I'm *really* going to catch it for this, but here goes... Nirvana in my book is single handedly responsible for a generation of self-loathing pasty white teenagers. The "grunge revolution" took the fun out of being a teenager. The music? I like the music. I love AIC and the like. Nirvana music is pretty good as well. The stigma? Not a chance. I grew up during the 90's. Class of '96. This is how I see it. I can't count the number of people I know that slipped in a drooling "I suck so I'm off to write crappy poetry and listen to Rape Me" trance. -Jeff

Hey hey! Guess who works 2 blocks away from all that stuff? We've offices in two buildings down here. One is in lock-down; the guy stole his second car from the deck right across the street. My building is about three blocks away from that. I get to watch all the pretty lights all day out the window here. There are random police vans and cars going by, automatics locked and loaded. Those blocks are of course closed off (going to be fun going home!) and all traffic is messed. I've said it before and I'll say it again. It *sucks* working inner-city. The courthouse is right across from City Hall if I'm thinking of the right place, traffic court is right near that. How this guy got out of there I don't know. It's a bit of a distance from where he was in court to where he stole that second car. -Jeff

I'm up there a couple times a year, lots of wife's family in Knoxville. If you're close to it, hit up the TN aquarium, blows the one in PF away. Gotta hit Dollywood, it's right there on the "strip."

I got my permit on my 16th birthday and was a NYS licensed driver exactly 41 days later (there was a waiting list for the east aurora test). That's one thing that other states do that I like... (I *know* this will irk ya Smoker, but I can't help it..) they make you wait a full year from the day you get your permit. 16, and so begins the late-teens. A don't remember 'em all that well. Of course it has to be race, why wouldn't it be? I honestly didn't even *think* race until someone here posted the association. I thought "big dude needlessly beating the hell out of little dude." I wonder if it's a function of age. I've had countless run-ins with race issues. I can't count how many times I've been called something slang for "white dude" downtown. Yet race isn't an issue to me, I just classify those individuals a spank-offs. Not black-spank-offs, just spank-offs. Color to myself and most of those I know is just an attribute, much like hair length, eye color, and build. Eh, we still need another 50 years or so. The hardcore race issues are mostly gone, but there's still a lot of apprehension. EDIT. That said, what the hell? It sucks going downtown because of that crap! -Jeff

I really love the way the race card can justify barbaric behavior. If I beat someone down for all of the anti-white comments I've heard while working downtown (Atlanta), I'd be serving 20 to life. -Jeff
