  1. When? Not very often.. if she's a Bio-head and wants to get into the medical field, most med schools don't take AP Bio as part of the required "two full semesters of general biology." Sure, it's college credit, but you'll be taking it over anyways. This of course was *my* plan in life until I realized I could easily become an Internet Millionaire at 18. And That, of course, was a big... big mistake! We'll save that for another post, though! -Jeff
  2. You've got to do that kind of junk or you'll go nuts! Let me rephrase what I said earlier... I like what I do, but it looses its flavor right quick when you mix corporate politics. If I could be like the only computer guy on an island full of women, then.. THEN I would truly be happy.
  3. At Hamburg HS, I was taking two full periods of Gym every day, because I had slacked off in it 9 - 11, where it's an every-other-day thing. Four years of Gym class packed into one year. NYS requires it. I passed it all, too. I'll tell you though, I've never been in better shape! -Jeff
  4. Did I mention that we lost utility power on Sunday and our generator didn't kick in? I spent 6 hours on the phone that night talking NOC monkeys through app-server startup procedures. If I could count the times I've literally slept under my desk for this place without so much as a "thank you" the next day.... I've got blue-collar in my blood. I do what I'm told, I do my time, I put in a damn hard day's work. What happens? I'm left in the same spot because I do it better than most other folks would ever aspire too. We did some work for the Orange County Choppers guys a while back.. I don't think I left that office for a week. Every morning I'd get to hear that big guy yell at my boss via speakerphone. My boss would turn and relay it right back to me... then he'd go home. Pfft. Jeff
  5. I am, actually. As I said above I'm going to be switching very shortly. It not what I do that I dislike, it's the place. Up until now, I've not really done any of that stuff. Dislike it as I may, it's my responsibility to be there and get it done, and I do that. Everyone bolts a bit early on a Friday. Don't really know what got into me this afternoon, though! A switch is exactly what I need. I've been doing the same thing, in almost the same position save for a "Sr." here and there for more than seven years now. In the IT world, that's an eternity. It's really a change of scenery that I'm needing, and I hope to get that shortly.
  6. Hell, I've got more of 'em. There's the laptop guy. One guy finally quit, but he made it a habit of going to see a midday movie every now and then. Always leave your computer logged in, you're probably just away to the bathroom... The movie guy used to always walk in behind someone else so he didn't scan his access card. I've never been one to do that kind of stuff. Funny? Yeah. I've always just felt guilty. Now that I've got another job lined up, I've kind of "lost my care." -Jeff
  7. I realized today that I really dislike what I'm doing at work. While waiting for my job switch to complete, I've become somewhat apathetic. I think it reached a new low today. I was on a conference call talking about some software release when I decided I was hungry. I put the phone in the desk drawer and got up and left. I never hung it up - if I would have the "beep beep" of the conference service would have signaled my departure. Any one else do this crap? Or is it just my small group at work? One guy actually brought in an old laptop bag that he leaves open on the desk... so when he leaves at 2:30 everyone thinks he's just away in a meeting.
  8. Fantasy Island sucks, take him to Darien Lake. Don't people die at Fantasy Island once or twice a week? Rides falling apart or some such accident... There's also Griffith's park, all of the Amish country, Toronto Zoo, Good 'ol Mumford et al if he gives a crap about American history. What kind of stuff does this dude like to do?
  9. I don't know, honestly.
  10. Yeah, same here. Just for a year though, I don't think she stuck with it. Which High School, if I might ask?
  11. Down here in GA, you can't buy it at all on Sundays. You can still get it from a bar/restaurant, though - IN MOST counties. There are plenty around here that can't serve it on Sunday at all. So instead of sitting at home and drinking a beer, I'll make sure I *drive* a county away and put a few down, and then *drive* back. They're talking about repealing it in South Carolina, but I haven't heard about anything in GA... I can see the Baptist crowd up in arms should they try, though.
  12. Not a happy topic, but in case anyone is wondering: http://yourmedicalsource.com/library/lymph...HL_staging.html. -Jeff
  13. I honestly don't care. My family and I have our own set of values, that's what's important. If "your daughter" gets to the point that she's considering something like this, she was lost a long time ago. To each, their own. -Jeff
  14. Yup, it's nice. He not only puts in 160%, but he very much seems grateful to be where he is. -Jeff
  15. It's all about String Theory.. in one universe, they *did* win.
  16. Wife's family is from Atlanta. As long as we DESTROY the falcons, I'm happy.
  17. I haven't even read the column. I just found the fact that everyone knew who it was by the snippet on the front page funny!
  18. You haven't read many of Jerry's columns, have you? All he does is piss and moan.
  19. It's because all of the unemployed don't have the health insurance to *GET* the antidepressants.
  20. Jesus man I'm trying to forget about that...
  21. Yeah, that's how I feel when I see anything by him. He's just looking for crap to whine about.
  22. [8:51 am] Bad answers by Donahoe, Miami guys Buffalo News reports: 'It was Donahoe's job to get a deal done. He overplayed his hand. The draft is done and the market for running backs has been significantly weakened. At least for the time being, the Bills are stuck with Henry, a diminished asset who has demanded a trade and says he will not play in Buffalo again.' Guessed that author right quick. At the very least, he's making a name for himself. -Jeff
  23. I'd bet that if you won the bidding and offered her a C Note for just that, you'd leave happy.
  24. I think your stretching it a bit, really. JP Won.
