, not find ways around it. More power to her if she wants to try and effect change through proper channels.
  9. Well you've got my respect! I'd last about a week. If you don't like it, send 'em private or home school 'em. It seems like I've seen more and more of this crap recently. Parents that know better than school administrations when it comes to school rules. Lots of "my kid didn't do it" syndrome.
  10. I can agree with that. Teachers are probably so afraid of this type of thing that they lack the gonads to discipline as they should in many cases. These parents need to teach these kids to respect authority, not to whine and cry when they don't get their way. Question the way it is, sure? Completely disregard it because you're better? No way.
  11. Move me if you must, I'm a vent thread. What on earth is happening to parents? Since when was it okay for parents to condone NOT listening to rules placed on children in schools? Read this: http://www.cnn.com/2004/EDUCATION/11/11/no...reut/index.html They told her no gymnastics at lunch. She did it anyways and faced the consequences - suspension. Her idiot father comes to her rescue. When she is 30 and lands a DWI is he coming to her rescue? When her employer tells her not to summersault in the board room, will he come to her rescue? Furthermore, why is this crap on CNN? Then... then we have this winner: http://wsbradio.com/news/0923henrypiercing.html. The school says no piercing. He refuses to oblige. He is suspended due to his refusal to oblige. His idiot mother goes nuts... "he could do it at his old school." Well, welcome to the new school. I could wear sneakers at my old place of business - I can't now. Those are the breaks. These parents keep condoning irresponsibility. Everyone has to listen to the rules except THEIR children. In short... what the hell? Ok. Good. Got that out. Feel free to move me! -Jeff
  12. Yeah, I heard about that! This is the lucky movie star, right?
  13. So... TBD ladies... what gives? Do you want us to look?
  14. Mine is a 4 megapixel digital. http://web.canon.jp/Imaging/pss410/index-e.html Definitely not professional quality. A point and shoot. -Jef
  15. I, for the first time in nearly a decade, will be there!
  16. If she's talking to YOU when she puts her hands up there, or "brushes" herself while she's talking to you - it's a subconscious sign that she's interested. Really.
  17. As do I, as do I. As if to say, "you've got my attention, what do you want to do with it?"
  18. Thanks man!
  19. Getting my stuff packed, heading out tomorrow! Can I bring my camera into the game Sunday?
  20. Jeb already said he's not interested, as did VP. Honestly, I think Rice might give it a go.
  21. I know it's been a while since you posted this, but I really agree with it. Small government is good. If you're worried about the poor, give to a charity; I do. I really don't think that's the government's place.
  22. I would argue that's because both sides of the state are so drastically different. Buffalo and the surrounds are hurting as usual whereas the land downstate is in different shape. I would love to live back up there, but I'm not going to come up and deal with this stuff again.
  23. I actually see it the other way around. If the democrats had put forth a candidate with a bit more of a conservative record, I think they would have won hands down.
  24. did it on fri
  25. Now that you mention it, back in the 80's it wasn't bad. Over the last, what, ten years or so it has gone to trash.
