I always look at the draft as the beginning of the next season.. we've got cuts coming up, mini camps... etc, etc. The PB->Draft Day usually seems like more off time to me.

I disagree. I don't believe it's stupid at all. It's more than acceptable for Costco to fire her for an eyebrow ring. Corporations have always had dress codes. In this case, "no face metal" is part of said code. I don't even understand why this is an issue. If you wear jeans and a T-shirt to a law firm every day, you'll get canned. Same concept. -Jeff

Yup. I did some research prior to the meeting, got a feel for his background and prior experience. Made sure I was as prepared for this discussion as I was for the technical discussions with the development staff. I'm sure he meant for it to happen this way, but it really seemed like I led the conversation for the most part. I made sure I didn't pull a standard "freeze." I knew what I wanted to say. If he questioned it, I took the time to explain my thoughts and why I felt the way I did. I made it a point not to tell him what he wanted to hear, but what I wanted to say. I find myself doing that sometimes. Not on purpose... just nerves. Made sure I tied all of the closing points back up into what I had started with to bring the conversation full circle. Some of the points this gentleman made put my current employer to shame. I've got a great feeling about this one! -Jeff Bah.. I just realized I left my sunglasses on his desk. Damnit!

They told me I'll have an offer letter by tomorrow afternoon at the salary req I gave 'em. WOO HOO!

I'm downtown now. When I get this one (see, confident, that's a good thing, right? ;-), I'll be in Alpharetta. Much closer to the house, much more laid back... no city.

They used to let the no-longer-neighbors kids pet-sit when they were out of town. They had a bit of work done to their house last weekend, there were some construction types over for a good part of the morning. I asked what they had done... 1. The neighbors' daughter broke the bathtub screwing in it. This is what they were having fixed. He also told me that... 2. The broke his scanner while screwing on his desk. AFTER loading his computer up with all kinds of 'net porn. You could have your neighbor's 16 year old daughter getting knocked up on your desk. Be glad you've only got exhaust! -Jeff

I've chatted with some of you regarding my soul-sucking job. I've been interviewing at a place for a couple weeks now, made two trips in. I'm meeting with the CEO tomorrow. If he likes me, it's a done deal on the spot. He wants to meet me because I guess my compensation requirements were higher than most of their folks. Company is privately held, very profitable. Goal is either public push or stay private and continue to rake it in. I could use some tips here... never had a CEO in the interview chain. -Jeff

I always get a kick out of the 14 year old mothers that name their children things like "Summer Lovely Lily" and "Change Wind Beauty." Names that a 14 year old would think beautiful, but in reality, they sound like... well... names a 14 year old mother would give her children.

Yeah, I forgot about that I spoke to soon, actually. Immediately after they talked about the Jets/Pats game, the went into The Pats at the White House, followed by a commercial for a commemortative "Patriots Superbowl Thing ." Followed by some talk about the Pats and Green Bay. I misunderstood. It wasn't some Jets interest, it was just more Pats BS From a different angle. (Note that I'm not asking for solid Bills coverage, I'm asking for less Pats coverage). -Jeff

I've been watching the NFL net for 20 mins this morning and they've already slotted the 12/4 Pats /Jets game as "one of the most important." They've also asked if "the Jets could unseat the Pats as number one in the AFC East this year." What's with all the Jets love?

Yeah, I thought it was illegal to call 911 for non emergencies? Anyways, the call audio is down now, so I can't tell. I'd argue that the operator thought she was using it as a disciplinary tool. We need to take up a collection and have this guy try to order a "R. Mexico" jersey. It's his real name, and the NFL has said customizable jerseys are for those that wish to have their own names printed. Mwa ha ha ha.
